I probably shouldn't get back into the game but I have moved to a new area with players more along the lines of competition I enjoy. (Last place I played enjoy up placing ALOT of restrictions to the point I quit.)
From what I see players here are very competitive often bringing in many forgeworld pieces and high grade armies.
Having Played Necrons back in 4th (Don't like the new Necrons of 5th/7th damint I want the real C'tan back) and Tau/IK/GK in 6th/7th early on. I have decided to try my hand at a Skittari/Admech force.
Question is what is Most effective tournament wise?
Having looked over Adepticon I noticed a distinct lack of admech (Weere they even fielded?) so first I would like to confirm they are a viable choice and 2nd whats the (Subjective I know) best list generally to run them as.
From what I have read it appear to be either the Battle Conclave or Skitarii Drop pod spam with BA flesh tearers. Or maybe there is something I am not seeing.
Would love to hear everyones thought and experiences on the matter.

Adeptus Mechanicus War Convocation with Flesh Tearers for drop pods and maxed out grav on the Kataphrons is likely the most competitive build. Put Arc Rifles on your Vanguard and Rangers, and an Icarus Array or Neutron Laser on the Onager. Knight Crusader is probably the best knight for Convocation, but I've heard good things about the Warden and Gallant.

Peregrine - If you like the army buy it, and don't worry about what one random person on the internet thinks.

Max Vanguard .. so good for 9pts/model
6s cause free wounds against any toughness. essentially they can be BS5 for 3 turns (+3, +2, +1) ..

Hey they were rare at Adepticon because those missions so favored Objective Secured. War Convocation does very well in other tournament formats. Just know it's a very difficult and complicated list to play, much like some demon lists.

War Convocation is right! Arc rifles are great for anti tank if needed. But under the War Convocation formation the entire army ignores gets hot, and gets free upgrades....I will take the 30pts Assault 3 plasma gun every time. Heavy Gravcannons on the kataphrons are very powerful. but also are surprisingly fragile if you dont get the first turn.
As far as the Flesh tearers detachment in the convocation it gets kinda tight, since you have to take min squads to get the points in, plus to take the minimum requirements for the Detachment ( HQ/Troop/ FA) The usefulness of the drop pods gets reduced since they are bringing in min squads that are extremely fragile.

Pretty sure the Pods are for the Kataphrons and AdMech melee units, not the min BA Scouts.

His statement is correct. Sicarian are Bulky units(2 slots rather than 1 in transports/buildings) and Kataphron are Very Bulky units(3 instead of 1).
In a Drop Pod you can fit 10 models. That means 5 Sicarian(the minimum sized unit) and 3 Kataphron(the minimum sized unit).

I love war convocation!! None of your units is a tax they all have a job. The canticles on your skitarii cc dudes makes them really scary since a lot of the canticles favor cc. Your dudes are fragile but you can give them two turns of 2+ cover saves with shroudpsalm and any sort of cover.

The pods are for Kataphrons and vanguard, maybe rangers. But to save enough points you have to take min squads meaning 3 Kataphrons...or 5 vanguard/rangers.
Why would you put Sicarians in pods? They are extremely mobile and can almost always get a second turn assault.

BTW while nearly everyone buys drop pods for Kataphrons I think driving some in rhinos is a good move. Protected inside the Rhino they still have 2/3 of their shooting. And if the Rhino is wrecked, they can simply disembark behind it. It's not like they're Objective Secured. They're more interested in fire lanes.
