Pig Iron, time to move on...

After much deliberation and soul searching both myself and Lisa have decided to close down Pig Iron at the end of March 2016.

We've been wrestling with this decision for many, many months but the constant pressure of running two businesses at the same time has taken its toll on us both and we feel its time, after nearly fifteen years, to take a step back and live a more 'normal' and relaxed life. On top of the business side of things we’ve both felt the need to explore other areas outside of the gaming industry but the constant 'background noise' of Pig Iron has always taken priority.

Wargaming, sculpting, painting and scenery making will still play an important part of our lives so we’ll be keeping the Facebook site open to keep in touch with the wider gaming world.

Moving forward, it would be a shame for the miniatures to disappear and we’re currently exploring ways of keeping the ranges going with other parties and we’ll keep you updated on any developments over the next month or so. Any suggestions are most welcome so please get in touch on: enquiries@pig-iron-productions.com.

All current and new orders will be fulfilled until we close the webstore down but we won’t be getting any more stock from Griffin Moulds. If you need to get in touch regarding your order please email us at the address above (Don’t forget to check your spam folder for any replies).

The last fifteen years have been an exciting challenge and very rewarding plus we’ve met some great people along the way and hopefully made some cool miniatures for your games.

Sincere thanks to all the people who have purchased our miniatures and supported us in other ways over the years.

Lets not say goodbye, lets say, “Stay in touch…”

Simon and Lisa - Pig Iron.

I saw their post on FB earlier.

Such a shame to see Pig Iron go. Their stuffs been really handy updating & personalizing my old Guard army. I'd best order some more bits before they go

Sad news but I grabbed a few heads directly from them for future possible conversions. $30 for 80 heads that'll take me ages to use works just fine for me

yeah,
Super sad to see them close their doors and I wish them the best of luck in the future.

It was always cool seeing their products pop up in blogs.
I even used them myself recently on my Maelstrom's edge Doom team!

Panic...

This is sad news indeed!

I have a platoon of their Kolony Militia, and a bunch of heads for converting Space Marines.

I do hope there can be a way to keep the ranges in production with another manufacturer. Perhaps Heresy or Hasslefree might be persuaded to take them on.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

That's a shame. Wish them well. They make nice stuff. Hope the range finds a home.

I find it hard to be sad when, instead of yet another catastrophic meltdown, we have two people that made a conscious decision to try something new and checked out while they were ahead.

That sounds.... great?

Best of luck to them.

You sound disappointed. Not every venture can end in tears and have a community of "experts" tutting at what could've been done better.

Yeah,
Well I'm sad that the resource is going.
Many items that I may not have use for right now but may have bought in the future.
Like the quazy german future helmets.

I made my purchase today to secure the heads I need for the Doom team.

I've wished them well on Facebook.

There is talk of selling stuff to another manufacturing party.

Panic.

Sad news indeed, I've been buying their heads for years.

How will I ever finish my Inquisition Storm Troopers now!

Glad they were able to leave on their own terms though, gotta respect that. I do hope someone picks up their range, I always loved their Kolony stuff (even if I never bought it).

Or Warlord can continue their pattern of acquiring model companies. I've lost track of how many they've bought in the last few years (that's not a complaint).

Sad news indeed.

Had an entire IG army kitted out with their stuff, every mini a conversion with their heads and accessories (with their war robots as a 'counts as' Ogryn as well).

Definitely some quality sculpts and reasonably costed, hopefully the casts will find a new home with another seller as it would be a shame to see them disappear.

Sad news for sure.
I just put in one of the larger non-KS orders I've spent on miniatures in a long while. I wish them all the best.

I'm hoping someone from this list will pick it up:
Heresy, Victoria Lamb, Mad Robots, Anvil Industries, Rebel Miniatures, Blight Wheel, Khurasan, or Hasslefree.

EDIT: Or.. I just thought of this.. Reaper.. They have a distinctly low count of sci-fi models and acquiring this range would round out their numbers really well (and bring them across the pond.. bwaha)

That would be amazing if Reaper picked them up. I would also be happy with Rebel minis getting them. Sad news though. I've always wanted to make a big, ridiculous order with them, but I couldn't pull the trigger. I suppose I should while I have the chance.

Just keep in mind, shipping is pretty high.
I'm in CA too and I had to pull a tank out of my order to get the shipping under $20. I ended up focusing on their infantry.

It would be awesome if Reaper picked them up, but the vibe I've gotten from their forums is that apart from some CAV stuff, Reaper is allergic to sci-fi. Hives and sneezing and coughing. Very allergic. (I think it's a shame, personally.)

I just created a topic suggesting a buyout on the Reaper Forums in the Sci-Fi section. Hopefully it'll get traction. I'm also hoping Bryan isn't the first one to see it because he seems to have the most severe "eek not sci-fi" type reactions..
If you guys like the idea please go and support that topic. If there's not vocal support, Reaper will probably not back this idea. The thread is at: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/67198-pig-iron-productions-looking-to-sell-off-their-range/#entry1317764

Well, there's nothing concrete other than that little tidbit. On Facebook M-a-M was expressing interest as well. I really don't know much about them but they've not been around that long which makes me hesitant out of fear we would see a repeat.

I also thought that if anything, Ramshackle could pick it up. Another crossed my mind while doing my AM jog but I can't remember who..
EDIT: Scotia Grendel is the other one I was thinking.

Gah, such a bummer to see Pig Iron close up shop, but I guess that gave me the incentive to pull the trigger on the minis they have that I'd been eyeballing for a while now. Best of luck to them in their future endeavors, and I hope we can continue to see this line of minis in the hands of another manufacturer so everyone else can get in on the awesomeness that Pig Iron made over the years.
