Do Orks have souls?

I would say that they all do, yes. Even the Tau do if you ask me (but the presence of the Tau in the Warp is minimal at best, even when they die).

I think it's fair to say that as a general rule: If it can interact psykically with the Warp, then it has a soul..

Weird boys can lose their souls to the warp like all psychers. So orks must have them

Nids have souls. The only difference is that a nid soul can be summed up in one word:

Nom.

Here is the purest expression of a Tyranid Soul:

Back on the Original Topic: With the exception of the Tyranids, everyone has a soul. There might be another very minor Xenos breed that falls into the same category as Nids, but just so we're not here until the world ends, I think it is safe to say Nids are the only one. I forgot about Nids in my first post on this topic because I hate their fluff so much and as such tend to exclude them from things.

@OP: Why did you think that Orks may not have a soul?

Haven't necrons lost the majority of their souls?
and what about those soulless anti psyker castes

Necrons are a bit iffy for me because at one point they did have them. Your average Tyranid never did.

And "soulless anti psyker castes"?

I could be mistaken but they don't have a warp presence because they don't have a soul right ?

I had completely forgotten about Blanks.

And yes, you are correct about Necrons having no Warp Presence because they have no souls, but I still put them in a grey area because they one (albeit ~60,000,000 years before the current setting) they once had souls. I know it may be a little bit of a stretch for me to do that, but it's not unreasonable or unfounded.

On the nids what about ol one eye who gets regenerated all the time? Could that not be a soul being reincarnated?

No, that's simple regeneration.

they dont have a prescence in the warp, that doesnt mean they dont have a soul. but by the same token, having a presence in the warp doesnt have to mean you have a soul does it?

Does anything have a soul? Orks are fungus genentically engineered by the Old Ones... seems like prime candidate for "no soul"

Blanks go beyond simply not having a presence in the warp, they nullify it. If souls could be quantified with numbers their souls would be in the negatives.

So your suggestion is that the "level" of your soul is based on the amount (?) of presence you have in the warp?

I dont see why a presence in the warp, a lack of a presence or a negative presence should by default have any reference to a things soul or lack of it.

There seems to be a relation between warp presence and souls. For example souls of psykers have been described as bright presences on the warp.

I remember an old Ork book I saw had some stuff about this, and how they don't fear chaos because they join Gork and Mork in the warp when they die.

Its Lex so hmmm but anyway it mentions no soul means they are not effected by psychic powers not that they have no presence in the warp.

TO be honest I recall "something" about solitaire souls but most certainly NOT that they have NO soul, that they have no soul stone and that they represent Slaanesh and so when they die their soul would need to be tricked back by the laughing god or get eaten by slaanesh, not that they dont have a soul. I mean if they have no soul then what would they care about slaanesh after dying as they have no soul for him to get hold of? something has gone wrong in that writing

Between

Tyranids do have a soul.

Just the one soul. Shared between all of them.

That's what the Hive Mind/Shadow in the Warp is.

I guess it could be classified as a soul, although it is so alien that it would be a pointless designation.

jsut to make it clear that there is definately conflicting opnion on this, in the Culexus section on Lex it talks about them "appearing" soulless.

Wrong way around, all nids have souls, that form the hivemind, souls can create warp entities, warp entities cannot create souls.

Individually the Tyranids don't have souls, they have no emotion, only instinct and warp entities can't get nourishment from them. And the Hive Mind isn't a proper warp entity, it doesn't feast on emotion and it has a real space component. (the Tyranid race itself).

In older fluff, Genestealers were said to have souls, although they were animalistic compared to humans. They needed them since they operate far away from the influence of the hive mind.
