I feel like these dudes don't have a walking animation. And yet, there still pretty sweet in dawn of war 1.
What do you guys think about the orks? In any genre. Video games, and table top alike....
And maybe something about these buggers

In the fluff they are bloody difficult to get rid of. There's a massive horde of them, and even if you finally kill them all, they lay spores which "grow" Orks.

If you can't believe in yourself, believe in me! Believe in the Dakka who believes in you!

Visually impressive on the tabletops. Laughably inefficient, though.

Also, they've gone from "relatively cheapo horde army" to "stuff only millionaries dream about". Their units have one of the worst cash-per-points ratio in the entire game, and you often need multiples of kits that are priced well over the 50€ mark. In the end, this was the main reason why I've confined them to the shelf of shame.

You mean something like the Mek gun?

Where you need 5 of them to fill out a unit, and each one costs $46. Ohh and did I mention that they are 18pts base and 39pts maxed out. Now don't get me wrong I am insanely happy that they are cheap as hell points wise, they are probably the only unit in the entire codex that might be a tad bit under priced. But work out that math thats almost $2.50 per point

I was thinking of Meganobz, too. Three dudes for 55€. Wow.

Nobs, four dollars less for a unit of boyz. But take 5 away and add a larger ork. With more weapon options

The orks in the recently released trailer for Dawn of War 3 look awesome. Also worth a read of Rynn's world from Black library. Some great Ork moments in that book

Fantastic concept, poor implementation. Or as I like to say, par for the course for gw.

warhammer 40k mmo. If I can drive an ork trukk into the back of a space marine dread and explode in a fireball of epic, I can die happy!

They are freakn great!, from a fluff, lore and model sense, Wish they would all be plastic, and wish the value of their rulez matched their dollar value as others have said, meganobz, mek guns need to either be hella stronger or hella cheaper to purchase

I just picked up the ork start collecting box and im overjoyed =D

The Orks are the pinnacle of creation. For them, the great struggle is won. They have evolved a society which knows no stress or angst. Who are we to judge them? We Eldar who have failed, or the Humans, on the road to ruin in their turn? And why? Because we sought answers to questions that an Ork wouldn't even bother to ask! We see a culture that is strong and despise it as crude.

I love my ork army. They've helped me improve my painting of yellow (why did I choose badmoons as my first army oh god) and my painting of skin. Some of the best models that you can do a lot with.

Am I bummed about how bad they are currently? Well duh. Id rather just tough it out till they get some love instead of just ragequitting GW all together. My friends and I are not tournament players so my orks are relatively viable. You can always make scenarios more 'gak tier army' friendly.

Besides when you miss 90% of your shots, it makes all the hits so much more satisfying

I love them. I love their fluff, their attitude, their look, their playstyle, everything. They're one of the few races in the galaxy that's out to just have some goddam fun.

You know, I was thinking the same thing about a dour, humourless, grey bore who always pops up in these threads.

I wish they'd be more powerful on the table, that GW makes justice for the threat they represent.

I picture the factions of 40k as divided in two major sides: the settlers/builders (Imperium, Eldar, Taus) and the nomads/hunters (Orks, Tyranids, Chaos).

GW should really work on the balance between both sides, as the nomads are in need of specific attention nowadays. Tyranids or Orks should be feared by the established factions. A green tide should get the as dangerous as it's currently visually impressive.

Today I feel Orks are mainly there to make Imperium looks good and win at the end. Balance would be welcome.

orks are the true settlers they take their entire ecosystem with them when they travel to a new world.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
The orks ae a good excuse to buy and model but urently they are not an army intended to be played and this is a shame
