Subject: Karl Urban confirms DREDD 2... then later unconfirms it. Damn. :(
At Karl Urban’s panel in Denver Comic Con, he was recently asked if he would do a sequel for Dredd – even if it was poorly written and just for money – and the actor revealed some VERY interesting information for the fans. After jokingly saying that he did need a new house, he had this to say:
“Yes. ‘Dredd 2′ is in development.”
That’s right. Apparently, a story is being developed and it’s being determined if it would be a fit for Netflix, Amazon or another network. He also said that there is interest from “established creatives” and that he would do it if he felt it had “depth and substance”.
Dredd may have done poorly when it was first released but it’s gained a cult following and almost everyone I talk to says they would watch another Dredd film or a series. That was my initial goal when I started the Make a Dredd Sequel Facebook page (now Bring Back Dredd). Here’s to hoping it happens!

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

There was talk of the Dark Judges for one movie concept and the awesome "America" for another, something Urban confirmed at a con a few years ago IIRC, while doing a reading of the opening narration of the latter.
