Really? With such a simple script? Government petitions can be influenced that easily? That is hilarious. Still, there should be more enough legit votes left to have the petition discussed in parliament.

Yes ironically by bringing it to light they may have made the petition way more popular than expected!

What a thoroughly unpleasant website. 'Hotel House: How a luxury resort became a seething, immigrant slum'.
Given the attitude to the Beeb, I'd be willing to bet a fair amount of money it's owned by Murdoch, who despises them as he could reasonably expect to have several more billions than he actually does if they weren't around. Or Rothermere.

It's not that these opinions hideous monstrosities of views in that article are now deemed justified, excused on the basis that we want to leave the EU. Where are we going, what are we doing as a nation, I feel so low now, what have we become?

If a million brits swarmed into Poland they would get the same treatment from many of the locals. People are territorial and tribal at heart. Heavily indoctrinated middle class types don't feel that way but they don't have normal reactions to anything, so it all looks baffling to them. I don't like this kind of nastiness either, but I have travelled a bit and know what it is like to be an outsider in another country. The larger the influx the worse the reaction. Small numbers of tourists and business visitors, the occasional immigrant through marriage, is tolerable for the tribal types but millions strains their patience. Regaining control of our borders is really the only way to calm these people. If you think these incidents are bad, then see how things will be if we stay in the EU and then when we are not talking millions of immigrants but tens to hundreds of millions... gak will get really nasty then.

The chances are that if there is a general election (which there should be) every party will have to put in or out right at the top of their manifesto. The election will be fought on this one issue, but the parties will have to be far more concrete about what they will do in or out that the campaigns have been. Whoever wins will then have a mandate to follow the referendum, or declare that they are not following through as the vote was close and many people have changed their mind once the facts came out.
However if we don't go ahead we will be punished by the EU and the markets.
If either the Conservatives or the Labour party want to win, then in the light of this referendum, they will have to sell themselves as the best party to carry out the brexit. The SNP has Scotland locked up, neither the conservatives nor the labour party have much hope of scoring seats there so to win they need the English and Welsh votes... Who are mostly "leavers"...
Euro-skeptics in both of the major parties will be greatly emboldened by this referendum and will face little resistance from the euro-philes in the respective parties in putting euro-skeptics leaders in for the election.
Not at all. If the vote had been 60:40 for Brexit it probably would be electoral suicide to support Remain, but actually it was a lot closer than that.
There certainly are some Brexit voters who now regret their choice. A slight wavering among them combined with a favourable distribution of Brexit/Remain votes across the real parliamentary constituencies might easily see a general election produce a clearly anti-Brexit parliament.
The present parliament is clearly anti-Brexit, but was not elected with Remain/Leave as a key part of anyone's manifesto.

Exactly. We've made the world economy gak itself, carved up our country into tiny little pieces, we're about to try to do the same to the EU, and we've forced everyone's hand.
EU be like "you mean to tell us this was all a joke?"
We'll be worse off than we were before the Referendum, with no chance of redeeming ourselves.
Do you think Merkel, the Swedes, the Poles and the other countries that see Britain as an important counterweight in the EU, really would prefer Britain to leave the EU?
Everyone in the political and business world except Donald Trump, Putin, Farage and Tim Martin of Wetherspoons has spent the past three months telling the UK not to get out of the EU.
They aren't going to turn around now and say "Oh feth off anyway" if the Brexit vote was ignored by parliament. That really would be cutting off your nose to spite your face.

I think time will show that the current form of the EU is unworkable. It has too much interference in each member state, with the Germans and the French having too much control. Going back to the Proto- EU; the EEC, and giving every member state Australia-like Border control would be a good solution. Trade deals should be the focus on inter-country politics...with each country left to manage its own internal affairs. I can see Great Britain being happy with that, and Scotland too.
Migration will become more controllable, with countries able to select people with beneficial skills to ensure people aren't being flooded. This would have stopped the Migrant Crisis. We will actually know who is in the country, with correct details, and we won't have to deal with the likes of Abu Hamza again. I can't see a downside to this for our country.

This may be true, but I have to ask why the requirement is on Great Britain to be the one who is tolerant of mass migration?. If we are to become a German-led 'United States' of Europe...then shouldn't the requirement be for all Nations to be treated equally? Shouldn't Poland be pulling its weight?

Because it's our fault for being racist imperialists who think they still rule the world, and commit genocides (such as in the Boer war) across the world.

I see a bit of a problem with that. Doesn't that compromise the 'fairer', 'better' society it promotes? I'm not sure Anglophobia is a convincing argument for remaining. We need fundamental arguments.

Suddenly, I am not so sad anymore to see the UK leave the EU... I mean, I already knew there were racists in Britain, I unfortenately encountered that myself when I lived there (for some reason people always assumed I was Polish , probably because of the accent), but I had no idea it was this bad. People being beaten up and racist notes in letter boxes? That is really worrying.

Kinda takes the punch out of that 'Imperialist' comment when a significant chunk of the EU is already made of 'Imperialist' nations equally as bad as us. As a Leave voter, I'd like to see more convincing arguments on why to remain in the European Union that has overstepped its Powers from when it was originally a trading community, into a fourth Reich that dictates what countries may or may not do; and the removal of border controls. Anglophobia would not convince me to vote remain in the event of EURef2.
