It's a fine ruleset (and pretty good fun/entertaining), thoroughly recommended!
The game just needed some better miniatures for the basic resistance fighters, although realise there are some better other options out there.

Contemplated it, but still can't bring myself to like the minis, "terrain" and mat enough to take the plunge.

Still maintain its a really fun game would really recommend it. And if you've got some kind of 'dystopian' ruined city terrain - skulls a bonus! (which I'm sure a lot of people have) you're pretty much good to go.
Minis wise, I would say the Resistance soldiers are serviceable, the Terminators are brilliant. They make GW Necron troopers look pretty toy-like by comparison, IMO.
Real shame that it doesn't seem to have taken off as its one of the better designed game systems released recently, a lot of neat little touches.

This crap will be on sale sooner or later anyway, the movie bombed and Warlord won't be sinking much more into a flop.

FRP has the basic core game for something like 20 dollars I believe. Deluxe with the extra rulebook is 67 if you're in the US and interested.
Reading through the rules, it does seem like a neat little game.

Yeah the game seemed neat. I always liked the movies, but couldn't bring myself to buy another game... I have too many already with too little time.
The bargains on this game are great now. The fall in price gor mw to a tipping point, and i finally pulled the trigger. I almost bought from frp, but found a sealed deluxe set with a free premium game mat and free shipping for $45 on ebay! Couldn't argue with that.
I'm glad to see there are several characters for both sides, multiple terminators and larger machines, different troop types, command squads, etc now. The game feels larger with more options, many of which can be bought in resin.

Wasn't the rules made by some ex GW guru?

Alessio Cavatore - I believe 4th edition 40k, Lord of the Rings, Mordheim (not sure about WHFB - 6th ed?) were his, or with him as a primary writer.

Yes Alessio Cavatore, he designed 40k 5th edition, LOTR, WFB 7th and several army books for GW, Warpath1.0, Lokia and Kings of War for Mantic.
I did not buy the game as I felt the prices were too high throughout the range except the rulebook maybe. 3 metal Terminators with special weapons for 15 GBP, fiddly sizes (true scale is not always the best choice) and an expensive starter set with average quality plastic miniatures at best.
The miniatures werent competetive for that price quality- and quantitiy-wise in my opinion. The Terminators did never pull me in, they are - based on photos - not really tempting sculpts.
With those huge discounts though, I will buy a starter box some day because I love the (original) franchise.
I think they rules are very good and another tabletop game from Warlord but with more reasonable priced miniatures set in a dystopian future based on these rules would be great and something I would invest money and time into.

I picked up the rule book for $5 on Black Friday. Actually, a really solid game mechanically, but it's a skirmish game with exactly 2 factions, and the miniatures were overpriced.
I can't get myself to pull the trigger on 2 box sets for $50, because I'll know I'll never play more than 1 or 2 games of it.

So I finally got my goods. I have to say the core set minis are far better detailed than I thought. I thought they were cartoony, but the sculpts are very realistic. The paint jobs the minis are shown with don't do them justice at all.
The resins are amazing. (Except for warping from the blisters, and minor flash). They look just like the actors and have zero bubbles.
Game is definitely worth the money, esp with the price drop. I just hope they make models for t2, t3, and especially t4.

For me it fulfilled a lifelong dream to have actual endoskeleton miniatures (instead of 50 other "not-terminator" models from various manufacturers) - and the rules are absolutely fantastic too. I've gotten every release and even had Westinghouse plasma rifles 3d printed to convert the metal endoskeletons to have T2-style weapons plus lots of awesome terrain and 1/48 kits.
The game is really, really good. The discount on the main box set from Warlord puts it firmly in the "absolutely buy it now " category if you have any liking of the Terminator franchise, but also very specifically if you want to experience one of the most elegant set of miniatures wargaming rules on the market.
As an aside, for those EndoHeads like myself, I use the plastic endoskeletons as series 600 and 700 Terminators and the metal endoskeletons as the classic series 800. Works very well and explains the "beefier" endoskeletal structure of the plastics versus the (beautiful) metal endoskeletons. For those wishing to snag the metal endoskeletons, Wayland has 'em on discount right now - they work out to about 4 bucks apiece and the detail on them blow away any other comparably priced metal figure.

I hear you, I have always loved the terminator franchise. I initially didn't buy in as I have way too much invested in 40k, lotr, wwx, battletech, etc... not to mention too many games in my game closet.
The falling price made it a must have, and I cleared out some games to buy in. I bought one of everything, and all extras in resin. However, i was sent one set of metals instead (the 1984 set). The resins are ridiculously good, the metals are pretty poor when it comes to human faces (no noses, eyes, details). I'll continue to stick to the resins, which fixes that issue.
I played my first games today too. The games are amazingly quick and bloody. Almost every game ended on a man to man basis, coming down to a single dice roll, talk about game balance!! I can see the designers genius in this system, and it is as fun as the old lotr and 4th/5th edition 40k.
I also love the hobby side. There is a growing community that has suggestions for cars, tanks, models, etc that will work in this game. It is refreshing to go out and buy a scale Abrams tank for $10, instead of paying $100 for a land raider.
I think I am out of 40k for good now, there are just too many other great games out there like this one! I hope the gaming community for this game in the us grows as fast as the one over the pond from us! Kudos to riverhorse... this game is great!

Was that direct from River Horse or from Warlord? if from Warlord, send them an email, they'll send you a new set. My metal casts have all been pretty great, that sounds like a miscast.
