I currently have a Grey Knights force, and I plan on having a Deathwatch one as well. I started comparing the armies, and I noticed that they have their fair share of similarities. I know that the "Marines, but more elite" genre means that there isn't too far they can stretch things, but I'd like a discussion.

As I see it they are both set up to be marines +1. I think the largest difference is that Grey Knights are the army that shoots you until they can assault you, while it looks like Deathwatch will play as the army that shoots you until you can assault them.

Both have troops units that start out with the same number of men and the same point cost. I think Grey knights are a little better off the bat. Sure, everyone but the Justicar has one less attack than Deathwatch, but a storm bolter is still better than special-ammo bolters, Force weapons are much better than CCW's, and Aegis and psychic powers are arguably better than the Deathwatch special rules. In addition, every additional Grey knight is cheaper than a Deathwatch marine.

I think it starts to even out with wargear. Grey Knights have somewhat better melee weapons, but Deathwatch has better ranges upgrades, and can take more of them.

Would GK vs DW in a game be exciting or boring as feth?

It is also worth to take a serious look at the non terminator GK marines. When you compare them to DW. They are generally overlooked but offer some quite interesting and unique options.

Vortimer pattern vehicles still have 1+ str ammo.

And while those space monkeys are not in their codex they do still play an important role in making their (digital) weapons

And you're seriously suggesting a direction comparison between the upgrade to a Forgeworld vehicle with baseline upgrades that exist for most units and actually exists in the codex that is being talked about? Come on.

Reeeeally though? And Deathwatch digital weapons? Who made them? You're really phoning it in here.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

I think option B would give a Sister of Battle a decent amount of enjoyment.

If you add a melta in there it's practically a Sororitas' wet dream.

There needs to be a Predator variant for the SoB that has a Melta Cannon for the turret and can take multi-melta sponsons called the Incinerator.
