Does anybody field Noise Marines? I have recently been using them as a more range focused plague marine squad for capturing forward objectives and am loving what they can do.

They're ok. They are solid objective campers with being fearless and having solid ranged weapons they are still fairly expensive while being only SM durable. Fun fact they got FAQed to get a blast master at 5 men and the 2nd BM at 10 men

5 man blast master squad in a Rhino with havoc launcher. Can sit in your backfield and still reach out and touch your opponent.

That's about the only way to do it. They're absurdly expensive otherwise. Shame that Small Blasts are pretty meh.

I used to run them in all of my CSM lists, but largely replaced them with Plague Marines...Mainly due to the amount of armor and AP2 in my area (they don't offer much in the way of anti-tank, but are good at teaching marines the meaning of the word Respect ). Outflanking a large blob of them with a lord on a steed, and the FnP icon, is also fun. .
They are awesome in Kill Team.

I like them. They're good for sitting on an objective and laying down fire. Pinning shots that ignore cover and the Blastmaster drops a S8AP3 template which can be good for killing tough marines

When I ramble, sit, and think.
Here's to me in my drunken mood,
When I gamble, sin, and drink.
And when my days are over,
And from this world I pass,
I hope they bury me upside down,
So the world can kiss my ass!

Noise Marine Terminator with Sonic Blaster
|
My normal list for noise marines consisted of 2-3 5 man squads with blastmasters sitting in rhinos with havoc launchers. Then, I would make one large 12-15 man squad with sonic blasters, doom siren, and an Icon of Excess.
Blast masters sit on the board edge dropping small str 8 ap 3 ignores cover blast markers.
The Sonic blasters would be positioned to deny the mid-field to enemy infantry. I am not a fan of the cost of the icon, so I only put it in large units to defray the cost.
Never mix blast masters and sonic blasters in a squad. They should be shooting at different types of targets. Combining them is a waste, IMHO.

Not even a single sonic blaster in the 5 man squad with blast master? It seems a waste of one of the rhino's fire points to just shoot a bolter out of there.

What would a bolter or sonic blaster do to a target of str 8? Also, the range of the blastmaster is 48", so it should be camping out far away, well outside of bolter / sonic blaster range.

Inspired by Miniwargaming's Path to Glory campaign, I tried running two min squads of Noise Marines w/ Sonic Blasters, Blastmaster and Doom Siren in Rhinos. Worked quite well. Zipping upfield on Turn 1 with a Maulerfiend and Land Raider running alongside led to relative freedom to roam for them. On Turn 2 they were able to drive up 6", disembark 6" and get within Salvo range to unload in a nearby enemy unit, then camp the subsequent turn for greater Salvo fire the subsequent turn. I was quite pleased with their performance in this loadout.

They're clearly one of the best marked marines due to being not overly expensive for what they get. Still not cheap in comparison to other armies but what can we do.

I usually run 10 with 2 blastmasters in a rhino, sitting in my backfrield. Since 2 can fire out of the hatches, you can drop the 2 ignore cover AP3 blasts every turn.
That really ruins any MEQ players day

My army has two squads of noise marines as well as Lucius.
One squad has 7 sonic blasters, 2 blast masters and a rhino for protection. They hang back and blap things with their blast masters, normally one shotting marine squads on the first turn, and if I'm against anything more horde-like, or some blood letters deep strike right in front of me for example, I get the noise out and deal with them using the sonic blasters and assault mode on the blast masters.
The other noise marines is a 9 man squad with Lucius that come into the game via Dreadclaw. The champion has a doom siren as well as Lucius, so they get to remove half of whatever they're assaulting before doing so. I also give them Icon of Excess for that FnP bonus in combat and then to give them a better chance at over watch or whatever else is thrown at them. Provided whatever Lucius is challenging dosnt have a higher initiative and instant death (Archons..) he will almost always win duels first turn.
So yea noise marines are pretty cool.
