Hey Guys,

I think I am going to get one of the two Sicaran variants for my next purchase (fething love the look of that tank).
My current models are as follows:
1x B@C Praetor
1x B@C Chaplain
1x 10 man Vets with Plasma Guns
1x 10 man headhunters
1x 10 man lernaean terminators with fists
1x Dual Assault Cannon Mortis Contemptor
1x Dual Fist Contemptor

Obviously I need to get a bulk of marines, but for now I am looking for a bit of anti armour fire power. While I realise the venator is probably better for this - it is a bit of a one trick pony. So I am leaning towards a regular Sicaran with Las Sponsons, keep in mind my regular opponent loves to run a Spartan in our 1500pt games. Which would you think is better suited for me given the models I have.

if you want anti tank, a sicaran might not be the best option to default to (though the venator hits harder and forces snap shots iirc)

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.

Personally speaking, if you want something cheap and cheerful to drop armour have you looked at the laser vindicator?
Unless you have your heart set on the sicaran, its a pretty solid tank.

Overcharging and being stationary gives you 3 shots aswell.

Standard sicaran is great for multi purose and.decent/good vs tanks. The tank hunter is great vs tanks obviously, can get flank shots on the ever present flare shielded spartan and is magic vs super heavys! Snap shot shuts most of them down even if no kill

Hey guys, thanks for the input!
I have considered the laser destroyer - I even tested it in a game using my 40k vindicator model, but hadn't read the FAQ at that point so didnt realise it was possible to give it 3 shots!. It is also another one I am tempted by, but is it not only ST9, so STr8 against a flare shielded spartan which is only enough to glance it?

flare shield is only in the front arc, and if your worried about those, take a few graviton rapiers, gaviton guns (in general) or any other source of haywire

Flare shields are a pain.
But have a threat on either flank and it can only face 1 of them, leaving a side exposed.

My answer as a mechanicum player is generally a lightning strike fighter, as S8 armourbane missiles to the side or rear stop it dead.
Marines have access to them and they are a higher cost, but it's my normal "go to" choice for removing heavy armour.

Yeah I will probably look into the flyer options further down the track - I guess I am just really sold on the Sicaran model atm

Yeah really depends on what you need compared to your meta. I don't worry much about flare shields in my meta, but knights and drop pods are a normal thing for me. So I bring a standard sicarian with ceramite and load my list with mortis contemptors and augury scanners where I can.

You already have the mortis so your AA is decently covered. You have little AT in your list so I think the Venator would be a better choice. But do your opponents regularly use heavy armor? If not then the standard model with lascannon sponsons might be a better choice. The model looks badass either way so its a win in that respect over the laser destroyer.

If you dont short hand your list, Im not reading it.
Example: Assault Intercessors- x5 -Thunder hammer and plasma pistol on sgt.
or Assault Terminators 3xTH/SS, 2xLCs
For the love of God, GW, get rid of reroll mechanics. ALL OF THEM!

I'm thinking I'll go the regular sicaran and then a laser destroyer vindicator later on based on the feedback here
