I wanted to get some feedback on my Stormcast Eternal Liberator. I had to use exactly this miniature due to having been painted in a contest. Made 2nd place with it.
Comments, critique and votes welcome.

That's superb, so the critique is from a competitive standpoint:

The blends on the turquoise on the shield in particular are a little uneven. The sides of the base are also a bit scrappy - milliput and sanding it down would help blend the sheet work onto the base itself.

The model as a whole is perhaps (and this a style thing) a little too clean, and could possibly have done with some cool/warm contrast across the NMM on figure a bit to give it some life - maybe by reflecting some of the purple on the down-facing parts of the model lower down, and otherwise just pushing the contrast in general a little bit more at the bright end.

But this is nitpicking for the sake of it - that's a really, really good paintjob.

This one was rated first - quite some people actually disagreed with the decision, but that's life:

You got robbed on that 1st place spot. Fantastic work!!! I disagree (respectfully) with winterdyne. NMM is great for this style and why not go clean and sharp!! I love the bru-shed gold look you've got going on here.

Really well painted! Which colours have you used for the gold NMM?

Whoa, really nice Well done! I love it.

You were definitely robbed of the 1st place spot, IMHO. That's some fantastic blending. Very convincing!!

Yours is far better than the 1st place spot. The only reason I could possibly see for him taking 1st instead of you is his conversion being worked in. But your paint job blows his out of the water.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I really like your style on the two minis you entered into the contest. I am a big fan of extreme highlights and bright colors for models and these really exemplify what I like. The model is extremely clean, all details really stand out and the colors used are fantastic.

Thank you for sharing. Great work.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

I would have given you first, but hey - the other guy might have got the trophy but you've got two incredible display pieces that can sit at the top of your cabinet and will wow anybody who sees them.

Awesome work!

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

Technically awesome and worthy of the first place.
Though I understand they didnt want to give first place to something as generic as a golden liberator. Its as unimaginative as they come
(however, as your third place was a generic marine, I understand you take a pride in working those basic grunts in to perfection, and I hope you dont take my "unimaginative"comment personal).

I don't take it personal, but as I wrote in my very first comment, I *had* to use exactly these miniatures. It's been the rule for all competitors.

Your miniature again, as with the salamander is truly incredible. I wouldn't even know where to start with NMM like that. Definitely deserved of first place. Regardless of podium finishes - you should be very proud of yourself - you have a really great talent there my friend.

I also have a question - how come the first place winner is allowed a modified miniature? Was that mini just a base model specification?

Oh, sorry. Must have skipped that line
In that case you should totally have been first (and second).

The model was given to each painter at the start of the competition. Conversions were legal. However, since I am not a bits hoarder I wouldn't even be able to swap some parts. And I thought a conversion "only" gives the upper hand when both paintings are of equal quality, since it was a painting competition and not a modelling competition. The winner had been the only conversion entered and I still don't have hard feelings for the winner either. I got two trophies and two more minis for my cabinet. I'm fine with that.

I know everyone's said it, but you got robbed. The blending on your Liberator is glorious, especially on the NMM. The Teal is truly beautiful. Congrats on 3rd though! I'm sure it was well fought.
