Subject: Space Marines 30th Anniversary - page#13 new marine rules & powers
As for people whining that it's op, come on, really? It's a free strength 5 plasma gun, on ONE dude. It's most certainly not pay to win.
So, would it be OP if it was a free meltagun? A free lascannon? Where's your OP Meter pegged at, GK? I'm really curious. Would it be OP if it instagibs a Carnifex in your army? How about if it drop pods next to your Stormsurge and insta-kills him on Turn 1? It's cool guys, it's not OP. This is the culture of 40K now.
I'm celebrating 8 years on Dakka Dakka!

S5 AP2 Instant Death for free is silly. I hate Riptides as much as everyone else, but come on.
I'm starting to think Black Templars and all the Chaos subfactions should form a Union and bargain collectively for rules that aren't blatantly worse than the other Space Marine factions.

Since its been pointed out a storm surge can't be instakilled, but takes d3 wounds, I guess something insta killing it would be pretty op wouldn't it
Like I said, it's a free 10-15 point upgrade. It's going to be useful sure, but it's not going to tip the scales.
Looks like Imperial Fists can take the following in Formationless Auxilliaries:
Devastator Squads
Centurion Squads (Assault or Devastator)
Thunderfire Cannons
Vindicators
Dreadnoughts
I must say, I am finding myself to be less salty given these revelations. Centurion Spam to the Max! But being able to take a squad of TFCs would help augment the killing potential too.

Haha, but this is a nuts update that SM are getting.
ok, I was wondering if I was missing something. Too bad we can't take control of a Riptide or Wraithknight like a Sorcerer Canal can.
True but the Imperial Marine can shoot down the Riptide with AP2 ID and do an easy D3 wounds on the Riptide, in addition to the easy access that SM have to Grav.

It may not tip the scales in Gws world of the narrative. But a free upgrade in a world of free tanks, uber killy deathstars and spammable D is just another nail.
The more GW change the more they stay the same.

don't Riptides have the ability to take a 4++ shield generator?

5+ standard, can be turned into a 3+. But still one shot to potentially remove something. Combined with the -2 to Invulnerable save Psychic Power lol. SM have an answer for everything.

For SM other armies exist as a puzzle to be solved.

Well, there's one model I'm going to require my opponent to present the official sculpt for.
If you want to be a complete petty, power gaming jackass and play your pay2win mini, I'm gonna ask to see the proof that you shelled out your money to daddy GW.
Can't wait for the next release - a special rhino that costs 1 point less if you get a "GWs little b***" tramp stamp.
"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"
"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"
"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"
"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

As a salamanders player I really should have learned by now that GW would destroy the hopes and dreams of the chapter and its players whenever possible. That second Fireblade bonus, yeesh. :(

The -2 to Invulnerable Saves is extremely harsh. Librarius Conclave just got cruel.

I'm hopping the FAQ comes back saying a model can only cast as many times as they have psyker mastery levels, maybe +! because primaris exists. Means the librarius can only cast 2-3 powers a turn, which would certainly be a nerf for it .

"Hooray!"
A new pinnacle of stubitity from GW. Oh, well....
Oh come on, that is HILARIOUS.
Is it bad that I now want to run a Conclave with my Guard and enough Bastions to fit everyone inside, roll Geokinesis...
And then take the fight from my fortifications to the enemy?
Attach bayonets, men! Today, we bring the might of the Emperor's fortresses to them!

Still better than the Black Templar formation bonuses...
Three of those psychic power charts seem like they ought to be added to the BRB powers next time around, with Librarius being the SM only tree.
