Hey guys, first post in this part of the forum so let me know if I get anything wrong.

What is everyone's thoughts on the new Witcher 3 expansion? Good? Bad? Personal experiences? I thought it was awesome one of the trailers came full circle, and I love the knights of toussaint.

I liked it a lot and its easily my favourite expansion made surpassing Citadel for ME3. The main plot is not as good as Hearts of Stone, but it's a Witcher game so of course its miles ahead of anything. I found it has stronger side content and stories than Hearts of Stone and even some main game stuff.

I don't want to spoil anything but it has one really interesting character in it and obviously tons to do. I only had one glitch at the very end of the game in a post main quest quest which wouldn't trigger. So I'm waiting for the patch.

Other than that I can give it a 9.5/10. Witcher 3 I gave a 10/10 for me and Hearts of Stone I gave a 9/10.

Yes, it is an amazing DLC. (Although to be expected from cdpr at this point ) Yeah, I feel the beast reveal was a little early and anti climactic for my taste. But as you said, the side content is abundant. Upgrading your estate, getting the mastercrafted witcher gear, the list goes on. I haven't finished it yet but have just started the "where children toil" quest. I've been trying to do as much of the side quests before the main one as I can before I level too much/ forget about them!

I've been taking it slow. Exploring a lot of the side content, haven't delved to far into the main thrust of the story yet. I'm liking it though. The color is such a nice contrast from Velen.

It is a welcome change, though. You get used to the drab and dreary swampy lands after so long of playing, at least skellige mixes it up a bit, but B+W has really great environments and people. You can definitely see the class difference between an average Novigrad citizen and a Toussaint citizen.

Yeah the exchange rate is crazy in the country. They be so rich compared to your typical citizen. This might be why they are so happy.

Also yeah the environments are some of the most beautiful and some people found the fisher king from Witcher 1 roaming the coasts. He is the one who protects the Lady from you in Witcher 1.

It's got a great story but the mechanics are a little more classic rpg style. Also the voice acting of a lot of side characters isn't up to par with Witcher 2-3. However you can see all the elements that make the series so great and fondly remembered and its like peering back into their design process. I still like it a lot to this day.

Its a welcomed expansion, honestly anything that allowed me to escape the dreariness of th North after the somewhat messy war.

Yeah, The Witcher 1 is a very old school PC RPG in its design . In fact, it was the Zero Punctuation review of it that created the PC Master Race meme.

I advanced a good chunk of the story yesterday, has me wondering where this is going.

I'm getting the feeling of who the villain is, but it seems a bit to obvious.

May I ask what mission you are on? Unless the title is really revealing, I just started the one after where children toil. Forgot the name. I'm not really impressed by the villain so far though. I love the duchess' character though, reminds me of Yenneffer a bit.

Yeah, I saw that . The only thing keeping me away from it is how badly it's aged on the outside. (textures, models)

It's breathtaking. The whole land is just amazing, and I'm loving the story. I'm also taking it slow and sticking to my level (Level 45 now), and I'm having a blast playing it.

Haven't got to play it yet as I just started a new game, but I'm wondering something; should I play through Hearts of Stone first or does it even matter? I'm just not sure exactly what level I should be when I start the DLC, and I'd rather not do a NG+ if I don't have to...

Regardless, I'm pretty stoked, it looks amazing from what little I've seen.

Hearts of Stone seems to have no impact on this, story line wise.

It is recommended to do Hearts of Stone first because without it you may be a little low level, and then too high level for Hearts of Stone when you're done B+W. And the first quest recommended level is 34, however many enemies will out-level you at that point.

Unfortunately the main quest just throws 3000 XP at you every major quest, so I'm level 49 now. Which is unfortunate because now I out-level most things which takes the fun out of it sometimes.

Turn on level scaling in the options.

That's adversary scaling, not level scaling, so even though the enemies are bumped to your level the xp rewards will still be tiny.

Thanks Gamgee, I'll try that Also, has anyone else seen those hooded women walking around town at night? They look awfully suspicious, and that's being generous. Not to mention the alps and bruxae you can find in the world that look exactly the same, and the trailer. How many vampires is there in Touissaint? It seems significantly higher than the North. I actually initiated combat with one of them near a "guarded treasure" mark. She was standing over a dead mans body, and apparently from the note near his body, he didn't like who she was cheating on him with... So all directions pointing at her I did the thing where Geralt puts his fist up in their face, and she turns into mist. It's very organic encounters like that that are amazing. I suspect if I didn't threaten her she'd just stand there. I actually walked away just to test it and she didn't attack me, so that could have gone 2 entirely different ways.

Its wonderfull to once again roam around, and stumbeling upon some beastial foe or some strange bits of information. Granted I just started playing but so far it looks like a damned good time lies ahead of me, but already I am pleased to not having to deal with Jennifer, Triss or any of the other clowns.
That and the knowledge that the Nilfgardian Empire is bloodied and Worse for wear makes this new Adventure all the more pleasing

I had a marathon of it, and man, this DLC is amazing. No spoilers, but some truly amazing stuff happens, and I'm honestly really sad this is the last we'll see of Geralt.

At least we'll all be able to play Gwent for life since they are making a f2p gwent game. Yresh! My Northern Kingdoms will crush people and skellige can come too.

Haha! Yes, my northern realms is probably the best too. Tied with my Nilfgaard probably though.

I ended up skipping out on the new skellige deck and the tournament quest because I just didn't feel like playing 24 gwent games in a row. Wish they gave you a starter deck from the get go, because the vanilla gwent tournies are some of the more funner quests

However, regarding the Gwent game, I'm wondering how they're going to handle the cards and matchmaking with other players. Wouldn't be fair for a starter deck to go up agaisnt a half heroes deck, that's for sure.

Ooo the Gwent game will have singleplayer and fights in the story are Gwent. Reminds me of that mod that makes every fight in Witcher a game of Gwent lol. I was tempted to install it.

Ah, good. A common tactic was to decoy your opponents, or medic a discarded one. You could get a bunch of cards.

Knowing the plot twists in this game, probably But there does seem to be an abundance of them. Came across a diary saying a guy had dined with a buddy but he refused to use silverware, and didn't eat the garlic sauce then lured him to a cave, and suprise. Vampires!

Gamgee wrote:Ooo the Gwent game will have singleplayer and fights in the story are Gwent. Reminds me of that mod that makes every fight in Witcher a game of Gwent lol. I was tempted to install it.

Okay, so you collect cards via singleplayer? And unfortunately my PC isn't good enough for W3, so I have to use my xbox. However, that mod sounds fun, I imagine it just detects which enemy you're fighting and makes their faction accordingly? Bandits=Northern Realms?

No there is multiplayer and singleplayer. We have no idea hwo to collect cards except that it is f2p and that likely means we earn boosters through play and can buy them.

This is just me speculating since its what most f2p card games do.
