Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

There is no line, 40k goes to 11.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

The entire background is pretty much a fantasy space opera. It is not in any shape or form hard sci-fi. I see it as fun and a mish mash of (mostly) great ideas.

It is full of elements which are unrealistic at best:

- Space travel via n alternate dimension
- Evil gods formed from emotional resonances
- Daemons
- Psionics are just magic
- Many silly weapons which would never work in reality
- People being raised up to daemonhood
- the God Emperor
- starships which are miles long

The things which bother me aren't the extremity of it but the inconsistencies which creep in. Humans are incapable of understanding their own technology and can only replicate it through bizarre esoteric ritualised rote copying - but - new weapons etc are sometimes invented, no xenos have raced past humanity in technology even with 10,000 years to do so (except the Tau I suppose), etc.

That's one of the best metaphors I've ever heard.

Yes.

Either Rogue Trader or 2nd edition had a half-Eldar Ultramarines Librarian.

Though it's worth noting that Eldar think of Humans like we humans in real life think of other primates, so an Eldar who's willing to bed a Human would be considered a creepy, disgusting pervert by other Eldar.

The more cool a thing is, the more it gets a pass on the realism front.
The problem is things that are unrealistic, but not cool enough to get a free pass.

Scale is one of them.
- The smallest frigate seems to be larger than the largest of titans. The fact that a frigate is bigger than a titan isn't particularly cool, so I don't give it a pass. Frigates can be produced from even low-tech shipyards, so why the big song and dance about titans being Super Special when you can just use frigates instead?
- "Vast" armies taking over planets. "Vast" being measured in tens of thousands of Imperial Guard soldiers, despite the fact that ww2 armies were significantly larger.
- Plasma weapons being borderline LostTech, yet are issued (in small numbers) to Imperial Guard specialists (not even veterans) from regular regiments.

The core background is consistant, well linked and entairning. However, since they strted geting on they're bigmonsterOPmania, i do feel almost all that they've recently created is far, far fetched. But ohterwise they would be no way they would get this accepted by lots of casuals.

Anyway this isn't successful.......

I rwally can't imagine a line that could be crossed in the wake of that one guy carving his name on Mortarion's heart (ironic that I cannot recall his name).

Well, as far as Vast IGs, you're getting it wrong: gotta count in regiments

Then plasma weapons... ah, must be administration playing up...

Thouhg, the most feteched when i think back about that.... How haven't Eldars deseapered yet??? War, low population, baically endangered by the whole galaxy and planetless. I mean, how?

Hyperspace

Low population is still billions. Several hundred million live on each craftworld. There is a lot of empty space in the galaxy, it's reasonable to assume something as stealthy as a craftworld not being found unless it wanted to.

Uhh, how would counting less than 100,000 IG soldiers in terms of the regiments they're a part of make it any more realistic that they could hold an entire planet? Planets are friggin huge.

Yeah, there's no way to even attempt to explain that one, really...

I was calm.

A little confused, but certainly not angry or even upset.
