To add, if you look at Calgar's fluff its also quite farfetched, holding off an entire ork horde alone for a whole day. How did any Orks still get to him after an hour? Must have looked like Mount Everest by the end.

Is this meant to mean "worst fluff written by GW for your army?" or "worst fluff you crowbarred into a story line while playing your army in 40k?"

If the first I would say the fact there are only 1,000 marines per chapter and probably more ultramarines die a day on the tabletop world wide than could even exist in the fluff..

As regards to my gaming fluff: once had a 5 way game with a nieces model unicorns on a terrain piece litterally made by GW for LOTR movie. She had rage and fleet and 3 attacks base. While I defended the actual GW real Minas Tirith with Chaos Space Marines from the Dark Vengeance box set.

I think I shot one Unicorn (far too early for a 6 year old to cope with ) then feeling guilty changed targets to my Brothers (her dads) Eldar Guardians who did rather better and then I sort of tussled with my Brother at long range while the Unicorns poured over the bulwark and ate me alive.

There was also a 2 legged dinosaur in it as well somewhere.

How about the Galvanic Rifles, which supposedly discharge all of the potential energy of the weapon's targets?
So basically actually shooting a person with a Galvanic Rifle would probably convert the person's mass directly to energy and release enough energy to turn a small city into a crater.
I like to treat it as the Mechanicus not knowing what they're doing, and the guns actually being the electric rifles from 20,000 leagues under the sea.

Back during the Crusade a massive ork empire had developed powerful plasma technology never seen before or since. During the Imperial invasion of their main planet Empy took a plasma cannon hit that knocked him enough to give the huge warboss time to throttle the Emps. Horus came in with the last minute save. Getting their hands around the emperor's neck will probably be the orks biggest claim to fame.

I don't know whether to be happy or disappointed that we had to get almost all the way down the page before a fellow GK player came clean about the BS in our 5th ed codex.

Also just... Draigo. Could have been an interesting character if they pushed the Sisyphean/never-ending/hopeless struggle angle more, and toned down the "AND THEN HE CARVED HIS BFF'S NAME ON MORTARION'S HEART BECAUSE MARY SUE BLAH BLAH BLAH!" There was a lot of potential there to explore the broader nature of the Grey Knights as the tiny spark in the darkness, always fighting but never making a lasting impact (even 1000 years is just a drop in the bucket for Chaos). In the past they heavily focused on the "Judge Dredd-esque" aspect of only ever being able to deal with a tiny percentage of daemonic incursions, and using Draigo as the poster boy for that kind of narrative might have made for some good canon, but they got too deep into the wacky warp fun times and he felt too much like an overpowered self-insert fanfic character.

It's basically mandatory for any Codex/army book special character to have at least one OTT fluff piece. It's right up there with the obligatory "this army is very good at killing stuff, and, if not for the perpetual stale-mate lock of the setting, would probably be running the galaxy by now" blurb you get in the introduction.
