When it says 4 choices in any combination, it means you can have 1 of any of the kill teams, to the max of 4 correct? In other words, you can't just pick 4 Purgatus Kill Teams. but 1 different Kill Team upto 4.

And this might seem silly...it is a formation, so each of the choices remains a separate unit, its not one big merged unit....

.Only a fool believes there is such a thing as price gouging. Things have value determined by the creator or merchant. If you don't agree with that value, you are free not to purchase.

It says 4 choices in any combination from the following list, so it means any combination and doesn't stop you taking the same choice multiple times.

And yes, being a formation doesn't make all units merge and count as one unit.

Where does it asay that? It is not a default rule for most 40k formations, it is just a restriction on certain KT ones. The watch companiy iirc is not 4 KT merged into one big one.

You should reread mr shine's post more carefully.

My question on the watch company(and the leader-formation who's name eludes me at the moment); is how they can even exist under the current rules. Each Kill Team is a formation, which is a special type of detachment, then they are all placed in another Formation making the models therein parts of 2 detachments without the caveat that allows them to be like the decurion-style detachments.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
Stop looking for buzz words and start reading the whole sentences.

The answer is clearly that GW doesn't care and intends the rule set to be more of a general framework for having fun, narrative based games with your friends. Trying to find consistency within the rules is a fool's errand. It's simply not there in many cases.

There are just too many places where the rules break down, but can be overlooked with common sense. I've started just assuming that the rules are written by Orks. Sure, an average human can't figure out exactly how they work, but the Orks really, really want them to work... so they do. Most of the time. Except when they don't. Sort of depends on how Mork is feeling today. Or maybe Gork. Always so hard to tell.
