They just had the original AND the updated versions of the supplements up, and the outdated ones are no longer available.

I can't see why the supplements would be incompatible with a new codex. Aren't they largely just formations?

Yeah, they wouldn't be invalidated unless EVERY unit in the book got renamed.

That is my thought. Unless they absolutely change the codex at a fundamental level, the supplements should still work. Hopefully even better than before due to better rules on units and points reductions.

Maybe the CSM box is just being replaced with the Dark Vengeance models? Then they could do away with the codex entirely and just rely on dataslates like how they do with Genestealer Cult. So every CSM squad from now on will have the same 6 dudes - the axe guy, the claw guy, the fist guy, the maul guy and the 2 bolter guys. And if you buy the axe champion you can even get a meltagun shot in your army. Sweet.

While I wouldn't mind those models being put into the main range, as we dont have any models for chosen, I think even GW wouldn't get rid of one of their biggest selling sets.

By all accounts there's no new CSM codex coming soon. As for new models, who the hell knows. New models can drop with new rules at pretty much any time these days.

I assume it is just reboxing with 32mm bases to get in line with other MEQ. As for codex or big releases, I was told not this year but my god would I love to be wrong. Plastic Thousand Sons would be sweet and would likely due to FW also supposedly releasing Magnus about christmas. No valid sources, just corralating and wishful thinking!

Once more my local GW manager (who I've known 10 years) said this summer is a lot of AoS releases but "...they might eek out a surprise csm release in late June..."

I have hope.....but it's buried in a metric ton of salt and broken false rumors.

I'll be honest, I have no interest in buying CSM or playing them, but I desperately want them to get an update for the sake of the game. I would love to have more armies to face off against.

I'd love an update. I remember the day when the CSM plastics came out. Hell, I remember the day the Berzerker kit came out, and it was glorious back then.

For me, it was simply amazing that the snow banks were only 3 feet high when the Berserker kit originally came out, instead of being taller than an actual Space Marine, meaning I could actually open my front door and get down to the local store to buy some!

Among a dozen other things that did happen..... Hope he was right this week with his hints and winks and subtle mentions (I am putting together a Nurgle army and he said he has to send several of his Chaos boxes back to HQ and he will get new in June, "so wait for the revamped stuff.").

It wasn't a knock on your source. Rather, just a humorous remark that we seem to get at least 3 Chaos rumors a week, hence the,

I just hope that we get options for once... New models without a new codex could be a disaster for us, as we're in desperate need of new toys of our own. Autocannons don't cut it against Gauss or Scatlasers, nor do Plasma guns compete anymore vs. Grav and D-scythes and the like.
Ideally, I feel a reasonable pistol/special/heavy weapon pool for us would be;
- Hand flamer, Plasma pistol.
- Flamer, Meltagun, Plasma gun, Kai gun (2-3 shot, S6, low ap - designed for killing MC's/slight effect vs. vehicles, mutation effect)
- Heavy flamer, Heavy bolter, Missile launcher, Autocannon, Lascannon, 'weird Chaosy name' cannon (a heavy 2 'blast' weapon w/pinning effect - not really amazing, but definitely could give the vibes of a corrupted plasma-based weapon!)

We'd still be well behind Loyalist scum and their OP grav cannons, but at least we'd finally have some options of our own to play around with.

Yes, options are good. There's nothing worse than a bland codex with no options for customisation.
My favourite was the black one (4th?) where you could create all kinds of Lords and Princes by adding different gifts. There were loads of cool daemon weapons as well. It was a converter's dream, because for once, you could model something unique and actually have unique stats that matched the model. Nowadays, no matter what your model looks like, it's either a generic lord or prince, and that's not very chaotic

That was the fabled 3.5ed codex, and yes, those were the days! (which we're still apparently paying for...)

Possessed are still 'sold out', humorously enough, despite every single formation iirc in the new Crimson Slaughter supplement requiring at least one unit of them! And the lone Biker + bike upgrade kit are likewise still gone.

To be honest, I'm not that interested in the power of the codex, but I'd like a chaos codex to be fun and reflect the fluff.
The new one is just so bland, save for the chaos boon table - that's a lot of fun. The fear that your champion will turn into a spawn is brilliant.

The khorne codex is slightly better, but I still feel there's something missing. It's partly the eavy metal pages, actually. They used to showcase all kinds of weird and wonderful conversions and golden daemon winners, but now they just show the range of standard models in slightly different colour schemes. BORING!

At the moment, I'd settle for some new khorne berserkers and CSM troops, and maybe some kind of chosen / command boxset with some interesting weapons and banners and things like that. Something to get my imagination going!

What you say is plausible, but it's more than just boxsets - see the list posted earlier. There are all kinds of things that are sold out on the UK site that are just supplied in bags.

To be fair, the rumours were always that chaos would get something, just not a new codex let alone dark eldar revamp. We got new boxes and supplements already so it's not impossible to see ....something. So yea, it's possible, but I wouldn't get my hopes up too high for something awesome.

I could see them releasing new models for certain units that are unlikely to change gear wise. Like Noise Marines and Berzerkers. Even if they add things like power scythes or so they could pass it off as a power weapon until we get a new dex with new rules. Even if we get fancy new weapons I wouldn't be surprised if those don't use them. So releasing them now wouldn't necessarily impact the possibility of a new dex.

CSM still "sold out: no longer available" in the Uk.

As is the CSM Bike, and the vehicle, tank and mutation accessory sprues.

Sudden restocks may mean it's something or nothing, or it may mean stock is returning into distribution hubs (as customer returns, overstocks etc) and therefore only a few boxes are temporarily available.

For what it is worth there seem to be a lot of items "sold out, no longer available" across multiple factions. If they were just out of stock, it would say something like "out of stock". So what ever it is I don't think it is strictly CSM. I doubt a new CSM codex anytime soon. Maybe it's some new models? But my guess is they are repackaging them or bundling stuff together.
