Donald Trump passed over a potential candidate for Secretary of State due to his bushy mustache, according to insiders close to the incoming US President.
Several of Mr Trump’s associates said they thought that John Bolton’s brush-like mustache was one of the factors that handicapped the bombastic former United Nations ambassador in the sweepstakes for the role.
“Donald was not going to like that mustache,” said one, who spoke on condition of anonymity. “I can’t think of anyone that’s really close to Donald that has a beard that he likes.
... well..
yeah.
TBF i think Bolton is a grade A witch of the worst kind so I'm not exactly gnashing ones teeth here.

I met some really great Air Force GENERALS and Navy ADMIRALS today, talking about airplane capability and pricing. Very impressive people!
They read all of a book and count the numbers. Nobody helps them. They’ve been to abroad, not in a hotel! Uniforms. And then we had ice cream.
Is it possible to somehow buy shares in ALL CAPS at all ? If so, then buy quickly.
Outside of America, Bush was considered to be a really dumb president.
Trump is beyond that state. That American people voted for him and still try to support him or the mockery of his party is now the real laughingstock. Sadly, it is not funny at all for a lot of people.
Welcome to New Republican Fascism.

That being said, He was enrolled in school as a child as an Indonesian citizen. That would make his parents liars, not him I guess.
How old was he at the time? Most countries don't require children of mixed nationality to choose a country of citizenship until their age of majority (18 or older). This allows them to claim citizenship in both countries, creating dual-citizenship in essence until such time as they have to decide.
Here's a real world example. My wife is Japanese, I am American, this makes our daughter 1/2 Japanese and 1/2 American. American law allows for dual citizenship; however, Japanese law does not. The Japanese govt issued her with a Japanese passport and recognizes her as a Japanese citizen, the same for the US. Japanese law is such that she'll need to decide on her nationality when she's 18 (or possibly 19, my memory is spotty).
This appears to be the case in Indonesia as well:
The Indonesian nationality law does not recognize dual citizenship except for persons under the age of 18 (single citizenship principle).
This was from the 2006 Nationality law in Indonesia; I don't know what the laws were when Obama lived there nor am I interested enough to dig further. Suffice it to say that it's entirely plausible for a child to hold dual-citizenship in countries where it's not legal for adults.
But here is the catch, neither of his parents are of Indonesian heritage. Let's use your example. Let's say you re-married to a woman from Canada, then immigrated there. Your daughter is half American, half Japanese. Even if she was under 18, there is no way Canada would consider her Canadian unless you jumped through Canadian immigration laws.
Not that I really believe the birther theories, I was just saying that one or two things they claim weren't 100 bat gak crazy (just 95% or so).
While that's true, Indonesian law allows someone to become a citizen if they're married to an Indonesian citizen. Obama's mom was married to an Indonesian citizen at the time which would result in Obama being granted citizenship (at least until the age of majority).

So we are all on the same page, here is what Merriam-Webster has to say....
Definition of fascism
1
often capitalized : a political philosophy, movement, or regime that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition
2
: a tendency toward or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control
So, not there yet America. However, with all the zaniness in NC, we all might want to read, It Can't Happen Here
In 1936 Senator Berzelius "Buzz" Windrip, a charismatic and power-hungry politician, wins the election as President of the United States on a populist platform, promising to restore the country to prosperity and greatness, and promising each citizen $5,000 a year. Portraying himself as a champion of traditional American values, Windrip easily defeats his opponents, Senator Walt Trowbridge and President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Though having previously foreshadowed some authoritarian measures in order to reorganize the United States government, Windrip rapidly outlaws dissent, incarcerates political enemies in concentration camps, and trains and arms a paramilitary force called the Minute Men, who terrorize citizens and enforce the policies of Windrip and his "corporatist" regime. One of his first acts as president is to eliminate the influence of the United States Congress, which draws the ire of many citizens as well as the legislators themselves. The Minute Men respond to protests against Windrip's decisions harshly, attacking demonstrators with bayonets. In addition to these actions, Windrip's administration, known as the "Corpo" government, curtails women's and minority rights, and eliminates individual states by subdividing the country into administrative sectors. The government of these sectors is managed by "Corpo" authorities, usually prominent businessmen or Minute Men officers. Those accused of crimes against the government appear before kangaroo courts presided over by "military judges". Despite these dictatorial (and "quasi-draconian") measures, a majority of Americans approve of them, seeing them as necessary but painful steps to restore American power. Others, those less enthusiastic about the prospect of corporatism, reassure themselves that fascism cannot "happen here", hence the novel's title.

That's the arqument but what's the target? Let's assume they were right. What they are hoping to accomplish with it?
Only thing I can come up with is making his presidency illegal(maybe resulting in laws he set be automatically pulled back? Is that even possible?) but at that point we would have to come into conclusion that the part of US goverment that's responsible for making sure president meets legal requirements would have to be grossly incompetent. Well, Trump insists that he has ten billion dollars. He probably doesn't, but it's what he insists on.
Coincidentally, the ticket cost of a planned, future mission to Mars that will send volunteers to live there, is ALSO ten billion dollars.
This means that if Trump actually does have ten billion dollars like he says he does... yes, we CAN send Trump to Mars, AND make him pay for it!

I think the Martians will be so clueless about the English language and human body language that it doesn't matter whether they meet Trump or our finest corps of diplomats, no one's understanding a damned thing anyone else is saying or doing.

Actually, that is the interesting part. When he was born, that was not the case. A single mom had to have lived in the US for (I think) 10 years including at least (I think) 5 after she was 14. She had him when she was too young to have met that requirement when he was born IF he was indeed born overseas. A 1994 amendment which was retroactive back to (I think) 1934 changed that rule though, which would have retroactively granted him citizenship as of the time of his birth but there would have needed to be some paperwork done.
Of course all that assumes he was not born in Hawaii, an assumption I do not make.

I looked this up a few weeks ago to rebut some ass hat claiming Obama was not a citizen, I did not re-read it today so any mistakes above are due to my piss poor memory and not intentional on my part.

Hmm... Well, that would suggest he'd think of building an indestructible barrier between the orbits of Earth and Mars. Eventually a sane human being would tell him that wouldn't work because you could always just go under or over it, because space is three-dimensional.
Eventually you'd realize that it would be way, WAY easier to just build a spherical wall around one planet or the other, like the Diamondillium barrier in the second Futurama movie.

Someone hit on it earlier. The whole thing was an excuse by certain individuals to help paint him as "other", i.e. not "one of us" which made it easier for people to hate/oppose him so it became, "we're not doing this because you're black, we're doing it because you're not really American." So when the birth certificate was finally produced to shut them up, suddenly it wasn't the right birth certificate...and so on.
I'm with Frazz on this one; mom was American, he was born on American soil, the rest was just people trying to delegitimize his actions as President. It's like the whole ape comment by that mayor a month or so ago, there are some asininely backwards people in the US who apparently just want any excuse to make non-whites less. The good news is that we white people are on the cusp of being a minority so Trump is hopefully the angry white man's last hoorah.

That's the arqument but what's the target? Let's assume they were right. What they are hoping to accomplish with it?
***I truly have no idea.
Only thing I can come up with is making his presidency illegal(maybe resulting in laws he set be automatically pulled back? Is that even possible?) but at that point we would have to come into conclusion that the part of US goverment that's responsible for making sure president meets legal requirements would have to be grossly incompetent. Not like they have to check thousands of peoples per year!
***That is plausible, but it wouldn't work once he's sworn in.
Sceptism toward goverment I can understand but this feels more than a wee bit too crazy sceptism
***Yea you think? I'll be frank. I've run into several on the internetz who believed this stuff but they always seemed as Frazzled Sr. would say "crazier than a gak rat. "

Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? Can it be?....Frazz has just unleashed his hidden weiner dog from his mini bag, while quoting shakespeares "Let slip the dogs the war!!" GG

Because we have roughly 1,750 operational nukes and it only takes 100 to cause a global ice age.... A 2014 report published in the journal Earth's Future found that even a regional war of 100 nuclear detonations would produce 5 teragrams of black soot (that's 5,000,000,000 kg!) that would rise up to Earth's stratosphere and block sunlight. This would produce a sudden drop in global temperatures that could last longer than 25 years and temporarily destroy much of the Earth's protective ozone layer. This could also cause as much as an 80% increase in UV radiation on Earth's surface and destroy both land and sea-based ecosystems, potentially leading to global nuclear famine.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do |
