Mine delivered today from Korea's one and only flgs. Arrived in a box o.O they take delivery very seriously over here! So far I'm really impressed. Whoever was whining on that it was an AoS issue was so far off the mark. Loadsa great stuff from the 41st. Great issue and a great return to form. Oh fig is pretty damn tasty as well - can be converted into pretty much a ton of other stuff if that's your flavour

Hell, I'm impressed with it and I'm not even interested in AOS, I no longer play 40K (still have my Raven Guard though) and I don't have the board games like Deathwatch or Betrayal at Calth. I'm gonna lend it to my friend, he's getting into painting and will find the paint guides very useful as he uses the GW paint range.

The Slaughterpriest might see use in Zombicide the Black Plague.

Really looking forward to the Hobbit SBG's comeback and rebranding. The new Iron Hill Dwarves look awesome.

Is that AoS slaughterpriest a subscription perk only or is it included with the WD copies in stores as well?

You can never beat your first time. The second generation is shinier, stronger, faster and superior in every regard save one, and it's an unfair criticism to level, but it simply can't be as original. - Andy Chambers, on the evolution of Games Workshop games

Well it looks like many of us are in the same boat... I subscribed last weekend and haven't received my first issue either. My FLGS opens in 59 minutes, look like I'll try to pick up a copy there (two copies wouldn't be bad anyway with the extra content for the specialist games). Due to the holiday on Monday, we won't see our magazines until Tuesday (minimum).

I just hope it doesn't sell out too fast at my flgs. I could care less about the free models (I own most of the AOS models anyway). Now if it was the white dwarf model or a deathwatch master, then I'd have to clean my shorts.

I wish GW would go back to the days of old. When someone pre-ordered something directly from them, they got it the day of or a day before release. I pre-ordered the limited deathwatch codex and received it a week later, a week after everyone else had it in their hands. All this does is make folks buy/pr-order from online heavy discount retailers, as there is no bonus from ordering from gw.

Update on the White Dwarf App: We think we've hunted down the squigs in the system, but sorry to say they're taking a little while to resolve. Please bear with us and we'll be able to bring you news of the App and the new digital White Dwarf going live very soon. And just to prove it's coming, here's a sneak peek for you all

Just picked up a copy from my flgs as my subscription is still in that loop spoken of by gw.

Very happy with this. Content, great pics, some nice articles. It is almost the exact same White dwarf from years ago, but with a few more commercial pages for their products.

Very happy with the new white dwarf angle and glad I subscribed for more!

I got mine on Thursday, I've read most of it now and I have to say I'm very happy. A huge step forward compared to that thin weekly leaflet, but not quite at the level of the good ol' days of Fat Bloke and the original Tale of Four Painters.

The battle report was kind of nice, but I like mine a bit more detailed, and I prefer actual army selection and tactical decisions, not just 'take every model in the Studio army and damn the balance',. But we'll see, this is just the first issue, and it shows great promise IMO.

Maybe we'll see a return of non-Studio players to the bat-rep section, bringing their own armies along. One can hope!

it is such a heavy substantial mag, with a ton of 40K material!!!
i made sure to grab one with a Slaughterpriest that didn't have a broken skull on his shoulder...
that seems to be common, thanks to how tightly they packed the box :(

the Deathwatch design article was cool, and is the first thing i read...
just had a chance to look at the pretty pictures for everything else...
Knight House feature has some cool stuff...
Blanchitsu looks good...

my favorite is the Tau Kill Team conversion article...
they give a nice breakdown of the available bare heads, including the two female heads from the Ghostkeel and Fire Warrior boxes...
the best bit is the dual pulse pistol wielding gunslinger...
awesome conversion!!!

all in all, for ten bucks, with the free mini, this feels like a great way to relaunch the mag...
now i just need to send some pics, and get my minis in the "Reader's Model" section

cheers

Have GW stated anywhere that this is how thick every issue is gonna be?
Or could this be a one-off bumper-launch-issue type of thing? and the regular ones will have less pages?

Has this actually happened yet? I can't find the digital white dwarf issue.

According to Facebook, they are having some issues with digital issues (insert appropriate Xzibit meme here). Blaming squigs for it.

Got my first issue yesterday.

I'm very pleased to see White Dwarf looking more like a hobby magazine than a half hearted sales pamphlet. It's not perfect, and still nowhere near its halcyon mid 90s best. But it's absolutely rammed with articles. You know. Proper articles.

I've barely scratched the surface, but I think the highlight for me so far has been blanchitsu, with models painted and converted by the master himself. Might need to do a tech scavvy inspired kill team now.

Well, too bad then. They could have gotten me with some lotr, especially since they are starting to produce new stuff for their best system now. I guess we'll have to wait until FW puts out its own magazine for 15€ per issue .

One would suggest there will be LOTR/Hobbit coverage but only really once there's any new releases -- for example once the revised/new rulebook is out.

I think a very good indication it that now on the 5th of September I still have not read the entire mag through.

I got mine on the sub so a good few days ago now.

So far I'm really happy with it. Even the adverts look better...

Picked mine up Saturday (GW says Friday but only in their stores, everyone else has to wait a day).

I'm happy with the fig. I own a monstrous Khorne collection. The mag is pretty good. Has some weight to it. Quality is nice.

The issue is still stuffed with space marines so no real change there. All in all, good but not worth subscribing. I'll just pick up issues I find personally relevant.

Quite surprised with the letters section myself. One being quite critical of AoS putting point values back in, the other being from the chaps of that fantasy podcast who worked on the generals compendium.

Anyone notice the little text snafu on pg 9.

I wonder if that's causing the digital delay as it needs to be edited out of the mag...

Check the left hand side of the Rhino pic.

Apologies if already noted...

They also state that the Cassius boxed set contains ten models, leaving out the second Ultramarine character in the lineup, whereas later in the issue the box is listed with eleven models.

I also noticed that here and there a word may be missing from a sentence, though this could just be me?

They would have had to recut the sprues to exclude Donatus. I highly doubt they did. Also, he is dead center in the promo image on the webstore.

There are a few typos here and there, one huge in an early-on feature-text box. Not bad for a mag made whilst making a month of weeklies at the same time, though!
