Pledged for that beautiful Cephalid Ethermancer model:

Hopefully it makes it! Looks like it's already sculpted so I'm surprised it's not listed until a later stretch goal.

The add-ons section shows what's in the Deepwars starters. Click on the "Deepwars- All Reward Options" link.

I'll be backing for sure when I get home. I'm going to ditch the mermaids and the shark though. Gotta expand my Dark Mariner army.

That's what I was looking at.

I think I have it now, but some of that art is small and hard to match to a miniature.

If you aren't sure you could probably just post up here or in the comments and I could probably tell you off the top of my head what's in every starter.

That's kind of sad, but unfortunately I'm an expert at retaining minuscule details about not the most relevant things. I also can't remember where I set my phone 30 seconds ago, so go figure.

I started to back this to order some troglodytes but realized I could just order some troglodytes.. I can't for the life of me find a picture of how big they are though.. I saw pictures of their lizardmen that show them as massive so I'm kinda worried the trogs are bigger than I want..

Interesting stuff from the comments section:

ShadowSea 2.5 is part of this project also, and we have already completed all of the ShadowSea cards in tarot size as well. We just need to do more playtesting and editing, but the card layout are done.

In terms of selling them. Normally, there is just a per-card charge or 25 cents for normal size cards/ Tarot cards cost double the amount to produce, so I would guess 40-50 cents per card. We can do per-force, full sets or whatever people want. It probably will not be an official pledge option here. Maybe just an add-on later.

Creator AntiMatter Games 36 minutes ago

Our main retailer in the EU is Battlefield Berlin, who carry all of the new releases right now. We don't have a warehouse in the EU though, so shipments from there are not possible. We looked into fulfillment services but they are problematic when there are so many possible items to ship. We try to give options of padded envelope shipping, which reduces cost a lot for a few miniatures and cards.

Creator AntiMatter Games 19 minutes ago

Battlefield Berlin is great! Buying from them help us too, and keeps DeepWars and ShadowSea going in the EU.

AnitMatter games is a great company, and their games are a lot of fun - I'm all for anything that helps them out!

Yes. But its a little more of additional content of the world, as well. not just about different factions. they all interrelate.

Great game by the way. Amazing sculpts and a solid compnay7 who has a real eye for great sculpts.

Reapers underwater range works well with them, as well as your aquarium terrain.

The trogs are significantly smaller and slighter than the lizardmen. The website indicates the trogs are 32mm to top of head, and 35mm to eye on ridgebacks. A buddy has some, if he gets back in town before this ends, I'll take some pics.

Anti-Matter games models are a class act. Highly imaginative, characterful, and, most importantly, just plain cool to look at. Some of my favorite Olley work has come out of this line.

This campaign has convinced me that I need to sell off a large chunk of my miniatures collection - the vast majority of it, in fact - so I can justify getting behind projects like this one.

Incidentally, Alpharius and any other fans of the games, which one do you prefer? Shadow Sea or Deepwars?

I prefer Shadowsea from a bookkeeping perspective- I don't have any of those cool fancy depth stands for Deep Wars, which is what has kept me from really trying it. Plus it's all on land, so a bit easier to manage. The depth system is one of the cooler aspects of DeepWars though...

Then again, Barzam's got his Dark Mariner kick going on, so I know I've at least got one local opponent with a painted force ready to play.

I'm a DeepWars man first, mostly, but I do love ShadowSea too! They're both just really fun games that are easy to get into, easy to 'start small' and easy to expand!

Update #1

Mar 16 2016

First Day Complete!

Hi all,

So far, the first day has been great! We are 3/4 of the way to funding and on our way.

One thing that could change soon is possibly unlocking the Cephalid Ethermancer early, making it available now instead of a stretch goal. Bob Olley finished the sculpting early and it will be in hand and ready to cast very soon. If this happens, the new game mats would move to 14K for the stretch goal.

We're also working out a way to produce paper miniatures of the multitude of Wild Sea Creatures that can be summoned in the reef zone. Here is a sneak peek at one of them, the basic shape of a Beast of Kronos. Paper miniatures are interesting in that people can just get the PDF and print as many as needed. This is good since there are 15 main wild sea creatures that can be acting on their own, hunting players, or summoned by a Sea Shaman. We'll give more info soon once the final prototype is done of the Beast of Kronos.

As far as other Terrain types, there are a scenic terrain pieces in DeepWars that are not made yet. They tend to be a bit pricey when cast in resin but would look great if done.

Would you all be interested in these below? They could be added as additional "mini-stretch goals" between the other ones.

Coral Reef Sections - sculpted in the detailed style of the base of the Beast of Blood Reef. This would be much higher detail than anything you can get a pet shop. An outcropping section 120 mm long would be $16 / 2 points.

Doom Clam - A giant clam with a big appetite and bad attitude. Models coming close to these are in danger of being eaten, although there is often treasure scattered around them. The Doom Clam would be 3 times larger than the one below, big enough to hold an entire 30mm mini. It would be in the $24 / 3 point price area.

Giant Soft Coral - These are like large underwater "trees" that make good cover during battle. These would be in the $24 / 3 point price range.

Whale Carcass - This is for the Deep Abyssal Zone only, and is when a dead whale sinks to the bottom and makes a nice home for masses of vile hagfish and an attractant for sharks. This would be quite large and probably in the $50-$60 range. There would be a mixture of skeletal parts, flesh and innards along with the hagfish.

More terrain!

And that Beast of Kronos would make a nice 'miniature'!

I'd really like them to do the Wild Sea Creatures in resin, that would temp me in like the way Darklands did.

Funded!

And Updated!

Update #2

Mar 17 2016

Almost funded!

We are only a few hundred away from being funded. To add some incentive, a few more stretch goals have been added. These are scenic terrain that will be cast in resin.

First are 30mm diameter treasure markers, which are an important part of the scenarios. These are placed on the map and when a model spends one action, it can roll to determine what it finds. These will be a set of 4, using two main sculpted markers. They will have crystals, gold coins, artifacts, corals and sea life on them.

Next up is the massive whale carcass. This deadly bit of scenery will be about 240mm in length and presents cover on the seafloor of the deep Abyssal Zone off the edge of Blood Reef. It is covered in giant hagfish that attack models touching it.

Last is the Doom Clam, massive bivalve of the reef that is large enough to suck in unwary divers and crush them to a gory pulp. It often has treasure scattered around it or inside of it from its meals.

As for the paper miniatures for wild sea creatures, we are making progress there also. Here are some images from the concept art and prototype shapes.

And Update #3 is "Backer Only" and contains a preview of the 2.5 rules for DeepWars and ShadowSea!

Design-wise, my preference is for Deepwars. I like the designs of the diving gear and the factions unique to Deepwars are visually more interesting than those from Shadowsea. For rules though, I'd go with Shadowsea since it's a bit simpler. Since I have Dark Mariners though, I'm cool either way since almost their entire line can be used in either game with only a few units not usable in Shadowsea.

I didn't even notice that sea scorpion in there.

That sounds about right Alpharius.

"Prince" Highlord is all about early sea life, which is odd that he isn't acting a lot more demanding about where my pledge is currently going. Kid was constantly asking for updates during the Draconid campaign.

At least "Princess" Highlord has given her blessing for the Nereids. They may not have red hair and sing, and they aren't Shopkins or Ponies, but we'll make her a willing participant yet!

Debating if I want that whale carcass... if it can get some use in other games that aren't under the ocean, I'll really be tempted.

Especially if it nets us some new hagfish sculpts too... or a swarm base of them to send out if people get too close...

Depending on how it turns out, it might have use as a beached whale in a darklands game.

My apologies on forgetting Princess Highlord!

I, of course, have also neglected to account for Queen Highlord too! Or is she not a gamer at all?

Some separate bases of hagfish would be ace though - you should mention that in the comments section!

Update #5

Mar 18 2016

Funded!

We are now funded and clear of the first hurdle! Now comes the stretch goals. The treasure markers are unlocked now, and Celestino is already starting the sculpting. He previously did the ones for ShadowSea - Conquest of the Underground World and they turned out great.

Also added are bonus points for 100 backers and for reaching 14000. Hopefully we can keep moving ahead and getting more backers. To entice some more people, a $5 reward was added for just the PDF files of the DeepWars rulebook, Blood Reef supplement and the painting guide.

Bring on the extra points!

Game Mat Photos - Sunken Bio-sub

There was a request to see some shots of the sunken bio-sub mat with minis, Here are a few photos with small groups of 3 figures. The sub has an entrance via the "Exit Chamber" through a hole in the floor. Models can also breach through the hull and enter an any other point, although this requires either a Strength Check or a breaching charge. The mat shown here is the 24" x 24" version. The 36"x36" mat has a slightly larger bio-sub and more area outside. Also on the mat are two crystal outcropping resin pieces.

Update #8

Mar 20 2016
Triton Berserker Unlocked!

We've crossed the 10K threshold now and unlocked the Triton Berserker, a large male warrior of the Nereid tribe. This figure will be on a 40 or 50mm base (TBD based on the sculpt) and will be a bit larger than the female Nereids. These warriors will be the heavy shock troops of the force, able to go into berserk fury and get a bonus to activation as well as a bonus with combat rolls when berserk. They are also Savage, causing additional wounds and often causing a Gruesome Kill to enemies, a death that instills panic among allies of the victim. Finally, they move with the Long stick and are able to close distance quickly with enemies.

Nice unlock there!

Update #10

Mar 21 2016
Added new stretch goals

Hi all,

We've made it past some stretch goals so some new ones were added and one was unlocked and move to the regular reward section. First, the Cephalid ethermancer was unlocked and placed as a regular reward. The figure is already sculpted and on its way.

Next, we added the paper miniatures we've been hinting at. These are done by Brave Adventures and come as a PDF file so you can make as many as you need. The add-in cost is $5 but any backers $45 and up get it for free.

We also added in two more Nereid personality models, Amatheia - Caller of the Deep and Icthelion, Lord of the Seas. These will be very large resin models with a ton of detail

I know they've said that many of those paper minis would be too big/too expensive to make as actual miniatures, but I'd pay up to 'quite a bit' for a Beast of Kronos (Kronosaurus) model!

Update #11

Mar 21 2016
Some more info on paper minis.

The paper miniatures are an exciting addition to DeepWars. The game has a lot of wild sea creatures that can roam the map or actively hunt down players. They can also be summoned by a Sea Shaman to fight for a warband. We did not have miniatures for these as it would take a massive project just to produce them, but in the end they would be very expensive due to the sheer size of many of them. So the paper models are a cost-effective way to get lots of wild sea creatures on the game board. They do cost a good bit to produce, so we have to do them in sets.

The first set will cover the Shallow Shelf zone of DeepWars.

Beast of Kronos (Kronosaurus) - 160 mm with a base 80mm long and 50mm wide.

Blacktip Whaler Shark (reef Shark) - 40mm long, 10-15mm tall. base 30mm

Euripterid Sea Scorpion - 60mm long (full length). base 50mm

Giant Devilfish (huge Pacific octopus) - maybe 80mm wide, 50mm base.

Giant Marine Crocodile (giant saltwater croc) - 150 mm with a base 80mm long and 50mm wide.

Gray Pointer Shark (great white shark - mixed with bull shark) - 100 mm long, base 50mm

Leviathan Shark (whale shark) - 150mm long, base 80mm long and 50mm wide.

Lion's Mane Jelly (as the name) - 80mm tall and thick, on a 40mm base.

Orthocone (as the name) - Long and skinny - 120 mm length, 50mm base

Razor-Jaw Fish-Lizard (plesiosaur - see link https://mir-s3-cdn-cf.behance.net/project_modules/hd/a37ba324679089.5604aaaf35d6e.jpg) 80mm long 40mm base

Ravenous Cordoba Squid (Humboldt squid) 40mm long, 30mm base

Ridgehead Leviathan (Sperm Whale) - curved so not too big 225 mm long, base 110 mm long and 60 mm wide.

Sharptooth Dolphin - 40mm long, 30mm base

Sharptooth Dolphin Pack Leader - 45mm long, 30mm base

Stonebreaker Crab - 60mm wide, 50mm base.

Haven't had a chance to ask in the comments, but anyone have any suggestions on where/ how to get those paper monsters printed?

Having big huge thick cardboard tokens would be awesome, but I have no idea what it would entail to get something like that printed. Maybe thick cardstock glued to some kind of dense material?

Would love to hear some input on this to get maximum usage out of this stretch goal.
