Inquisitors are cool and fluffy and supposed to offer unlimited potential. I would love to put one in my army alongside some Tempestus Scions but I'm starring at all the options wondering what's the way to go with them. They can obviously be anything from a cheap little buff to a power house to a huge point sink.

I thought I'd look for some inspiration and ask the kind folks of dakkadakka what you're opinions on inquisitors are and how you equip them.

Look forward to hearing you're ideas.

Thanks!

For melee I run

Xenos with rad grenades psyker force sword/bolt pistol

MAlleus in terminator armor is good to tank some wounds for a T3 squad.

Usually I end up going with coatez...since you cant beat his rules for the price.

Lok is great for a cheap decent melee option but dont get him into melee with serious melee powerhouses.

Make a cool character with cool equipment and run him.

or you can be lame and min max grenades and servo skulls.

My personal favorite equipment however is the daemon blades and hell rifles.

I love my Counts as Lok. People often underestimate/arn't familiar with his rules and quickly regret letting their sergeant/squadleader take his challenge only to get cut down hard and not realize that he has a 2 up and Invul so he can shake off a fair beating.

If I had any Inquisitors, I'd use them to augment the Deathwatch army I hope to put together based around Deathwatch Overkill. I cannot wait to go pick it up tomorrow!!

Inquisitors can add some really cool features to your army. The Liber Hereticus gives you a variety of special rules that you can enact once per game. A cool one to use is Scout. and if he is in a unit who is in a dedicated transport, the transport gains the scout rule. So if you have a taurox with some good guns on it, scout that thing 12" in start the shootin! Or use it to snag an objective. I like this build to keep him cheap

Ordo Xenos Inquisitor w/ 3 servo-skulls, rad grenades, liber hereticus = 59

Rad grenades can really help in that first round of combat and the servo-skulls are great against anyone else who tries to scout on to an objective. they can also prove useful if you are deepstriking scions in and dont want to risk the scatter. Which when coming in from a vendetta, can prove deadly.

A rule I think I just realized you can do...Give your Xeno Inquisitor both the Needle Pistol and Plasma Pistol, they're two seperate options for replacing both your chainsword and bolt pistol, so I think it's legitimate? Someone tell me if I'm wrong please! But a super easy conversion for this model would be just to use the new AM Lord Commissar model, chop off the sword piece, and replace with pistol of choice!

You can do the above though it would mostly be for rule of cool than a game advantage. Both pistols are horribly over costed.

if you are running scions, consider a hereticus inquisitor with the psyocculum. BS10 plasmaguns against any psyker that combo with the scions orders that make them ignore cover is cheesy as hell. And they will test LD on 10 because of the attached inquisitor.

Henchmen are cool if you like to convert stuff.
As are inquisitors. If you just want a cool customisable character or unit go for inquisitors.

34 points - Inquisitor, 3x Servo skulls.

Servo skulls to stop scouting and infiltrating, inquisitor either joins something you don't want to flee since he's Ld 10 stubbon or he goes into reserve or camps an objective out of LoS and tries to not die.

The psyocculam and rad grenades have alreaday been mentioned.

There's some success to be had in Terminator armour, psycannon and psybolts though, but that's pretty build dependant and probably not for Scions to be honest.

Psybolts don't increase the strength of the psycannon.

I run my inquisitors with a guard blob

Coteaz, for "oh hi drop podding marines have 50 lasguns to the face"

And a standard Xenos with Force Sword Skulls and Rad Nades for punching marines to death with guardsmen.

I occasionally swap out for Krazypantsoff if I'm feeling like blasting my own dudes to smithereens.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"
