Not knowing what your strategy is, and just based on the list, I'd say it's just ok. If you run into Aces, Crackswarm, or Triple Jumpmasters you're going to have a bad day.

You've got a lot of points sunk into Chiraneau, but no Engine Upgrade, which helps A LOT with not only some arc dodging, but with closing range so you can attack at range 1-2 for his ability.

Wampa + Palp, check. Understood on the synergy there.

Maarek Stele in this case appears to be the poor man's Vader. He's going to be burned down pretty easily without PTL and an Engine Upgrade. Vader's strength is being able to TL + Focus (ATTACK), or if needed, Evade and Focus (TURTLE).

If I had a suggestion, It would be to figure out what to do with Chiraneau. Is he going to be a ace-killer with Vader on board? Or is he going to be a Palp-chariot? Having both on there plays against each other since you WILL want to Vader.

I'd suggest (and this is keeping your ship choices intact):
Rear Admiral Chiraneau
- Veteran Instincts
- Engine Upgrade
- Darth Vader

Wampa

Maarek Stele
- Push the Limit
- Tie x1
- Advanced Targeting Computer

99 points

Granted, Wampa without Palp is just another Tie fighter, but he does provide a psychological issue for your opponents.
Maarek gets his double action (if you want to push the list to 100, add Mk2 Engines to gain 4x more green maneuvers to help shed stress
Chiraneau in this case is a fast moving Ace-killer with Vader on board. He will die. Make sure he gets shots off, and Vaders accordingly.

Just my 2 cents. I'm sure others here will agree/disagree and give their own recommendations.

If you're going to use Vader it's probably better to put him on a generic it's non existent defence with vader eating hit points will see a decimator dead quick.

If you want the decimator to hang around I'd take chirpy with engine upgrade, isard and rebel captive or moff jerjerudd, use actions to arc dodge and his ability as a protofocus.

Surely the Decimator should always be cooking on Expose, unless it's set up purely defensively.

Speaking of noob Decimator lists, I created this for a friend, I have no idea if it'll pass muster or not. The key is to keep the deci at range 3.
Commander Kenkirk (44)
Predator (3)
Extra Munitions (2)
Rebel Captive (3)
Agent Kallus (2)
Ysanne Isard (4)
Seismic Charges (2)
Engine Upgrade (4)

Soontir Fel (27)
Push the Limit (3)
Targeting Computer (2)
Autothrusters (2)
Royal Guard TIE (0)

Total: 98

Ditch expose unless you have RAC. Without any dice modification you might as well just take predator for your EPT and focus every turn. Expose only works when you have RAC's ability to act as a "focus" and make that extra attack die better than just taking a normal focus/TL.

Thats very interesting. I knew Palp in a Deci would be competive. Intelligence agent, rebel captive plus Oicunn is a fun lil combo. Love it even more with palp. Im glad that worked cuz i had my doubts with Palp and Oicunn. Must have been an Ace heavy meta. The prob i had was there are no defense dice except at range 3 so palp can really only be used offensivley for the deci. It was the same prob i was running into last night when i was making lists. Hes such an expensive card so you want to be able to use his ability at optimum effeciency. So i felt kenkirk, ysann, Palp would be the most efficient deci build. He had to have been very aggressive with the deci, which is risky cuz its more than half his list.

Your post makes it seem like you think Palp can only be used for the Ship to which he is assigned. Not true. He can be used for any friendly dice result, once per turn.
Palp is highly useful for prolonging the survivability of your wingman ship(s). In this case, the Phantom.
Oicunn doesn't really need Palp offensively, since that's what Predator is for.

And in cases where you aren't getting shot at, you can palp that attack dice to your heart's content.

I'd also stop worrying about the Deci's lack of defense dice and thus building it to gain them. You know what Decis you see in tournament lists? RAC and Oicunn. Not Kenkirk.
The sooner you accept the Deci will die, the more efficiently you can put it to work before it does bite the big one.
Hopefully by then you've crippled your opponent's list enough that your Ace wingman can mop up.

Thanks. I know palp can affect other friendly ships. I just want something ive sunk 60+ points into to survive longer.

I Think I'm the one who proposed Kenkirk first. And it's not because something hasn't been used so far might not mean it's worthless either.

Understood, but killing a decimator takes a fair bit of concentrated fire, and if he's focusing on the decimator, he's not focusing on Whisper. Accept it's going down, and - if he's shooting at the rebel captive decimator - take the opportunity to shiv his best ace whilst they're stressed.

Oicunn is a nice trick, because the classic response to an engine upgrade decimator is to block the thing....which is a bad move here.

The problem with building a super-tough decimator - which is quite possible - is that ultimately you end up with a single 3-dice attack. Yes, it's a turret. But I could have got a three-dice attack for twenty-odd points from any number of medium fighters. Trying to be just a tank is what made the TIE advanced really sub-par for a long time; especially since you can't force an opponent to shoot at you (unless you're Biggs).

The problem with trying to make a Decimator into a tank is that you just can't do it. Even if you go full defense the best you can get is one green die, one evade token, and one automatic evade on a die roll. Pretty much anything that shoots at you is still going to damage you. So you can keep the Decimator alive in one of three ways: stay out of arc (RAC + engine is good at this), make them want to avoid your Decimator (Oicunn, rebel captive, etc), or just kill their ships and take their guns off the table.

Also, in the case of Decimator + ace, you need to remember that the Decimator is there to support your ace. If your opponent is shooting at the 16 HP brick instead of dealing with Fel/Whisper/etc then you're at a huge advantage. Losing the Decimator is just the cost of victory, as long as it dies letting your ace win.

I've been fiddling with Oicunn, this is the latest build I've been thinking about playing (previously, I've been using Turr in an interceptor)

Decimator - Oicunn
+ Expose
+ Ion Bombs
+ Ysanne
+ Rebel Captive
+ Saboteur
+ Dauntless title
+ Anti-pursuit lasers

Wampa
+ Stealth Device

Scourge
+ Squad Leader
+ Stealth Device

Oicunn becomes a "no-fly zone", ramming ships or forcing ships to ram into him. Wampa puts hits on enemy ships that Saboteur turns into criticals. Scourge picks on targets wounded by Wampa and flies close to Oicunn, allowing the Decimator to use both expose and target lock/focus.

It never ends well

It's not the worst starting point ever, but it needs some work.

Oicunn has too much marginal stuff. Expose is ok on RAC, but on Oicunn you're depending on close formation flying with a 3 HP TIE fighter to have it be better than just taking a focus or target lock. The ion bombs and saboteur are just dead weight, you'll rarely get to use them. And Ysanne is not bad, but probably a luxury you can't afford with the rest of your list being so weak.

Wampa is bad. Without any way to generate crit results you just aren't going to get that damage card through consistently enough. And the stealth device is a luxury, but it's not a bad idea on a priority target if you can fix the rest of the list.

Scourge is just a waste. Using squad leader means his own damage is going to suck, and the stealth device isn't doing much. You can buy much better stuff for the same point cost.

Here is an alternative list that keeps the same general idea of a ramming Decimator:

Oicunn
+ Daredevil
+ Palpatine
+ Dauntless
+ Engine Upgrade

Wampa

Omega Leader
+ Comm Relay
+ Juke

Oicunn can now ram twice in one turn, and Wampa can now get an automatic crit result from Palpatine every turn. That's a whole lot of unavoidable damage, and then Omega Leader is just the most broken 26 points you can bring.

Cunning. My glance at the card made me think it was just a special boost.

I was fiddling with a stupid list of Ociunn with expose, a bare bones firespray and a TIE shuttle with systems officer and fleet officer. The pilot skills were all out of whack though so probably not terribly effective. If you drop the Fires pray down to a high level tie/ln or interceptor then you can kit out ociunn a bit more effectively and bring all 3 ships up to ps4. Will have to try it out someday

Because Daredevil is 'a manoeuvre' you're allowed to collide with someone when you do it.

Note that triggering it with Dauntless will leave you double stressed, so buyer beware. Still, I'd trade two stress on the brick for two damage on soontir fel, for example.

As noted, Expose only really works if you have multiple actions, automatic dice modifiers, gunner or other things stacked. It's not a great plan for a ship which is going to (deliberately) ram and lose actions, as well. If you really want to turn Oicunn into a bowling ball, either Daredevil (as Peregrine suggested), Intimidation, or Mara Jade. Intimidation is okay against lower PS ships if you ram them, or higher PS if you can block them, whilst Mara Jade is nice if you want to play Bowling Ball against someone's tightly-packed squad.

At the same time, I wouldn't throw in a support ship. Oicunn is - despite appearances - essentially a support ship - designed to smack open formations so the guys behind can pick on scattered targets. He won't actually do that much raw damage. Having either an ace or two or a small pack of TIE fighters following him in is generally a good plan.

I played my Oicunn list a couple nights ago against a 5 A-wing list (Green Squad + refit + test pilot + autothrusters + crack shot + adaptability). Though I lost Wampa in the fight (and Scourge was down to 1 hull), Oicunn rammed three of the A-wings to death (well, two with one bumping into the pursuit lasers to finish itself off) after softening them up with ion bombs and the other two died to console fires started by the saboteur. It was glorious - but I think in future battles I'll probably use something other than Expose - I think I ended up using that twice to little effect (4 freakin' focus on one throw) and may try the Daredevil next time.

It never ends well
