So in light of the new psychic disciplines, which it seems pretty clear that any space marine librarian now has access to, how would this change a cent star build?

Specifically I'm trying to craft one where I can only have 2 detachments with no formations whatsoever.

And this might be a bit of a thing for YMDC, but the phrase "any librarian with the space marines faction, regardless of which chapter he is drawn from, may generate powers from these disciplines in addition to the ones listed on his datasheet" pretty clearly indicates to me that Loth can choose his powers from these new disciplines. Correct me if that's crazy.

Trying to run a Cent Star with no Libcon is silly. Best way to do it is Libcon(DA) with Ezekial Ultra CAD with Tiggy, tiggy on invis, ezekial and the other Libconers on the Terrain thingy, Skyshield landing pad.

Normally I wouldn't. It's for a tournament with a no formation format.

You going to the Time Warp tourney? haha

CAD1
Libby lvl3 with hammer
Libby lvl3 with hammer

5xStrike squad
5xStrike squad

LoW: Draigo

CAD2
Tiggy
Libby lvl2 with force axe
Cypher (for HnR and shroud)

Scout (Put them in LS Storm if you want)
Scout

5 Grav Cents, Sgt w Omni

Not sure how many points is this, but you might be able to fit a dread knight in? But thats 15 WC to play with. Tiggy roll on telepathy for invis if your opponent has a lot of AP2 shooting, if not roll on Librarius for veil of time. Everyone else can roll on fulmination/sanctic.

What's the point of the CAD with the Grey Knights in that list? With the Nemesis you could lose one Strike squad.

No formations are allowed. Hence, the CAD.

Draigo and two level 3 Libby's and a white scars CAD for Hunters Eye.

Draigo is there for mobility and tanking wounds

Interesting. So no one thinks Loth is worth it? He seemed like a mainstay to me. Then again, it also looks to me like he gets those new librarian powers. Guess I should check with the TO to be sure

I was thinking between either:

Red Scorpions CAD and GK CAD

or

Red Scorpions CAD and UM CAD

He's good, but to me, the Ignore Cover Relic is way too good to pass up for Centurions, so I would include White Scars for sure.

Then you're left with the GK as allies, if only to preserve Chapter Tactics.

NSF isn't a formation, it's a Detachment like a CAD.

NSF:

L3 Librarian

Strike Squad

Dreadknight w/ Sword, Psycannon, heavy incinerator
Dreadknight w/ Sword, Psycannon, heavy incinerator

Draigo

Allied UM/Red Scorpions

Tigurius or Loth

Scouts in LSS

Grav Cents x5, SGT with Omniscope

Fill in points with Cents/Scouts/whatever.

Tigurius/Loth go for invis, Librarian goes for Divination, Librarius, or whatever you want, and Draigo is for movement and being a tank.

depending on the points value, consider Stern. He comes default with Sanctuary - and if you go for Veil...

Loths special rule states which trees he is allowed to pick from. There is no exception to allow him to pick from Librarius, etc.

I wouldn't stop you from rolling on those trees, though. But he has nothing that allows him to pick from them.

Haha yes I am.

Wait, grey Knights can do fulmination? Isn't the space marine faction different than the grey knight faction?

In the same way, I don't know if blood angels or space wolves or dark Angels get these powers

If they do, I'm definitely going GK CAD and red scorpions CAD

I mean if you're rolling on div 3 times, you can probably get that power. Plus I think there's another one on the fulmination tree the lets you ignore LOS as well. What you give up with your list is no tiggy and no Loth. Guaranteeing powers is big and I think ignores cover is lower on the priority list than veil of time and invis for most matchups

Let's your strikes teleport in turn one, at least. And your GK librarian can reroll for the no scatter deep strike when you GOI.

Unless you want Storm of Fire, of course.

Could definitely be a useful trait. But what is storm of fire? I'm only familiar with the Tau version of that rule

Tigurius comes with that warlord trait. One unit drawn from the same chapter gets rending on their shooting weapons. For that shooting phase.

So Centurions can get rending for their hurricane bolter

Gotchya. Was trying to find it in the GK dex haha

It's not bad, but is a 5 man cent unit lacking for AP 2 lol?

You can never have enough AP2. Ever.

Unfortunately with only 2 sources, you have to pick your poison. I think Draigo is a must-take, which leaves you with what Chapter to take for the SM detachment. You can take Loth for certain guaranteed powers. However, where you are lacking is the ability to Ignore Cover, which you will have to rely on rolling for. Or you can take White Scars for guaranteed Ignores Cover and just roll for the rest. The advantage with White Scars is that you also get Hit-&-Run.

As for Red Scorpions and UM, I don't like to do that because then you lose both Chapters' Chapter Tactics. You also aren't as great in tanking and you have to fish for both Perfect Timing and Gate.

Thanks for everyone's help!

I think what I've settled on is this:

White Scars CAD:

Libby - ML2, 2+/3++
Libby - ML 2, 2+/3++

5 Tacs in drop pod
2x5 scouts in land speeder storms

5 grav cents, hurricane bolters, omniscope

1 empty drop pod

NSF

GK Libby, ML3, hammer
GK Libby, ML3, hammer

5 strikes - they'll ride the pod if they want to

Dreadknight w/teleporter, psycannon, incinerator

Draigo
