I've always wanted to play Orks in 40k but because the rules are so god awful and they can never win a game I thought playing them in AoS would be a better idea.

Some questions:

1.) Are they a OK tier faction to play? In 40k Orks get curbstomped every game. I'd want at least a chance of winning some games. It seems like they have zero ranged units.

2.) The "Start Collecting! Greenskinz" box looks great but are these old models? Just repackaged? It seems like they haven't released any new models for the Greenskinz like with the Ironjaws. They have only a few models so very low model diversity.

3.) What is the lore of the Greenskinz and Ironjaws? Are they the same faction in the lore? In the lore do they work together or are part of the same army? I'm a very fluffy player so I want to stick to the lore 100%. Do ironjaws and greenskinz hate each other?

Thank you!

1. I haven't seen any particular faction really blowing anyone away yet so I think that youre safe. greenskins have some range, the regular boys can have bows and the goblins have warmachines like the doom diver, catapult and bolt thrower.

2. unfortunately they are the old models repackaged. so far the only orruks that have been updated arw the ironjawz, who are new and awesome and I'm pretty sure that savage orruks are sticking around because they just rereleased them.

3.ironjawz are just tough orruks. they work together as much as any orruks work together. they would not be an uncommon sight seen working together in an army.

Why do they make a battletomb for just a few models?

They do indeed. The Start Collecting box looks to be a real steal, 10 black orruks, a war chanter, and 3 boar riders (or gruntas or whatever they are called)

because theyre a separate sub faction of greenskinz just like flesh eater courts are a sub faction of undead.

You don't have to worry about ranged units. I remember in a recent thread that Bottle explained that a unit of 30 Arrer boys can pump out 120 shots a turn with the appropriate buffs from heroes.

If you can't believe in yourself, believe in me! Believe in the Dakka who believes in you!

I was more looking at the regular Greenskinz Start Collecting Box plus a ironjaws megaboss to start off my army.

The Ardboys look sort of very 40k? :/ Like meganobs...

Yeah go for the bonesplitterz

dooo iiiiiit

That 120 shots wasn't even with the buffs. The Arrow Boys get 2 shots base and 3 when they go over a certain size (so a unit of 40 for 400 points gets you 80 wounds shooting 120 shots).

Then there is a battalion with 2+ units of Arrow Boys and a Boss. The boss can choose one unit within 10" to attack in the hero phase as if it was another phase (I.e. The shooting phase), the unit can continue as normal later in the turn two, so you would get to fire 120 x 2 shots from 40 boys.

Again, I am just rehashing the Facehammer podcast and don't have the battletome to hand (it's not even out yet). But from the sounds of it it will be killer.

I think Greenskinz are a bit boring personally. I would go for bonespillterz or a Destruction mix.

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

Armies function best off of synergy, so having an Ironjawz Megaboss lead your Greenskinz is allowed and even fluffy, but in game your other Greenskinz won't benefit from his command ability which only targets units with the Ironjawz keyword. An Orruk Warboss (like in the Start Collecting box) has a command ability that targets ANY Orruk including Ironjawz, Bonesplitterz, and normal Greenskinz.

Man, will they release a battletomb then for just regular Greenskinz?

Most likely. Until then I'd recommend a Bonesplitterz/Ironjawz/Greenskinz mix. The Orruk Warboss's command ability will benefit all of them. Just don't use the Megaboss as your general.

Now I am puzzled. Not familiar with all the new names. I thought all Orks, or or Greenskinz, Bonesplitters and what else I have missed are all the same, Orrucks now. They are not all related and the same?

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

They are all orruks just different factions.
Greenskinz are the generic orruks while bone splitters and Ironjawz are just a sub faction of them.

Dorian - I absolutely feel where you're coming from. I already have a bunch of greenskinz but I really liked the ironjawz boss on the maw krusha so I bought one and just use him as a warboss on a wyvern.

On a side note, to answer your earlier question I doubt we'll ever see just a regular greenskinz battletome. I think that it will be all special sub factions.
That's just my opinion though.

Considering that Bonesplittaz arrow boyz hit on a 5+ I think what they meant was 80 hits out of the 240 shots, a mere 40 of which would wound. Still likely OP since the battalion is probably ludicrously undercosted (most of them are).

I meant "80 wounds of models" as the Bonesplitterz all have 2 wounds each. sorry for the confusion!
