We are a year in with Age of Sigmar and what do people think of Chaos in this new setting? What things do you like or don't like about Chaos in Age of Sigmar and what would you guess it's future in this setting?

I like that the realms of chaos maps similar to the army book for daemons, everything else...greatly dislike.

I like the fact that they did succeed. Nothing completely new yet though but I'm hoping the Silver Tower and the inevitable return of Slaanesh would finally spice things up a lot more.

At the moment, it feels like, "Alright, let's conquer this again."

I vastly preferred them as the "enemy within" and the insidious threat, with khorne being the norsii wargod, now they are just run of the mill monsters, but I am hoping something interesting comes out of it. Slaanesh is my dawg!

I like that they feel more beatable now and like they're on the back foot. There's no clear inevitable winner in this setting, and I like that, makes all the races feel more alive.

Still not big on Skaven being part of Chaos. I'd prefer them in Destruction.

Future is rather telegraphed I guess, Tzeentch next and then probably Slaanesh. Rotbringers still need a battle tome so not having one yet, I'm wondering if they're in for more love. Would like to see a whole new faction come up, as always. I guess Everchosen already did, but that was pretty light.

While I liked the darker aspect of the Fantasy setting, I also like that in AoS the victor isn't set. In WHFB it was long written on the walls that Chaos would be victorious in the end, in AoS we don't know.

Road to Renown! It's like classic Path to Glory, but repaired, remastered, expanded! https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/778170.page

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

That is another thing to think about too. That the Skaven are a part of Chaos now and Archaon has a lot more power now.

I like chaos being part of chaos, I think it makes for some fun fluff interactions to have the uber-badass guys trying to keep packs of dastardly rats in control (and often failing, lol).

I also think the Darkoath Barbarian is a great addition to the Chaos range and could be something really exciting if he is given a unique faction to lead.

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

'Murica! (again)

I'm loving it after reading Call of Archaon. I want to see more of the guy who hates Khorne But the releases (Silver Tower recently) help flesh out the individual gods. And this summer, whatever campaign returns Slaanesh into the storyline will be interesting and something we haven't seen before. Just don't know who is writing the books...

Also, I echo the above content that Chaos actually did win

I think the rumours are pointing towards Slaneesh leaving the Chaos pantheon and becoming the God of the "Shadowkin". It's what the story seems to suggest too.

What that will mean to the Chaos Slaneesh line, who knows. They could find themselves fighting for Order in a weird turnaround of events lol or they could all be sentenced to Last Chance To Buy.

Slaanesh followers are stated to be in the process in looking for slaanesh or the greater daemons trying to become Ur-Slaanesh and Archaon has a circle of varanguard looking for eeer it. The shadowkin already essentially have a god already its their god that put slaanesh in this situation, slaanesh is still considered to be a part of the pantheon and she/he is just missing at the moment.

Slaanesh didn't "leave" the Pantheon or anything.

Tyrion and Malerion captured him after following a kind of 'trail' of Aelf souls and finding Slaanesh, for all intents and purposes, sleeping off a bender.
Malerion is the "God" of the Shadowkin from everything seen thus far.

I like to see Chaos is wonderfully suited to AoS' high fantasy setting. I feel like AoS' universe was made for Chaos - it's like a trip in the Chaos Realms, actually.

I would like to see more extensions than the 4 gods - also, more variations than the usual "grrr I worship Chaos, I'm a mindless evil minion who throws his life away to kill stuff". We begin to see Chaos followers going along with "good" people, even if it is for their own egoist reasons (see the barbarian in Warhammer Quest). I would love to see others gods or concepts than the main 4.

What I don't like is the "unlimited ressources" part in the stories where Chaos is the main villain. God even their mortal armies seem endless, as if it wasn't enough with demons never able to die. But that's also the same for others armies (Stormcast, mainly, but the Seraphons are quite good in this kind of nonsense). I know Chaos has invaded a huge part of the Mortal Realms and that they certainly have gained a lot of followers since the beginning, but sometimes I think I'm reading 40k when I look at the stories about AoS battles. The armies are so vast and stupidly numerous than even an Exterminatus isn't enough to kill them all. More come in the next wave for a new twist in the battle.

The Slaanesh situation is very intersting to see what comes out of it.

Skaven in Chaos realm is misplaced. Its a splitting into too many subfactions.

On a surly Warboar, leading the Waaagh!

I miss the characters from WHFB. It added to the story and richness of the armies/game. I've read every BL WHFB book...seriously...and enjoyed the series and one-offs that focused on named characters the most.
Ditto on being kind of "meh" with the Skaven being part of Chaos and not Destruction...but will their "allegiance" last? I think that's a planned spin on the AoS story down the road. Remember, you might have heard it here first. Probably not, but maybe.
As for the game, I started out with an almost vitriolic hatred for what happened to WHFB, then I calmed down and cool AoS minis soothed the rage. I tried the game and became a reluctant fan. With the 'General's Handbook' coming out...next month, I think...I have a feeling I'm going to be all in.

I am finding the rules more tolerable ( I still think they were very poorly written) and the games are fast enough,...the fluff, I cant see ever getting on board with it, I just despise the whole notion of what they did, and the art for the most part is abysmal, though there are some good pieces in some of the books.
