I really like the idea of salamanders. Its a shame they cannot get Heavy flamers in tac squads.

Other lists people use drop pods for their tacs to get the flamers and meltas where they need them quickly since they are both so short range.

Also depending on where you play/what the houserules are, your razorbacks may or may not have chapter tactics

I do love the Ironclad, if you switch to drop pods I would concider a second ironclad for more AV saturation. .

Also I cannot recall do LotD benefit from salamander chapter tactics? I didnt think they did. So you make be better off with some sternguard in their place.

Hey yeah, all melta type weapons benefit from Vulkans forgefather rule which affects everyone in his detachment. It's a shame Razorbacks don't have Chapter Tactics, but it was just more of a fluff decision to give them flamers.

I may consider using 3 droppods so I'll have a look at that too

I run a pretty similar list with my salamanders. If I can offer some advice though, its to switch that Ironclad to Bray'arth Ashmantle. Hes 120 points more, but he's got an extra hullpoint and is MUCH harder to damage because he ignores anything that grants bonuses on the armour pen roll (with the exception of haywire grenades), and has iwnd to heal whatever gets through. And to top it off, he's got that twinlinked melta shot at bs 5 and is ws 6 instead of 4, so he's hitting most things on 3s in cc and reliably popping tanks with an almost guaranteed melta shot.

To find those points, I'd switch all the razorbacks to drop pods. This gives you a solid 3 drop pods on turn 1, and/or drop one of the flamer squads. Any remaining points from this can go into upping your model count in the melta squads, giving some sacrificial bodies so that you might live long enough to get off that second melta shot.

Just my thoughts, been playing salamanders for a few years now, and Bray'arth rarely lets me down. At the very least, he's a terrifying distraction that your opponent will HAVE to deal with, giving you time to get vulkan and the honour guard into the thick of it.

Also, take a locator beacon on your starting 2 drop pods, whichever you plan on those being - makes the lotd scatterless on the deepstrike, and that is priceless.
