Going by memory as I'm at work

Interrogator Chaplain on Bike w/ mace of redemption, shroud of heroes
Lvl 2 librarian on bike

5 black knight command squad w/ company banner and apothecary

5 black knights
5 bikes, 1 is vet sgt w/ melta bombs and combi grav. 2 grav guns
5 bikes, 1 is vet sgt w/ melta bombs and combi grav. 2 grav guns
5 bikes, 1 is vet sgt w/ melta bombs and combi grav. 2 grav guns

ravenwing support squadron
3 land speeder typhoons with multi meltas and 1 Darkshroud

puts me around 1780 points IIRC.

I ran this last night for the first time vs TAU and it did pretty good. i won by victory points.With the extra points I'm thinking another librarian (lvl 1) on a bike

This is basically the same list I run, but I have a squad of melta bikers instead of all grav. You could also add 2 multi-melta attack bikes if you wanted for extra AP.

A grav alpha strike with an orbital bombardment. ooof... that will hurt this army lots.

How will it be any different from any other army an alpha strike force might face?

Well, firstly the knight command squad is very vulnerable without a box. The speeders have their jink sure, but SMS from tau will bust them open quickly.

I orbital bombarment bike squads to ignore cover mostly and insta kill them. No other army has that S10 AP1 barrage cept guard manticores iirc. Its something to watch out for.

I would take a flyer if i could. Get some more anti tank and anti air power. Most armies can deal with a null deployment to counter alpha strike armies, but there isnt much in the way of safety here. The RW formation requires all 4 of those speeders to be within 6", and unless you daisy chain them, they will be taking pie to the face. =/

How do you ignore cover with your orbital strike? With the Hunter's Eye?

Its barrage IIRC and cover is detemined from the center of the blast. May just be mis remembering it

So in other words, nothing prevents the original target from jinking?

No. but jink is cover and if the barrage its center they wont be getting cover

The only way an orbital bombardment ignores cover if the white scars "hunters eye",(that I'm aware of)
and I'll be jinking 2+ rerollable because of the dark shroud (which I'll be within 6 inches of.).
