IF I was a klingon player, I could see myself buying two of these ships. The K'T'inga class is a pretty good ship, and I like the Amar. The thing is, I'd want a high skill captain on that ship to fire first, and THEN add an [EVADE] for all the counter fire it would face. Having a low captain skill on this ship would make it's ability a moot point if no one ever shoots after you. Basically, the Amar will require a high skill captain. Looking at the website that posted the preview, the ship is on it's tile backwards, but the Amar has a rear arc. OMG, a REAR ARC! As the Klingons have no 180 or 360 arc ships, having a rear arc on this ship is money!
Barak... I'd pay 3 points for him if he had a captain skill of 5. His ability is way too situational- it requires an enemy ship be at range 2-3, it requires him to have a [TARGET LOCK], and for him to discard a 5 point Photon Torp. That's a long chain of circumstances and actions for all that to get pulled off. Myself, I get maybe 1, possibly two shots off with my Photons during any game, so it might be worth it if I can use the Torps with quality- reroll dice or convert them to hits/crits, which come by the Klingon Tactical Officer and Stand By Torps (also the Klingons have a few crew that help in those situations). With that being said, I'm spending 11 points to discard my Torps and disable two other cards for +1 attack die and rerolls...

I just don't understand why/how Wizkids can justify such a high price for +1 attack dice on Torps.
The Klingon Helmsman... Why couldn't he have been like the Romulan Helmsman? A discard for a red Come About... I dunno. He would have been better if you could somehow combine any dial maneuver with a sensor echo action.
The Klingon Navigator is very nice, but only if you have a high skill captain. Being a low skill captain and moving before everyone else... well, there isn't much need to change your dial if you are the first ship to move. On a higher skill captain, this could be a huge advantage.
The Klingon Tactical Officer is over priced. And I don't see how/why you could ever be in a position to use this ability. If I'm a high skill captain, I'd rather use a [TARGET LOCK] action to reroll attack dice, not spend an action for an [EVADE] token to disable and convert one [
BS]. A low skill captain would probably use the [EVADE] to, well, evade an attack seeing as he is firing after everyone else. A midling captain skill would be a tough call. Or, you know, I could take N'Garen or Drex for 4 points and convert all my [
BS] into hits/1 crit. I think the current Tactical Officer is way better then this card. I am sure there are some wacky combo's you could pull off with this card in an unrestricted build environment, but for ship pure, I'd look elsewhere.
Photon Torps- Standard fare here. Except the Klingons have no way of shedding Time Tokens quicker then 1/round. I'm thinking regular Photons paired with Stand By Torpedoes would be much better.
Stand By Torpedoes- the jewel of the pack (if you don't count the ship, which I think is the best card in this pack). IF you take Photon Torps as a secondary weapon, then there would be no reason not to take Stand By Torps unless you didn't have room on the upgrade bar. HOWEVER, as Photon Torps (and most secondary weapons of this sort) are a waste of points, then this card would be a no go as well. Sure, the Feds and to a lesser extent the Dominion call pull off Torp Boats (and I'd love this card with those builds), I don't see it being very useful. This card would be WAY more useful if it said "You do not need a [TARGET LOCK] to fire Photon Torpedoes". Instead, you still need a [TARGET LOCK] on the target ship, you just don't need to spend it to fire the Torps. You can spend the [TARGET LOCK] to reroll the attack dice.
Why would I buy two of these ships? If I didn't have one of the other K'T'inga or Vor'Cha class ships. Or if I ran a lot of Photon Torp Boats- then the Stand By Torps card would be nice to have. I could see some interesting builds with the Klingon Helmsman and Klingon Navigator, but in a more fun sense.
Overall, this ship isn't that bad, but it's not that good either. Solid middle of the road.
