My current army is included in the spoiler tag:

Spoiler:

Note: I do not usually play WYSIWYG so I have not included any upgrades. I would not play my army "naked" like this, neither would I play it as two big detachments. I would use formations, ect.

I am having trouble with my friend's Adeptus Mechanicus, which usually comes with a cohort cybernetica, which I can't kill, and a Culexus Assasin to disable any Seer Councils or similar I field. He also takes Cotez (and some luck) so I have never gotten first turn against him. (although the one time I've played him with my full army he seized on me and killed my Wraithknight first turn with his heavy grav-cannon equipped destroyers.) This squad also has Cotez in it so I can't deapstrike next to him with say, a retribution cadre. His weakness seems to be hordes that are fast enough to evade his electro-priests (that can deepstrike via gate of infinity btw), but neither Eldar nor Tau are very good at hordes. This problem with high durability armies has made me consider buying Wraithgaurd (probably with an allied Anchron), but they would get slaughtered by the "I've been expecting you" special rule if they deepstrike close enough to hurt him and they would be slaughtered anyway if they don't. As you can tell, I'm having major problems with beating him, and any help would be appreciated. I usually play at ~1000 points but we occasionally play apocalypse with most of our armies, btw. Thanks in advance!

p.s. If beating him / making my army better requires new models I'm open to suggestions.

Good luck with replies. Your question basically boils down to "hey I have to play the all state high school football champs, and all I have player wise is the 2016 NFL all stars line up. What can I do? "

warhammer 40k mmo. If I can drive an ork trukk into the back of a space marine dread and explode in a fireball of epic, I can die happy!

Mate, I hope you understand that you are playing with too of the most broken armies in the game. Tau and Eldar are both hated right now because of how they can be played.

Admech isnt that hard to counter with your stuff bro.

TOO MUCH CHAOS!!!

Use the current FAQ found on the warhammer 40k Facebook page. The cullexus is going to have to hoof it or steall a ride mid game, so has almost no chance to catch up with a seercouncil.

Focus fire on the cohort until a robot is completely dead so he can't heal them. Use plasma suits and ion riptides. Get things with interceptor next to your wraithknight to threaten guys coming in from drop pods. Or just reserve the wraithknight.

Tau can bubble wrap things with kroot. Not the best horde, but they do have infiltrate.

What type of missions are you playing?

I'm sorry but is he putting coteaz in with the cohort cybernetica. If he is, he can't, the big robots are monstrous creatures so you can't attach IC's in with them (the tech priest is an exception as the formation puts him there). Problem solved.

No, he is putting Cotez in the grav destroyer unit. As everything I want to deepstrike other than Hawks has a 2+ or 3+ armor save, these tend to murder anything that deepstrikes in range.

I have not seen the FAQ yet, I'll have a look.

The cohort will not die from experience if I shoot my whole army at it. If I do this it means he will get his infiltrators in CC with my squishy tau, which will lead to him killing my tau and, sometimes more importantly, disabling their shooting. Kroot tend to be a prime target for his Vanguard of electro priests.

We are playing "who can kill more in the time we have" missions.

My friend is That Guy in our club btw. To my knowledge he has been beaten twice: once playing against twice his points cost. (he lost by objectives and would have tabled the enemy if the game had not ended) and once in a 7 way free for all when all of us ganged up on him and killed him. (100 points each). He also takes the Obsidian Knight, which usually doesn't cause trouble.

He is usually about 2000 points above me in free upgrades due to the war cohort, btw.

To me it seems like what you are saying, except the state high school football champs have been taking steroids, have twice as many players and have put clingfilm over their goal!

P.S. The friend and some others in the club have said this is a fairly good assessment so long as we are playing soccer. (Forgot the NFL was American, I don't play much attention to English sports nevermind foreign ones )

I presume that there is no reliable way to do it given the responses?

Ok, what is your complete list, because I see reference to Kroot in one of your posts, and that's probably part of your problem right there.

I suspect you may have a combination of a bad list, and be using it poorly. Pure Eldar should wipe the floor with him. Let's see your actual list and you might get some better advice.

I presume you mean one with all the upgrades and formations? I'll put one together (and I'll ask him to send me one of his), but it will take a day or so. I have got all my models in the spoiler (I can take it out of the spoiler if you want, but I didn't want everyone to see a wall of text) and part of the reason I posted this thread is to get help making a good list and/or buying the models to help me make one. I tend to do very well against everyone else in the club, so I suspect the reason is that I don't have a good list against high durability armies. (I tend to borrow Doomweavers against Necrons, but that is the only other high durability army in the club other than a space wolf player who doesn't want to play me after he got unlucky and 6 scatter laser jet bikes killed his wolfstar in one turn ) I do have ~20 kroot but I very rarely field them outside of bubble-wrap in apocalypse.

EDIT: I don't think "bumble-wrap" is a thing, despite what Autocorrect thinks.
