The Unofficial Painting Challenge: Unleash The Beast got me thinking about the real beasts in the WFB/AoS realm. Many of them are based on or derived from mythological creatures: the griffin, chimera, cockatrice, dragon, manticore, hydra, phoenix, wyvern, medusa, minotaur, centaur, pegasus etc.

What mythological or fairytale creature would you like to see in WFB/WoS?
And for what army?

Well, the All-Gates book references "seventeen-headed heptadecagors" and I think GW is the only company that could pull off something so simultaneously stupid and awesome.

Road to Renown! It's like classic Path to Glory, but repaired, remastered, expanded! https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/778170.page

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

A three-headed (flesh) hound doesn't remind you of a three-headed hound

A three headed dog is a three headed dog. Doesn't make me think of Cerberus specifically.

The Eye of Terror

The beasts and monsters of games like Bloodborne and Dark Souls would be really nice inspirations. The Great Ones in particular.

How many three-headed dogs do you know?

Three total. I don't think of three headed dog = specific dog. They're a generic thing. If their behaviour was similar I'd think of a specific comparison.

Chaos dwarves already made a gigantic mechanical one in Dread fleet. Think the Skaven are the only one's who could beat that. (Lightning cannons grafted on each tentacle)

Any monsters are good in my book. They all fall to my knights.

Were they a 'generic thing' in ancient Greece? Or are they a 'generic thing' because everyone based there three-headed dogs on Cerberus?

They're a generic thing because a three headed dog doesn't strike me personally as anything special. I'm sure the Ancient Greeks would disagree.

I guess he means if it was a guardian of some type.

Like if there was a Cerberus like creature who guarded a realmgate that went to the chaos realm.

Yes, I'm familiar with that one. Too dinosaur-ish for my taste. I'd want the one from the pic. Harry Potter's version is just too much like an ordinary dog.
