There's a sample box pictured on the Kickstarter page.

Heh, no I mean a real box opening. Something to show its the 11 minis arent 10 mantic zombies and a deadball dude with the rest of the value coming from bunch of art cards with a MSRP of 40 bucks and a real world value of 40 cents. These are closing in on $60 here in the states when you factor in shipping. Promising a savings of at least 20% isnt terribly exciting, when that's more or less standard online store discount. Loot Crate for comparison is $20 for at least $45 of random stuff.

I wish you the best of luck, but this isn't for me. I was initially interested but ~$60 for products from a very small range of manufacturers that have little consistency in their sculpts makes me think that I would be better served using my hobby budget elsewhere.

Perhaps this idea would have been better if you had different categories of box;
- sci fi
- fantasy
- historical
- modern
- large scale
So that way people more interested in one genre that another could get items that better cater to their tastes.

Wow after our first day Mini-Crate is now over 30% funded!!! And I'm sure with your help, we are going to smash our funding goal, and make Mini-Crate a reality.

I know some of you are feeling wary about what’s going to be in this first Mini-Crate, and I've learned that launching a surprise crate on Kick-Starter is pretty hard when you can't show a potential Backer what they are getting for backing you. But I believe in this idea so much and I want to make Mini-Crate the best it can be. If this project goes as well, I hope to take on a lot of what has been talked about on this forum especially multiple themed boxes aimed at more specific categories and more community input to help shape the items placed into each Crate.

After 3 days of running on Kick-Starter and we are now 57% funded, can we make it to over 60% by the end of the day?

Thanks to everyone who's already visited us here and to everyone who's commented, shared or even had a conversation with a friend!

If you haven't checked us out already, heres the link to our LIVE Kick-Starter. Don't miss out on this great project!

Gonna put my two cents in here. The concept is cool. The price and the likelihood that I will get miniatures and things I don't want is not cool at all.

There isn't enough here to really convince me that this is a good deal for me. I like the idea of getting a chance to see other companies minis, but for this price I may as well just order what I want direct.

Being able to select the genre or theme of the crate would go a long way to increasing value. I only really collect 40k, so anything that isn't sci fi isn't going to float my boat.

Maybe down the track I will see reviews and they will prove my fears and doubts unfounded, which would be happy news, but at this point it is a huge upfront cost into another high risk Kickstarter that I am going to have to pass on.

Nothing I have said hasn't already been said, I'm just reiterating it FWIW

From the comments:

"this first Mini-Crate is going to contain a total of 11 great miniatures from Mantic Games from two of their games 'Dreadball' and 'Lords of War'"

I don't mean to be "that guy", but the game is called "Kings of War", and has a distinct lack of Nic Cage

While this Mini Crate is not for me, I'm glad to see you are progressing. Good luck with the project!

So after some ups and downs in the pledges over the last few days, due to some backers not digging the Mantic Miniatures (Hey you can’t please everyone) we now have 12 Days to go and are now a massive 89% funded absolutely amazing! Can we keep up this momentum and even achieve our first stretch Goal??

If you haven't already seen our KS campaign then come check us out and let us know what yea think-

So, apparently the campaign were suspended by KS and is now set to relaunch on Indigogo instead.

What was it they had a problem with?

I would guess either the golden ticket scheme counting as a raffle/contest or the whole idea being a case of "repackaging without adding anything new"
https://www.kickstarter.com/rules/prohibited

But that should have been noticed in the pre-approvement you say you got from KS

It happened after he showed what you got in the crate, so I'm guessing reselling Mantic minis was the violation. Either that or KS finally realised he was having a raffle with the golden ticket.

Most likely it was due to the Kickstarter wasn't really creating something new. It is basically a 'random' gift box of items that are prepackaged. Since the rewards aren't a set item because they have random things and they aren't actually creating something new (repackage doesn't meet that requirement). Then add the raffle, even though the raffle wasn't part of the Kickstarter and is in the final product, they don't like raffles. All those things added together would be enough.

IIRC, KS doesn't pre-approve projects anymore. Something about being too busy rolling around in money, I suppose...

Hmm, so the restarted campaign in Indigogo, still hasn't launched and the creator hasn't been heard from at all for over a week.

I wonder if those backers didn't just dodge a bullet here.

Starting? It looked like something to avoid from the start and I'm honestly surprised it managed to get to 89% or whatever I. kS

Me too. Apparently there were more than a few people willing to pay $50-$60 for a handful of cheap Mantic minis.

Wales: Where the Men are Men and the sheep are Scared.

I honestly can't see how 11 mantic minis would be worth the box price at all. They would likely be cheaper any online discounte

Yeah, like someone said earlier, you'd be hard pressed to GIVE away Mantic PVC minis... I'd consider them to be worth at most $1 per mini.

Another fraud shot down before it was too late.

Good. Sometimes, the system works.

Not sure it was fraud. They may well have had every intention of seeing it through. It was just a terrible deal.

Still not a good deal by a ny means, but it wasn't just the mantic minis.

I have to agree with this. There's not really any evidence of fraud here, as far as I can tell.
