I suppose someone ought to point out that if we'd all been buying like this before the company might have been worth keeping around.

Someone should say it.

Not me.

When Pig Iron 1st came out with their IG heads everyone and their dog was buying them. When they started doing full models it seemed they sort of dropped off everyone's radar.

Thats not at all the vibe I got from all their announcements.

We've been wrestling with this decision for many, many months but the constant pressure of running two businesses at the same time has taken its toll on us both and we feel its time, after nearly fifteen years, to take a step back and live a more 'normal' and relaxed life. On top of the business side of things we’ve both felt the need to explore other areas outside of the gaming industry but the constant 'background noise' of Pig Iron has always taken priority.

Nothing about that indicates to me a failing business. If anything, it sounds like Pig Iron might have become too successful and put too much pressure on the family. By the sounds of it, they have another unrelated business that they want to focus on. Hopefully they'll sell the company to new management, or sell off the IP and miniatures ranges.

I'm slowly building up some warbands for This is Not a Test (a Fallout inspired Necromunda style skirmish game), and I wanted the Kolony Ferals for a Mutant or Tribal warband. Probably would have bought them sometime this year had they not gone OOP.

I've bought from them over the years but I've got a budget and there's so many companies I want to buy from.. I'm starting to look at some of the smallest stores thinking they're likely in similar straits. Maybe if people bought less GW and Mantic and more Armorcast and Scotia Grendel the market would be a better place? Or maybe what really really want is more marines!!!!!

I picked up a missile launcher crew from warstore and it was missing one of the missile launchers but came with an extra rifleman. Had also ordered the assault crew but that was apparently out of stock. Pig Iron doesn't have either in stock. Tried Wayland but I'm expecting that they they don't actually have anything in stock. Grr.

Which is pretty much what happened to me. I got a lot of their heads around 2008 for Inquisition and Storm Trooper and Genestealer Cult projects (never finished) and looked at a lot of their stuff, but never ordered.

Meanwhile in the last few months I've painted over 100 Necromunda and 2nd edition IG

So now I put in my panic order for their Militia Command. I just don't need more sci-fi riflemen but a couple of guys standing around with arms crossed or looking at their watches can be useful.

There's been a lot of threads lately with games like Martian Front or lines like Tomb Kings disappearing. And no one closes a business or discontinues a line because it's making too too much money. So let's all try and give a thought to actually buying from these supposedly beloved small mini companies while they are still here.

Maybe I better do that Ramshakle order I've been thinking about for 4 or 5 years.

Good old Pig Iron...

Known Simon for a while, since he allowed us to use his figures in the Osprey edition of Tomorrows War.

A thoroughly decent chap and a great figure maker. His unreleased English Civil War range is stunning.

I know one of the parties interested in buying the range, hopefully it will happen, and I hope whoever buys it will get the consumer support to not only make it viable but to also expand and develop the range.

Thank feth. Still need the second half of the kolony feral range for my this is not a test / fallout mutant/ghoul warband.

They have great miniatures and I'd had my eye on them for the last year intending to make a big purchase when my finances permitted and then I found out they were c!owing. Its great to see that their ranges will live on.

I was just wondering what the status of this was yesterday. Good to hear someone got the molds. I'd like to someday get some Kolony Rebels. They seem like they would be well suited to posr apoc games. They might not be bad for TNT.

I will have another chance of getting the militia command! Good to know.

A couple more posts from the last few days. Alex and Helen are the new owners from what I gather, Simon and Lisa the former owners.

Well Helen and I have got everything back home. This weekend we will be sorting out the website. Then the webstore will reopen next week. New stock is on it's way. Then it's time to start adding to the ranges.
Alex

Hi guys just a quick note to hopefully cover your questions,
Simon and Lisa have sold Pig Iron to us Alex and Helen.
The ranges are intact and will be available to purchase when the webstore becomes active fingers crossed in the next few days.
We will be restocked by the end of April.
Simon will not be sculpting for us but we plan to keep the same feel and quality of miniatures going.
There will be some new models coming soon, vehicles to add to the Near Future range (by the end of April).
We are likley to be attending various wargames shows in the UK to promote Pig Iron Productions and hopefully bring the range to a new audience.

Do they/have they had a miniature company before?

If they had experience I think they would have mentioned it...

But best of luck to them and for the continuation of the range.

I was thinking the same thing.. they talk about sculpting and releasing new stuff like they're already involved in the miniature biz but I checked both their FBs and didn't really see any mention of it on a professional level.

That's a relief; their minis are wonderful and it would be a shame to have to say goodbye to them.

Purchased some heads from Pig Iron before

Should probably pony up and support them again soon.

Are they working on their own ruleset?
