So this means the Italians voted against Fascism or for it? I can't get a clear answer.

Well, on one hand, the reforms would have possibly made Italian governments more stable. I mean, from that BBC article, Renzi is the 4th longest serving Italian Prime Minister since 1990 and he served for under 3 years. Italy has had 41 Prime Ministers since WW2, that is 41 PMs in 71 years, averaging each premiership at around 1.7 years. Hardly a very strong record of stability.
On the other hand, that attempt for stability involved cutting the power of the Italian senate pretty drastically when it came to day-to-day running of the country, basically allowing it to be overruled and ignored if the other house wanted. It would still have power in laws covering some areas, though, but apparently the Italian people felt that the restrictions were too much. The senate was designed to represent local interests, if I'm reading wikipedia correctly, and the Italian people didn't want to give up that local accountability, it seems.

Yeah, Trump has just been all over the place in his Cabinet picks. It's like he's throwing darts at a dartboard or something. He's made some good picks (Chao, Mattis, Haley, and hopefully Romney), but then other picks have just been off the wall or just downright bad.

Seattle has now had its very high minimum wage in place for two years. I don't know if people remember but it was debated heavily here on this forum, with many people based that it would be a horrible job killer. This was based on some combination of ideology and half remembered Econ 101.
Results are in, and Seattle has 3.4% unemployment, a new cycle low and about as low as unemployment has ever been in the city.
I eagerly look forward to people taking this information on board and realising that minimum wage isn't necessarily a job killer, that it part of a much more complex system than a simple demand and supply graph, and realising there are in fact many places where you can increase minimum wage without impacting joblessness.
Or possibly they'll ignore this real world data, and carry on believing what Republican pundits tell them. Let's find out!
There was an article I saw a few months back now, IIRC I may have found it via Nick Hanauer's FB page, but he didn't write it.... Anyhow, apparently the anti-$15 people have latched onto the idea around here for this one particular pizza shop that had been open for some 30+ years around the U district. Long story short, the owner closed down, and both he and those anti-$15 types are blaming these initiatives on it closing.
What the article pointed out was this: If we take him at is word, and $15/hr killed his business, why is it that the same exact block of streets his shop was on has seen 5 pizza places open up since his closed, AND all 5 places are doing much better numbers than his shop ever did (IIRC the article may have said almost double, but I don't want to firmly say that)... Apparently, his business actually died because he got lazy at pizza, and was basically just a big donkey-cave to people, so they began speaking with their wallets.

Seattle enacted its new minimum wage law April 1, 2015 so it's been less than 2 years. The $15 minimum wage won't affect all businesses until 2021 it's being phased in over a period of 7 years. Some qualifying businesses will be paying $15/hr minimum wage to some qualifying employees effective January 1, 2017. The passage of the legislation hasn't triggered any negative economic effects yet but we still have several years to go before its full impact is felt. It's good that the early reaction to the wage increase hasn't been catastrophic for Seattle's economy, nobody wants bad economic policy but it's too early to declare that $15/hr is actually in effect in Seattle and it's much too early to be able t effectively evaluate the full effect of such a wage increase.

People almost elected a woman who took such drastic and gakky steps to avoid public accountability that she ended up with an email server that was hacked by foreign governments.
A man has been arrested after firing a rifle inside a pizza restaurant in Washington that was the target of a bizarre fake US election story.
No-one was injured in the incident at Comet Ping Pong, police said.
A 28-year-old man from North Carolina was taken into police custody.
The pizzeria has been targeted by conspiracy theorists who believe it is involved in a child sex ring run by former US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and aide John Podesta.
The man arrested on Sunday told police he went to the restaurant to "self-investigate" the theory, dubbed "pizzagate".
The suspect allegedly walked into the restaurant and pointed the rifle at an employee, who managed to flee. He later fired the weapon.
He has been charged with assault with a dangerous weapon.
The "pizzagate" theory originated on alternative message board 4chan, based on emails hacked from the Democratic Party and leaked by Wikileaks.
The restaurant's owner, James Alefantis, a Democratic Party donor, appears in the emails in relation to organising a Democratic fundraiser.
Users of 4chan and another message board Reddit claimed that words in the emails, such as cheese, hot dog, and pizza, were code for young children and sex acts.
The bizarre and unfounded theory has been spread online by right-wing blogs such as Infowars, which is run by Donald Trump supporter Alex Jones.
Mr Jones, a conspiracy theorist and talk radio host, said Mr Trump called him the day after the election to thank him and his followers.
The theory was also pushed online by Michael Flynn Jr, son of General Michael Flynn, Mr Trump's choice for national security adviser.
Mr Alefantis, the owner of Comet Pizza, has received hundreds of threatening messages on Instagram and Facebook.
There have also been protests outside the eatery.
The conspiracy theory was one of a number of fake news stories related to the US election that have spread both before and after the poll.
Bodes well.
For two reasons.
First, this is an act of alt-right/fringe right terrorism, but no one's going to call it that - it'll be passed off as some crazy nut taking a conspiracy theory too far.
Pass if off just like that guy taking his cues from SPLC to shooting up the FRC office?
How 'bout we focus on the donkey-cave who decided to bring violence...

He has been charged with a assault with a deadly weapon. As he fired said weapon, they should include at least the charge of attempted manslaughter (or the equivalent in that jurisdiction).

The reality of the pizza situation was that the guy was basically forced to close because he was an arsehole to customers, and drove so many away that he couldn't keep his doors open. When the $15/hr law passed (note, I'm not referring to the date it was enacted as you pointed out), he thought he saw an opportunity to blame something other than himself, and took it.... The problem is, a larger number of businesses offering the same service he did (pizza) opened on the same block as his location, and each individually is putting up numbers better than he had.

Look... while Patreaus does have qualifications to be a decent SoS.. his mishandling of classified information should absolutely disqualify him from any Federal appointments.

We agree on the pizzeria the wage changes haven't been enacted yet to any degree that would be significant enough to be the primary factor in driving that business to close. I was trying to point out to you and Webster that it's still too early to tell if the wage increases are good or bad because we have to wait until next month/year to see some people start to earn $15/hr and it will be another 5 years before everybody in Seattle has a minimum wage of $15/hr. Most bills that raise the minimum wage do so gradually so it can be a slower rate than something you might see businesses already do like a 3% cost of living increase done annually. The gradual increase mitigates both the positive and negative attributes of the increase. The slow increase is easier for businesses to absorb but the long timeline minimizes the benefit, will $15/hr in 2020 be significantly more buying power than $12/hr in 2016?

That is why it is a bad idea to make up false lying news stories to incite them to take action.
Nah.
"don’t write or say something that could set off some some random nutter.” Is absolutely hogwash.
That argument presumes that the those bad guys has some sanity... and it’s somehow incumbent on us to not write/say something that can cause the nutty to lash out.
That's like saying that the Charle Hebdo writers are at fault...
Or SPLC (who I despise) is to blame for Floyd Lee Corkin shooting at the FRC office...
EDIT: also, that Andrew Breibart tweet is a classic example of being taken out of context. This was at the time when Veritas had a sting on the ACORN offices...

True. I'll give ya that.

Well when there is a major political party who has a large majority that actually believes Obama is a Muslim or was not born here (including trump). It is easy to see how they can be tricked so easily

Sessions for AG and Tom Price for HHS are rock solid... not sure where's the objection (other than they're establishment GOPers).
I have no opinion on Betsy DeVos for Education. :shrugs:
So, yeah Carson for HUD makes no bloody sense at all.

That one event was built on a lie, sure. But it ain't a stretch to believe that there's racial disparity and a serious us vs. them problem with the police in this country, especially if you're black.

First of all, I am very sorry if this is late.
State politics, so possibly irrelevant. Pat McCrory has finally conceded to Roy Cooper. As much as I would like to say it will teach Republicans to not be bigoted and anti-labor, we all know it won't.

In honor of this moment, let us take a moment to contemplate the good things McCrory has done for our state.
{silence}
Ok, we're done. BYE BYE .
There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.
Sessions for AG and Tom Price for HHS are rock solid... not sure where's the objection (other than they're establishment GOPers).

Sessions... the same guy who was denied a previous post as a judge because he was "too political"... yeah, a real "solid" choice for AG
Price for HHS... OK, he's got an MD, and he was an orthopedic surgeon at one point. He then went on as a politician and completely ignored much of his med school knowledge, as a few instances of foot-in-mouth comments... he's gone off the deep-end as far as women's health is concerned.
The problem I have with DeVos is, as I mentioned in my previous post: she's a silver spoon kid, she never went to a public school at any point in her education, and none of her kids have either... AND, on top of all that, as an adult, she's campaigned for policies which would remove further funding from the schools that need it most: the public ones.
The problem with these policies is that she's basically helping a fairly insignificant minority of people...
