Hey everyone, looking for some ideas on how to kit out some DW terminators. I want to add 2 shooty squads into my army for some support to my green wing guys. I havent played enough games to really figure it out on my own.

Not looking to debate on if one should use terminators this edition and how good bike armies are.

Thanks Everyone!

There isn't really a wrong answer IMO; if shooting is what you need then don't bother swapping for lightning claws/thunder hammer and storm shield. The latter can be useful for taking hits from anything AP2, but if you're deep striking then it's better to just avoid such things if you can.

Assault Cannon has good synergy with the Storm Bolter seeing that's pretty much the same thing but better; same range, more shots, higher strength, better AP and Rending, letting it hurt tougher opponents too.

Heavy Flamer is better for mowing down horde infantry or just putting hits on anything that's closely packed, also good for Overwatch if you get charged, it's also the cheapest option.

Plasma Cannon is actually pretty good on terminators IMO; with AP2 it's handy if your enemy has terminators or armour 2+ stuff of their own, plus you can use the extra range to really take advantage of Split Fire.

Cyclone Missile launcher is the most expensive, but a good all-rounder due to the two profiles giving you either two blasts or two shots with good Strength and AP. Again, this one has extra range is good for use with Split Fire.

The important thing really is the deep striking; let the enemy commit to whatever they're going to do, then beam in and mess up their plans, if you use the Deathwing formation you can run after shooting (or before), which means you can shoot one target then move towards another, maybe with Split Fire for good measure. It's really all down to target selection.

So yeah, you can't really go wrong, the real question is what your greenwing consists of, as that will determine what you need from your Deathwing to balance it out.

Well, you have four choices. Some of the rest of your list will dictate what weapons make most sense in the role you intend the termies to play. However, as a rule of thumb, the plasma cannon option is seen as too situational. Most people do a decent job of spacing their models apart, and it has a single shot that gets hot (both negatives). The heavy flamer is too short ranged and relies on perfect DSing, so there's that. Either the assault cannon or CML are good choices, and arguments can be made for one over the other.

You mean we can't piss and moan? B-but, it's sorta what we do here...

I would recommend tooling them up as CC terminators and just mounting some Cyclone Launchers on some guy's back. Terminators have Relentless so this makes the most of it and still let you bash in faces. However this is mainly because I think the stormbolter is kinda worthless. I forget if you still get the extra shot when you teleport in (I think it's a formation rule rather than their innate rule now?) so there's even less reason to use the stormbolters (If you're using the formation or they still have it, then I'd go with stormbolters and try to unload it into a horde squad after teleporting).

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do.
