Do they have drop pods?

If they have to get to the planet surface fast from a space ship do they use drop pods?

I am assuming they use other smaller drop ships to get on planet but what if it needed to get there very fast? Is it unheard of to use a drop pod?

TO be honest I've never heard of a Knight Drop Pod. the biggest thing I know of to have a drop pod is a Dreadnought.

The largest drop pod I know of in lore is the Kharybdis Assault Claw. It could hold a bunch of marines or a pair of Dreadnoughts and it was used during the Great Crusade.

Something the size of a Knight is far to heavy to warrant a drop pod.

I think they have their own landers or can go in other larger craft.
I sometimes imagine them dropping out of space craft like the machines in Mech Warrior. But that's just me and I can't find anything that says they do that.

There are drop pods for even the largest of titans, so a knight shouldn't be too much of an issue to drop-pod to the surface.

I imagine Imperial Knights use something like this as their transport

In the Horus Heresy series, there is a Titan drop pod.
The Dies Irae got on Davin's moon by drop pod.
Then it is quicky described how they retrieve everything (hundreds of people are needed IIRC)

Wasn't that a mass lander? Like it didn't come slamming out of the sky, right on top of the enemy? I may be wrong, I just recall it being a more controlled descent than a drop pod.

No it is deployed via drop pod and retrieved with lifters.

Something like the Leopard Class would fit perfectly, since Imperial Knights are roughly the size of Battlemechs.

In the fluff so far it talks of them being unloaded from bulk lander craft, never have seen a droppod.

yup, they also deploy in units in size from 3-5 so... yeah a Leopard would be pretty good.

One of my favorite fluff bits was how the Iron Warriors used a captured Tyranid ship that gakked the titans out when they needed to be offloaded. Storm of Iron, if I recall properly.

I actually came here just to ask about how Knights move from planet to planet... do you happen to know where it mentions the bulk lander craft?

Guess I'll make a separate thread ha.

Pls no.

I imagine they move between planets just like everything else...in a spaceship. Probably one controlled by the Knight House that owns the Knight.

I though they are almost always built on site.

although would be funny to see a GIANT drop pod take up half the table.

Titans can be dropped in a "drop pod" style unit so no reason to think knights couldnt be.
