My LGS has a League running from now through October. The current points level is 750 and LoW cannot exceed 33% of you points (so no WK in 750 thank goodness)
However that leaves me in a pickle. My go-to anti-tank is a WK and a Crimson Hunter. So what can I field?
The core of my List will be a Farseer Skyrunner and 3 units of Scatter bikes.
The units I have available are:
1 unit of Fire Dragons (unfortunately too short ranged requires a transport)
1 unit of D-Scythe WraithGuard (as above, plus too expensive in such a small game)
2 units of Swooping Hawks (who can only use 1 grenade per phase now)
1 Fire Prism/ Falcon
1 Avatar
So far the best option I own seems to be Dragons in a Falcon, which would leave points for say a VSG.
Thoughts?

FD in a falcon is a pretty decent choice. Especially if you put a brightlance on the tank. 3 shots are long range, even before kicking the dragons out. And once they hit the table anything that looks like armor should evaporate.
The Prism is overall more flexible then a Falcon, but for pure AV tank, not quite as good. Singe shot AV is just not what it was.
The WG in a WS is going to be tougher then the FD/Falcon combo, but as you say, much more pricy.
Hawks got hit hard by the grenade nerf. Still should be OK vs. light troops, but I’d not take them for AV.
Melee is not a decent answer for AV. As cool as the Avatar is, you list is not set up to take advantage of his strengths.

I don't want the best army, just one that isn't an exercise in picking up my models by turn 3.

He’s got his buff bubble that turns everyone near him into a frothing combat monster. At the very lest you want a few units that can take advantage of that. Aspect host with some of the CC guys, maybe the guardian stormhost if you want to go all in.
But foot based, not bikes.
Full disclosure: My avatar hasn’t seen the table since 3rd edition, just I’m just shooting hypothetical here.

Not to jack the post here, but maybe like the scorpions or banshees? Or Wraithblades? or all three?

Pros and cons to all of them. Depends a lot on your list structure. But yes, those types of guys.
Fearless, +1S and +1A on the charge goes a long way to making even “meh” units like banshees a lot better.
Footdar is not going to be the most competitive way to run Eldar, but even the wacky fun eldar lists are still decent on the table.

I used my Avatar in the last codex to great effect without any of those units. Since everything is so fast in my list, the Avatar was like an anvil to their hammer. The only 2 reasons I stopped plying him was because I needed the LoW slot for a WK and the Avatar lost his double shot melta ability.
But yes, the conventional wisdom to make the most out of him is to have CC units nearby that he could boost.
-------------------So here is the list I have decided on:
115--Farseer Skyrunner
108--4 Scatter bikes
81---3 Scatter bikes
81---3 Scatter bikes
120--5 Fire Dragons + Exarch
145--Falcon w/ Bright Lance & Holofields
100--Void Shield Generator w/ 3 shields
--------------750 on the dot
At such a small point level, it should be very hard for opponents to get through all the shields, buying me time to not need the Dragons until later. If my opponent gets close, the Dragons come out. The Farsser will be using Prescience and Guide on the Falcon & the 4x Scatterbikes

I'm painfully aware of the costs of footdar lol. I have been losing every week for the past year playing it against people who bring nothing but competitive stuff(with a few rare exceptions).
On topic: I like the Dragons chilling in the falcon on the void shield. Is that going to be enough anti-tank though? A few rhinos could ruin your day.

Sactbikes should deal with anything light (like rhinos) The Falcon/ FDs are for the hard stuff.

How would this list do against long range blast weapons?

It would do fine.
The VSG helps a lot there. He can hide in the void shields, and let them take the fire. Even outside that, the bikes can jink away any hits that are going to cut through their armor. Very few things are AP3 and ignore cover.

I can't pick a hole in your list Galef, except the hard counters. Of course, see above for my W/L ratio.
Good Luck!

So I've been playing around with ideas and changed the list to: ----------------- 115--Farseer Skyrunner 108--4 Scatter bikes 81---3 Scatter bikes 81---3 Scatter bikes 145--Falcon w/ Bright Lance & Holofields 55---D-cannon support platform 55---D-cannon support platform 110--Void Shield Generator w/ 3 shields & 1 Barricade --------------750 on the dot So instead of the Dragons that might not even participate in the game, I swapped them for 2 D-cannons and a Barricade to hide them behind. This should provide decent shenanigans by at least turn 2 (of turn 1 if my opponent goes first and come closer) The big questions is: 2 units of 1, or 1 unit of 2? At such a small points game (and hidden by the VSG), having single platforms doesn't seem that risky and allows me to target multiple units. Thoughts? --
