Genestaeler cult. With just wavs and waves of those close combat hybrid thingies. They are just better orks really and it would look great. The sad thing is that I don't have time to paint it all.

My pick up games dried up and I normally schedule stuff, but I don't think I ever got a chance to play against dark eldar, and that's dissapointing. I also miss playing GKs.

I really want to play GK. Only because a great Idea I had in 3rd ed involved a necron deceiver and a body guard of Pariahs disguised in aegis armour.

Flayed ones to have armour pieces strewn about their persons too.

Having no time for conversions and dipping in and out of 40k over the last few years I really haven't had the impetus to try.

Luckily for me, I've been around long enough that I've played against (and often even with) every faction out there! Sure, many of them are now quite a bit different, but it's been a heck of a ride, let me tell you.

I even recently got to play with my Genestealer Cult. I loved it so much. I really hope the Genestealer Cult codex comes soon and works similar to Guard.

I'd really like to play against a themed Legion Chaos Space Marine list. I haven't played any 30k yet, but I'd be down for that too. Been a long time since I've seen any real Chaos players besides myself.

I'd really like to play against a competitive Chaos Space Marine list....too bad that doesn't exist.

Joking aside, I'd love to play my Eldar/GK list against a Daemonic Incursion. Or vice-versa, use my Tetrad + Tallyband list against an Eldar list.
I'd really like to see how my 2 favorite armies really stack up against each other.

I wouldn't mind going against:

Definitely Orks. Back in 5th, I loved the idea of a Biker Nob gang using FW's beautiful models. Then I saw Kromlechs great coat orks and desert orks a few years later and I fell in love again. Still re-building my main Guard force, so it won't happen for the foreseeable future and the codex makes me sad, but maybe one day...

People are gonna find this weird -- never actually played Eldar.

I've fought a bazillion different marines, IG + Sisters many times, Admech/Orks/Tau once or twice. Never Eldar.

Actually what I would like to go against, (and no, I'm not insane), is Riptide and Wraithknight spam, and try out my Rad list against it.

That'd be good; just a shame we're 200 miles apart.

Tank battle.

Just, nothing but tanks on both sides. Light tanks, heavy tanks, really any kind of tanks. Some superheavies too, but not a lot.

I love the Leman Russ model so much I have like 9 of them, and I bought a Baneblade for the hell of it, but I rarely get to field lots of tanks because I mainly play Sororitas and I like masses of infantry.

My mom likes to play Orks, but I'm not sure which of their vehicles would be a good fight for a pile of Leman Russes. Battlewagons have armor too thick for most of the Russes to scratch. Trukks are way too light. And I don't think they have anything in-between.

Oh, also, someday I'd like to homebrew a "co-op mode" for the tabletop game. Maybe at the Kill Team scale of army sizes. That way my mom and I could team-up against an army of NPCs who follow pre-written instructions for their situations. Kinda like applying video game AI to the tabletop.

That'd be good; just a shame we're 200 miles apart.

Maybe it's because I live in the severely underpopulated country of Canada, but 200 miles doesn't seem like a distance that can't be overcome.

Everything's up-scaled in North America, so while 200 miles to you is piecemeal, what with your great roads, for us chaps in the old world, it's a 4 hour trek down all sorts of winding nonsense and townships.
Actually likely to come close to 6 hours if I get unlucky with Tractors, Cyclist, and Lights, as I normally do.

We sometimes play Hormagauntlet at my local:
You're allowed 150 pts of something, but nothing with T7 +, or vehicles.
You get to defend a trench, on one side of a single 24" plate, and on every odd-numbered turn, 30 Hormagaunts show up and attempt to assault you, with Turn 8 being the last.
(Auto win for my Magos with the Nanyte blaster; that was pretty funny)

Yeah, we have highways with speed limits of 100km/h and there's not usually obstacles between cities. 330km would take like 3 hours and 20 minutes.

I would ordinarily compare it to a trip between cities I know, but Ottawa-Montreal is too short and Ottawa-Toronto is too long.

Also I heard the reason you guys favor small cars is because all the old buildings weren't laid out to accommodate cars so all your city roads are tiny. Around here, something like a Humvee or stretch limo actually can get around pretty easily because there's enough space to accommodate them.

Don't worry, when humans invent a better mode of transportation than cars I'm sure we'll be cursing ourselves for not building things to accommodate it. I hope it's not teleporters. Those things scare the crap out of me, specifically the concern that I'll cease to exist and a perfect doppleganger will appear on the other side who is completely indistinguishable from me. I'm one of those people who believes that my consciousness is completely stored in my brain and physical body, so making a new me won't suddenly make my mind jump bodies. Also there's actually a way to test that theory before potentially killing anyone. Set the transporter to scan someone, but not disintegrate them. Then materialize them using extra energy or mass or whatever it needs. If it works, you basically just invented the ability to create extras of humans with unique skills or knowledge, which has horrifying ramifications on its own. But if that works, was disintegrating the original even needed?

That actually sounds pretty cool. : D

Incidentally, a hopeless last stand is my absolute favorite thing to find myself doing in gaming. Two of the best video game moments of my life came from situations where it didn't matter how many I killed, we were gonna lose, but I kept respawning and killing anyways. Also had a similar moment in the tabletop when my second-last squad fled the battlefield and all I had left was 5 Retributors with 2 Heavy Bolters, who held their ground against way too many Orks to win against until they died. It was awesome.

(don't mind my bragging please) 330km with no roadworks on our highways and driving faster than your guardian angel can fly.. 1.5-2 hours. Autobahn's our friend
BTT; I play Crimson Slaughter - so basically lot's of melee & overpriced units. I really want to play something completely different.. Dark Eldar or Tyranids maybe.
Dark Eldar just look awesome & Tyranids are basically Possessed without armor

RNAS Rockall

1. A hardcore, pure infantry IG list
2. A hardcore, heavily mechanised Ork list
3. A 'hard' flyer heavy list to bounce my own fliers against for a change
4. A foot slogging vanilla marines close combat army

1 & 2 I had the fun of encountering in previous editions and it was a blast as it was a near perfect match for my main armies at the time. 3&4 is me wishing for a mirror match, with my 10 imperial fliers and 70~ scouts respectively.

Some people find the idea that other people can be happy offensive, and will prefer causing harm to self improvement.

Well, generally in Canada you'd only travel 330km to get between cities, and there's pretty much always a highway for trips of those distances. Often you'll pass by exits to towns and cities, but rarely will you actually need to travel through them.

In my experience, anyway. Admittedly I don't travel much.

I'll have to admit; those are always the most fun moments in matches.

In my last game, a lone Ranger managed to stand against 4 assault marines for 3 turns, and my last Tech Thrall managed to charge a pair of Terminators, survive the overwatching, and then hack one to bits before the other rammed a power fist through his chest.
But otherwise, it was a horrific loss. Too many special rules to forget with Skitarii.

-----
Some more armies I'd like to face:

Guardsmen that don't castle.
- (Too many times have I been against Pask with that horrific minigun, and walked about unscathed because he won't go into the middle of the board or something).
DEldar Zoo.
- They've so many cool things beyond floating barge mebobs, yet I never see them.
Barrel of Monkeys.
- That's still a thing in 7th, right?
Ork Mech entourage, with all the Dreads and Mega Armour.

Incidentally, I find myself wanting to face armies I have a hankering to get myself.

That 'Nid mine spam? AdMech RC drone army, probably using things like those Death Korp exploding tanks.
It'd be a lot of fun making all these little robot jobbies.
- And the Come the Apocalypse rule makes sense when the drones target the nearest thing without a Cybernetica Cortex.

I for one don't Pask, and am a big fan of both reckless tank shocking and sentinels. The Glasgow GW store is the biggest in Scotland apparently, so if you're in the area..
