So, uh, I've noticed a fair number of people voting for their own gallery posts, giving them 10's.

Does anyone else find this completely lacking in class? Is this anything that can be changed if it's a problem?

What's the point? It's not a competition, we can all see what is being voted on, so what is to gain? I would rather know what people think of my work than mess up the results for no gain. There's not even some sort of bragging rights. As my teachers used to say, they are only cheating themselves.

Occasionally it happens by accident on a touchscreen device - I've caught "N/A" and "3" on at least one of my images while trying to zoom using the bar.

Unless you mean someone has commented on their own image and it's shown up as 10/10 which is a poor show.

My only thought is that it could be to raise the vote count to 5 to see results?

This. I also accidentally voted one of my owns images and couldn't take it back - Otherwise I'm also guessing the 5/5 vote curiosity is the primary reason.

I vote for my own images, but I give them scores I think they are worth (higher than most other people think they are worth ha ha!)

But yeah, it's important to get to five votes to see the results.

I don't see why you shouldn't vote for your own image, if you've posted it to be voted on.

Political candidates vote for themselves.

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Although you can get a rough idea of what your under-fives have scored, by viewing all of your images and sorting by score. You won't see the actual number for anything with less than 5 votes, but they will slot in in order with your other images.

As soon as you get 5 votes, it only takes the average score from the mean 80%, so voting yourself up will get undone quickly as more people vote, and if an image is incorrectly rated highly, it will drop very quickly.
