Nope. Though these have all their benefits with one core choice, which can increase versatility. But a ton of free vehicles is going to be difficult to top. The Lion's Blade is a close second due to the same free vehicle bonus, but with Full BS Overwatch instead of Combat Maneuvers.

Umm, in what context is OP not OP? Game breaking? Not at all. Getting way more for the same cost (and no special restrictions)? You bet your ass.

"Hold on to your butts..." They still have to take a dangerous terrain test, so it isnt something that should be used on your own dudes, but it would be funny to watch.

It's auto include in every space marine army as it's just a free special weapon to random scrub.

Iron Hands look even better. FnP (5+) for most units is beastly. Not to mention essentially Splitfire on all their Vehicles.

But only within 12" of an IH IC which far, far, less useful.

Isn't potms way better than split fire? Can't I move a vindicator 12" and then potms the main cannon at no penalty? I picture smashbane on a bike in a command squad, leading a pack of vehicles.

There is some debate as to whether or not it works on blast or template weapons. I think it should, but that is me. Roll up with a squad of Vindicators with the chapter master and squad riding behind.

RaW it says replace a Space Marine, which only exist in the SM codex in the Tactical, Assault, and Devastator squads.

So, you get a SM toting relic-grade weapons for free in your army now? Also, maybe I missed it, but was there a "One Shot Only" restriction on that combi-disintegrator, or can it fire every turn? But it's no big deal, right? It's just one guy, right? This game gets more hilariously bad by the month.

The rules seem OK for the anniversary marine, but he should have a points value attached. He’s got a combi weapon and a special pistol. He should at least be +20 points to swap. Getting to take him for free is a pretty clear case of “Pay to Win” Did you buy him? He’s a no brainer. The only reason not to is if your army is composed of nothing but bikes/scouts/jump troops.

Quite unhappy with this.

The new psychic rules seem like a a GW designer sat around and said "Humm, what do deathstars need .... I know! More buffs and the ability to effect and physically move an enemies models! I'm so killing it today."

Says any space marine, so why not?

As for people whining that it's op, come on, really? It's a free strength 5 plasma gun, on ONE dude. It's most certainly not pay to win.

It's exactly the same point value and role as a model that costs 1/10 the price but far better and doesn't take any normal weapon slots like a special weapon trooper. I don't see how it's even marginally not pay to win.

Again, not game breaking, but that doesn't matter.

What if GW just said that your models get +1 strength if you spend an extra dollar you spend on it? Probably not game breaking, but still pay to win.

The "why not" is that LotD units are composed of “Legionnaire" and "Legionnaire Sergeant” not “Space Marine” Can’t swap.

It’s not game breakingly overpowered, but we have points for a reason. And while I know it’s in vogue to give out stuff for free these days, that doesn’t make it OK from a game balance POV. It’s just more fuel for the fire.

LotD are not Space Marines. They are Legionaires. The only units with Space Marine are Tactical, Assault, and Devastator Squads.

Those psychic powers are... wow. I'm a marines player and that is stupid. Nothing else seems TOO Broken, though. the Imperial marine is still one wound and t4, so he can be shot to death pretty easily. The formations look ok as-so-far, IH being the best but with vehicles being less than stellar this edition, their not super amazing even with POTMS, though it certainly helps. The psychic powers though are just, like, holy gak Geedubs. Honestly, I'm going to argue that atleast CSM can use all but Librarius, since them being able to use fewer power types than marines is fething dumb. Librarius does seem to be the "Discipline of the Emperor" though, so atleast lore wise it makes sense to leave it to the loyalists, though balance wise I could see the argument to the contrary. Just, seriously what the feth.

I'm sorry, but that's nonsense. This model isn't going to be the deciding factor in whether people win or lose. Nor is there anything stopping people using existing models, ie the one released thirty years ago, or indeed converting their own.

The rules look like they are being given away in white dwarf, so I could be wrong. By your metric an even slightly powerful unit is pay to win, pay to win is something like Skyhammer when it first came out. And even then that's up for debate as to if people who didn't buy the bundle could use the rules.

Like I said above its a free plasma gun, big whoop, it's interesting, but not game changing. Instant death is very situational, and strength 5 isn't exactly a big deal when grav and strength 7 plasma and strength 8 melta are easily available.

Should there have been more if a restriction on where in the army he could be placed? Maybe. Perhaps it should have been an upgrade for sergeants, or any model that could take a combi weapon. But clearly they wanted people to be able to put him in tac squads as he is a regular marine, the first of the regular marines in fact.

It's the mother of all Dakka over reactions to call this pay to win. This place is becoming a parody of itself now

I dunno a good lucky drop can come in and straight feth up a very expensive MC. its much more likely than expecting all the bolters in the unit of doing the same thing since instant death which is the big part of it. that can be game changing if its something like a DP or non Tau MC (because we all know they have EWO)

Edit: heck, killing two spawns, two centurions, or any other multi wound model is big.
