Hi guys,

Just wanted you to have a look at my 1850 Tau list. It's designed to be competitive without being to cheese (yes it has 2 riptides but I really like them). I was hoping you guys could help me refine it a bit more and maybe trim some fat without making whole sale changes as whilst I dont mind getting a few things I dont want to be re-buying a whole army.

Farsight Enclaves CAD (everything has bonding knives so I wont include it in the listings)

HQ:
Commander
x2 Missile Pods, drone controller, iridium battlesuit, talisman of Arthas Moloch

Elite:
Riptide
HBC, Stims, VT

Riptide
ion accelerator, Early warning override

Troop:
x10 Breacher Team, Devilfish, Disruption Pod

x2 Crisis Battlesuits, x2 Fusion Blasters

x2 Crisis Battlesuits, x2 Fusion Blasters

x2 Crisis Battlesuits, x2 Cyclic Ion Blasters

Heavy Support
x2 Broadsides HYMP, EWO

Formations:
Drone-Net VX1-0
x4 squads of 4 Marker drones (one joins commander)

Optomized Stealth Cadre
Ghostkeel,
Ion Racker, TL Fusion Blaster, EWO, VT

x2 Squads of 3 Stealth Teams, x2 Burst Cannons and 1 Fusion blaster each

Total points:
1841 so I've still got some scraps of points left to spend.

I would personally put sensor spines on the devilfish, so it can move through cover with no risk or penalty.

And then potentially a target lock on the stealth fusions, so they can shoot separately of the unit, so if you face heavier armor, you stealths with burst cannons can still do something.

you don't have enough spare points to do even 2, not without sacrificing 1 breacher. But worthwhile IMO

Good point cheers, that would leave me with 4 spare points. I'm tempted to run ion blasters on a 2nd squad of battlesuits instead of fusion blasters but I'm not sure if I'll be lacking against armour 14.

So would you say 3 squads with Cyclic Ion Blasters? Or 2 squads with CIB and one with Fusion blasters?

Within your local meta, fatbudda319, are you more likely to run against land raiders and imperial knights, or eldar hi-jinks? I am tempted to assume the former, in which case I'd stay running fusions.

I am often running against SM and AM in my area, so CIB are just not in the sweet spot. Either they still get their saves, or its more expensive than a burst cannon which takes out mobs a bit better IMO. So I often run duel burst cannons with precision shots (take out those commissars/special characters that make their tactics work just a little better), duel plasma, or duel fusion.

It's pretty varied if I'm honest, nids, marines and Eldar being the most common but the majority of the other races including opposition tau make an appearance if less so. I must admit the only army I've tested my list out against so far has been Tyranids so that may be what's swaying me towards the CIB.

I know you don't want any 'cheese' but I am going to suggest, dropping the broadsides and one of the crisis units, and running a riptide wing =D

Then possibly run monat fusion suits, for objective grabbing and more MSU for target saturation.

Otherwise though, I think the list is pretty decent. Personally I dont equip fusion on the stealth teams, I equip a homing beacon. But my list has a lot more deep strike usually.
