Sir Guy, the Knight is awesome. Your Katakros will have quite a nice looking entourage. Amiri is off to your usual great skin start.

I also use a random number generator to decide on what mini to paint! It ensures that the more boring troops get painted and don’t get forgotten for the super-fun characters!

Thanks! I still say my pot of Flesh Wash should take most of the credit when it comes to painting skin.

Glad to know the idea works! I just need something that gets me digging into my backlog a bit more, my head is far to easily turned by newer, shinier minis.
Made a bit of progress on everything this week:-
Banner Guy is mostly done:-
Just gotta try to think of how to do the banner without making the whole thing too colourful.
Amiri is getting there:-
I'm actually really pleased with how she's turning out so far.
And I've started my first 100% computer chosen mini, Rage (Guild Ball):-
Early days on this one.

Those eyes, that hair... Amiri is rocking. For some reason the stitching on Banner's scabbard stands out as very well painted. Always great attention to detail.

Thanks!
That kind of chunky stitching has been showing up on quite a few of my minis lately, so I've been getting plenty of practice.
Got Banner Guy all finished:-
The base is getting fuller, just the boss skelly dude left to do.
Making decent progress on Amiri:-
Just a handful of little details left and her bag of javelins that I keep forgetting about.
And Rage is getting there too:-
Again, just a few details to go.
Hopefully I should get these two finished this week.

Rage looks like a cross between Bill Cutting and Lucky the Leprechaun. Those kids are going to regret messing with his Lucky Charms. Is Amiri the BONES version?

No, Amiri is in metal. Wasn't a fan of Reapers Bone material until they brought out the Bones Black stuff.
Speaking of Amiri, she's all done:-
Definitely one of my better paint jobs.
I also finished Rage:-
He was also a lot of fun to paint.
Didn't get much done to my Bony Guy though:-
That cape took far too long to paint.
And I've had my next two minis chosen for me, it's double Reaper this time:-
Evshyvandra Duskwidow, a scary Elf chick.
Damaris Walmund, vampire hunter.
I'm going to have to start making up the names for my Reaper minis, they're becoming too much word-soup.

I discovered the one fatal flaw in my randomised mini plan, if I'm not too interested in the mini it's pretty much impossible to get me to work on it (It didn't help that I was also getting rather burnt out on working on my Bony Dudes).
So I took a few days off, cleared my desk, revised my plan and started again.
And now I've finished Hazel Bodkin (Wolsung):-
She's a little messy in places, I thought I could easily paint her with her slingshot attached, I was wrong.
I've also mostly finished Screamin' Eddie (Games Workshop):-
I'd forgotten how good the big mutants in the Rouge Trader set were.

Nice output and the mutant looks real fun in that color scheme and not the "official" nurglistic one. Like he stepped out of some weird 90's comic book

Thanks guys! I saw Eddie as more of a generic mutant, the kind you might find wandering a radioactive wasteland.
Speaking of Eddie, he's finished already:-
Really pleased with how he turned out.
Next up, I have another Halfling:-
This is "Pop" Bodkin, Hazels father, and he's coming along nicely so far.
And another mutant:-
The horrifying Engineer, I've just basecoated his skin so there's still lots to do.

Thanks! It helped that all his detail was super-chunky so I could do some proper lining for a change.
Another mini finished, 'Pop' Bodkin (Wolsung):-
Had a lot of fun with this one, he turned out to be a pretty characterful mini.
The Engineer is coming along slowly:-
He's proving to be quite fiddly so I'm finishing off his skin details section by section, so far I've done his heads, shoulders, chest and back.
Couldn't decide what I wanted to start next, so I cranked up the random number generator, but instead of just doing whatever one it picked (That didn't work out too well last time) I got it to pick out a selection I could chose from, so I'm starting my first Deep Wars mini:-
He's a deep sea diver of some sort.

Nice work, as always.
I was wondering if you could explain your painting style? I know you put a sepia wash over a white basecoat, but do you then apply many layers of glaze, or do you block out solid colors?

Yeah, I've got quite a few random minis, Kickstarter has been a really bad influence on me.

There's not really much to explain, the wash is just there to help me make out the details and, hopefully, fill in all the nooks and crannies, so you don't get those little white specks you sometimes get from undercoating with white primer. Then I paint over it all with solid blocks of colour, plus the usual shading and highlights.
I've seen stuff painted up with just glazes, and it looks really cool but I'm too messy a painter to try something like that.
When I was choosing a new mini to paint, one of the suggestions my computer came up with was to finally finish off my Storm Knight, so here he is:-
Don't usually paint the same mini twice, but he's one of my all time favourites!
I think I prefer this second version (he's more colourful), but I ran into the same problem that I did with the first one, his cloud cape needs a lot more time and effort spent on it than I'm willing to put in. Doesn't look too bad though.
The Engineer and Diver are coming along nicely, but I don't think I've done enough to warrant any new piccys yet.

He looks great. The new guy rocks with the more colorful scheme. Very comic book villain. The amorphous look on the cape is awesome. This version is more "storm" to me. The previous one is more "cloud."

Thanks! Yeah, I'm a little surprised I left the first Knight so plain looking.

Thanks!
More minis finished!
First there's 'Ironbelly' Klegg (Deep Wars):-
I'm really pleased with how he turned out, even if I do still suck at painting crystals.
And The Engineer (Games Workshop):-
Kinda meh on this one, even though his belly fire came out better than expected.
Nothing new to show at the moment.
I did have a couple of guys assembled, but they both needed some gap-filling, and, unfortunately my Green Stuff has gone rock hard since I last used it a couple weeks ago.

Thanks everyone!
Yeah, I was super pleased with how his lenses came out, they may not be particularly well blended, but they're a big step up from how I normally paint such things.
I planned to, but they've got to wait until I get more greenstuff.
Triton the Merman is sitting on the desk right now, with his many gaps.
Nothing finished to show off, I spent a few days working on my 10th Anniversary Kingdom Death Survivors before realising they're just not that fun to paint, so I switched to a pair of Twisted figures yesterday and I'm making much better progress:-
That's Trica Harker and Squirrel the Urchin.

Yeah, kinda regretting picking up that set.
You would think they would make special edition minis, you know, special. But they're so bland compared with the others they've put out recently.
In better news, two more finished minis!
Tricia Harker (Twisted):-
Struggled a bit with her legs, couldn't figure out if they were weird boots or robot legs, but I'm pretty pleased with the rest.
And Squirrel the Urchin (Twisted):-
Still got a load of these little guys to paint.
Next on the desk is these two:-
A Games Workshop Faun and a Kingdom Death Cleric, very early days on both.

Managed to get my lady Faun all wrapped up this week:-
Had trouble with her woven armour stuff (It came out best on her quiver), but she looks okay.
Almost finished the Cleric:-
Just need to tidy up her boots and paint her gruesome base.
Then I can start on the new guys, the Artful Dodger (Twisted):-
And Triton (Deep Wars):-
Who is very top-heavy.
