He's great in 30K. 40K, not so much. 200+ points of grav bait.

I wouldn't say that because only two units are actually good at abusing grav (Bikes and Cents) as ever other grav use is a non-relentless infantry unit.
Eldar have 3 units that abuse StrD (WK, Wraithguard, Wraith Artillery)

Ohhhhhhh yes! Last I heard, automata (the reason you want to play mechanicus) weren't going to be in the new IA book. I'm incredibly excited to see that's been changed!
My armies full of Thanatars and Castellaxi shall stomp to glory and finally people won't be able to go "but muh unsupported FW ruleset...." While they plop sicarians and Fire raptors down on the table.

aka big daddy boom cannon, one of the finest looking models in all of 40k/30k visually imo. when he comes round he brings all the elven ladies out of the fantasy boxes and to the yard to fawn over his sleek lines and big strong shoulders

I think it was mentioned quite some time ago in the Forge World thread that the Thanatar is likely to be the only robot that gets ported over, we're more likely to see Triaris, Krios and maybe Thallax than Castellax and Domiter robots.
