4k Tyranids
3k+ Ultramarines in 30k and 40k
2k Astral Claws

Hmmm.... maybe I should have been a teensy bit more ambitious with my poll options

If I were to spend the morning going through all I have, I would probably easily break 40K points of 40K models.

Approximately 2200-2500 of Tau and a small amount of DE probably about 500 points.

These are all impressive numbers, but the real question is...

How much of your collection is painted and based, verses just assembled, vs still in box?

In my case its all painted and based, 10,000+ points worth save 5 dark eldar models.

See pics of my Orks, Tau, Emperor's Children, Necrons, Space Wolves, and Dark Eldar here:

The 13k of IG I posted about are all painted. I have about 3k or so unpainted as well, but that'll happen when you collect huge armies.

It isn't called 40k because thats what you should aim for ???

Currently own about 1200 Models of space marines... maybe 30k Points.
Some IG and some super heavies , a few knights, SoB , Necrons too.

So more than 5000 was my pick. I suspect the Imperials are already 40000..

Plus the ( unassembled ) boxes of BaC, the Ad Mech I am painting right now .... ownership is a bit ahead of completed projects

The thing is: It is. If you have 5,000 points on the shelf, you can put together a wide variety of lists, swap stuff out to keep things fresh, etc. You could stop there, and have a happy hobby life.

But we all know that doesn’t happen. New shiny stuff gets released. We find a bargain to good to pass up, we want more WYSWYG options, etc.

And models don’t go bad. Once you paint something and stick it on the shelf, you can keep using it. I know I’ve been slowly growing my collection for decades. While some years are slower then others, it builds up.

5000 *is* a lot. You generally won't play it all in a game, so a lot of it is for looks and funsies. Really, anything over 2k is just extra options.

The majority of my Tau is painted and I'm working on the last few things. 6 Stealth Suits > 4 ML Drones > XV8 Team > Commander > Last of the Tidewall. I don't usually paint my drones though since why. I'm hoping to have about 3000-4000 points when all said and done for each army I eventually make over the years. Some things need touching up and the majority of it isn't highlighted or shaded because I hate that.

I could just about muster 1000 points of CSM.

I'm a bit faster at painting now so I expect to have a 2000 points ready to go pretty soon.

I don't buy unless I've finished painting what I have.

This will be rough estimates from my head, but close enough.
5600 points of CSM, although that is without ANY wargear at all, it seems to be about 7k with wargear.
Other than that I have like 500 points of Daemons and 1000-1500 points of 30k Word Bearers.

All painted of course.

This silence offends Slaanesh! Things will get loud now!

Somehow the poll has the wrong numbers.

I expected seomething like <2000, 2k, 4k. 6k, 10k, 15k 20k, >20k

I mean after more than 15 years in 40k, 5k is the size of one army. And I have 5 of them painted

Yeah, I had no idea that the options would be so small compared to what people actually have....

People with large collections, myself included, love to talk up how big they are. I'd guess the poll has some answer rate bias.

The typical player seems to have something like 20k - 25k worth of models.

So it should have been 1k, 2k, 5k, 10k, 15k, 20k, 25, 30k, 40k, more!

Well over 18000 points of Craftworld Eldar and Harlequins in my parents' loft.

About 12000 points of Marines.

About 2500 of old Renegade Marauder Chaos Marines.

About 2500-3000 points of Orks in my parents' loft.

About 1500 points suitable for a Lost and the Damned army.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Oh, and about 3000 points of beakies and other RT era marines destined for becoming 30k Raven Guard.
