As stated in the title, predicts what kind of music the different armies of the 40k universe would listen to. You could list genres, band or specific songs for all the factions or just a specific few.

I'm sure the orks listen to rock. Particularly the Goffs.

I'd wager that the Imperium listens to bible hymns altered to praise glory to the emperor.

How should I know it is 40.000 years in the future and most of them are alien races. They could enjoy the sounds of dying zoat babies for all I know. The only thing that we know for sure is that they will not listen to the same music like to listen to nowadays. There is just no chance that that crap will survive 40.000 years and also spread to other species.

H.B.M.C.- The end hath come! From now on armies will only consist of Astorath, Land Speeder Storms and Soul Grinders!

Suddenly imagining a planetary governor inviting foreign dignitaries into his study for cognac. He knows that only classical music is appropriate for the situation, so he reaches for his favorite - Katy Perry's "Firework".

Would you want to go back 80+ years in history to compare the survival rate of music vs architecture.

Music then will be unrecognizable to music now. Some of the instruments might be vaguely similar (percussion is percussion, after all), but one would be hard-pressed to apply modern genre-labels to something 38,000 years in our future.

It's retconned canon that orks like rock, while the Imperium is so regulated the only thing they're allowed to listen to would be the impreial equivalent of "It's a Grand Old Flag" or "From Sea to Shining Sea." (It's a Grand, Old Aquilla?)

Tau would be even worse, probably something like Remove Kebab- either that or Vocaloid.

Dark Eldar would probably create an entirely new genre of music composed of screams of their tortured slaves and euphoric moans. They'd probably call it something like sexcore.

Eldar are so uptight they probably only listen to soothing, structured orchestral music played on some pretentiously beautiful instrument called a light-weaver or something. Basically what all Elves listen to- boring, pretentious crap that isn't allowed to have an ounce of fun.

Necrons probably wouldn't listen to music, as they'd consider it a waste of time. If they did, though, it would probably be a nonstop loop of Darude- Sandstorm. It's techno and it's got sand in it to fit the Egypt thing- everything necrons love.

For Space Marines, there are only 2 things in life. Prayer and war. All time that is not spent fighting or preparing for a fight is spent in devotion to the Emperor. So the only time Space Marines will get to listen to music is when meditating. I like to imagine Space Marines listen to soft, soothing background music while meditating. Something like this:
