Krieg! What a hole...

Might be a bit of a reach, but seeing all these new GW units gives me hope we'll see Scions when the IG expansion shows up. Yeah, Kasrkins were cool, and so were Stormtroopers in DoW 2, but I really like the latest model bunch.

Basebuilding is not bad in gameplay terms. SC2 is fun.

It's just beyond pants-on-head stupid. Marines do not build a small city and then attack. They attack attack attack, faster than the Guard or anyone else could. That is their JOB.

And don't get me started on Eldar.

Agreed. I was hoping for a basebuilding mechanic similar to the new XCOM games. Battle Barge/Strike Cruiser gets heavily damaged in the opening cinematic, the player then has to repair/rebuild sections of the ship that give access to new units/equipment/abilities. From there you would basically assemble an army list for each mission and launch.

Well that's just goddamn brilliant and I'm now sorely disappointed they're not making that game.

I also hope it's not just 3 factions at launch. That would be bad.

What screenshots are those? Because the ones I've seen look like the DOW1 sized armies.

Well this certainly was a pleasant surprise.
Another weird thing is that it appears to have three of the previous commanders from previous games. The Steam page mentions Gorgutz, Farseer Macha, and even Gabriel Angelos to lead these armies. Though I gotta admit, seeing how there are newer units teased in the trailer kind of gets my hopes up.
Slightly curious as to whether or not this will be more narrative-based, like vanilla and the DOW 2 games, or if it will be a bit more like Dark Crusade and Soulstorm, where it's a Risk-like campaign with skirmishes during each conquest.

I laugh if somebody replaces all those bodies falling from the sky with skittles falling from a rainbow with the tagline 'taste the rainbow!'.

Also when that body lands on that helmet-less marine at the end i'd laugh my balls off if that marine farted on him. Perhaps i have a childish sense of humor though.

It is quite a beautiful look they got... kind of reminiscent of HR Giger, IMO.

I'm also digging the "raining men" imagery... kind of gives me hope there will be proper Chaos Zombies or something down the line.

While it's a neat look I do feel it goes against the general Eldar aesthetic which is organic (DoW 3 Eldar still is this) and smooth (DoW 3 eldar isn't this).

Seeing the Knights there defiantly gave me hope seeing a lot of new things.

I hope there's more than just the 3 factions in the game. That would be a disappointment. When I saw the trailer and the superheavies battling it out, I was hoping the Tau would be in the game with a Stormsurge!

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

Its a possibility.

It'll be a better super-unit than the Greater Knarloc, for sure

From what I understand there's only the three factions at launch, but others will be added later.

I'm extremely hyped for this game. I've bought ever DoW game that's come out since Dark Crusade, and this one will be no exception. Only having 3 factions on launch is a tad disappointing, but I'm willing to wait for the others to be released. In the meantime I'll have plenty of fun with my Marines

I enjoyed both of the previous games, so I'll eventually pick this one up regardless of overall design decisions that have been made. Now about that sequel to Space Marine . . .

The campaign will only be the 3 factions revealed so far. There are hints there is a 4th faction in the game already, possibly Necrons.

The tried and true formula is Chaos, Eldar, Orks, and Imperium (Space Marines) - I don't know why they'd stray from that. And before everyone loses their gak and replies with something about how 'breaking the mold' and 'doing something different' is more important - I don't really care what factions are in the game at launch, I'm buying the gak out of this game day 1 - broken or not.

Same for me. I love the DoW series, and I suspect that I'll love this game just as much (if not more) than it's predecessors
