The Imperium of Man fields a wide variety of Bolters from the classic Godwyn to the more esoteric local designs. What pattern do you like the most?

Personally, my favorite pattern of Bolter is the Godwyn. It's a nice, chunky design with a cool curved magazine.

Deathwatch bolters with the fire selectors are pretty cool, along with the wealth of customisations for them.

Toss up between Godwyn De'az and Umbra. They both have that slightly longer, sleeker look that means they mean business, rather than just being bricks for hitting things with.

Umbra Ferrox for me. I like the Umbra as it looks like a sleeker version of the Godwyn, and the box magazine of the Ferrox looks ace.

and now in serious - Tigrus / Tigris (whatever it is) looks sleekest to me. Standard Godwyn looks a bit clumsi

Box magazine in general is nice, regardless of pattern.

Phobos for me. I like the look of the barrel. It retains the distinctive features of a bolter, but looks a bit more like a real machine gun to me.

Tigus and Umbra are both nice too.

Actually, Umbra bolters do occasionally come with buttstocks.

There old model parts for sure. They came with in part, with my old metal marines from 1990 something I salvaged.

The Umbra pattern is Forge World's update of the boltgun used by the original plastic marines.

That sprue on the other hand is the boltgun that became standard on both marines and Sisters of Battle during 2nd edition, Sisters of Battle have since been described as using only the Godwyn-De'az pattern, ergo that's what it is.

I like the Godwyn pattern bolter and the big, chunky and powerful look it has.

What? That sprue was first produced for the 1990 Space Marine Strike Force box. The Umbra pattern is Forge World's update of the visibly different boltgun used in the 1987 RTB01 box.

What's that got to do with it? GW still hasn't updated the basic sisters since 2nd edition, they still sell the exact same sculpts. They have however written fluff to describe what they're armed with.

Phobos Pattern - especially with the chainblade Sarissa. I like how it isn't pretentious and encrusted with eagles and skulls - It's just a gun and a chainsaw rolled into one.

Although, I do like the sleekness of the Tigrus pattern - especially the Tigrus Seeker pattern.
