I am going up against a player on Friday known for his cheese lists. The match was more or less unavoidable, so I requested to go against his Space Wolf cheese (Wolf Star plus double Wulfen) as opposed to his Tau chees (Hunter Contingent plus OSC). I figured the best way to fight cheese was with cheese, so this is the list I came up with based on the models I have finished:

Chapter Tactics - Ultramarines

Combined Arms Detachment

HQ

Chaplain - 90 pts
Crozius Arcanum and Bolt Pistol (stock loadout)

Troops

Tactical Squadsx2 - 215 pts ea
10 marines, Combi-Plasma, Plasma Gun, Plasma Cannon, Drop Pod

Heavy Support

Devastator Squad- 155 pts
5 marines 2x Missile Launcer, 2x Multi-Melta, Drop Pod

Ravenhawk Assault Group

Stormraven Gunship- 200 pts
TL Lascannon, TL Multimelta

Sternguard Veterans- 170 pts
2x Grav-gun, 3x Combi-grav

Dreadnought - 110 pts
Assault Cannon, Power Fist, Storm Bolter

And now for the cheesy portion of the list:

Librarius Conclave

Librarian - 115 pts (Warlord)
Terminator armor, Force Staff, ML2, Telepathy

Librarian - 90 pts
Force Sword, ML2, Telepathy

Librarian - 65 pts
Force Staff, Technomancy

Oathsworn Detachment

Knight Warden- 425 pts
Avenger Gatling Cannon, Thunderstrike Gauntlet, Heavy Stubber, Heavy Flamer, Stormspear Rocket Pod

I will start with just the Knight and the Conclave on the table with the Conclave hiding behind him, preferably behind terrain if possible. The plan is to ensure the Warden stays invisible for as much of the fight as possible while using Technomancy to keep him repaired. Primaris threat is the Wolfstar, so the Ravenhawk's primary target will be the Wolfstar. After that, I move on to the Wulfen, then whatever is left over. The CAD is mostly there for the four obsec units (two tacticals plus drop pods). The Chaplain will be attached to the Devastators to give them a little boost should they be forced into combat (if you're wondering about that wonky loadout, they are the first part of an SAF I am working on). Far from an optimized list, but it's what I have to work with, and I need a break from playing my Necrons every week. Thoughts? Criticisms?

I would give serious though to reconfiguring the CAD as a Demi-battle company, you don't get the free transports but the extra OS units, and the extra Combat doctrine will come in really handy.

I would seriously consider starting the Devs on the board, and using the Devastator doctrine turn one or turn2 if you have nothing in range worth shooting. Then take the next 2 turns with Tactical doctrine, and finish out with the Assault doctrine.

Good tip. I'm still trying to get my assault squad put together, but when I do, I plan to use the CAD (at least until I finish a few more models and have a SAF and Skyhammer Orbital Strike Team).
