oh wow ...well that's made my day! ...and yes, it does look utterly ridiculous, (in all the best ways, imo )...but...y'know what?...that head works a lot better than it has any right to! I'm genuinely surprised!

I think the head you used works great. I've tried it on mine and really liked it but I don't want to copy so I've opted for another. Its sounds quite a faff getting the space marine head in the nobs helmet but I think it looks really good, congrats. I took some photos of the heads I tried but id didn't go with any of these:

oh yeah, it was a bit of a pain carving the head out of the helmet...took a good half hour to an hour of many many slices from various angles ...I'm happy with how it turned out though

...I kinda like this one, you need to model some flames onto it, and have him standing beside a warbike...an orky version of "ghost rider"

...this one is pretty cool too...if only it was a little smaller...the mask makes it a bit too bulky unfortunately...

...and yeah...that nob head does work pretty well on him as-is...huh...I had already converted the head before my white dwarf arrived (I got too impatient ), so I didn't actually get a look at the original head on there...

...so which head are you going with, if not any of those?...the one you posted before, with the skull-hairdo? (which I still think works pretty well )...or a completely different one again?

yeah, perhaps I should magnetize his head! heh...

I thought you were going to say many many slices into my fingers...

great idea... need more slaughter priests....

same head as posted before, but I've cut off the skull + hair... I've painted that head perhaps 7 or 8 times, I want him to look a little different to my boyz =)

just trying to figure our if I should to the torn up marines as blood angels (my other army) or ultras, the ground is yellow/cream dessert colour (i used for all my bases as my board is themed like this) so I want something to contrast. Perhaps a green marine as I want the blood spatter I will inevitably daub onto it to stand out.

/off-topic How are the goff rockers coming on? Any WIP sneak peaks?

that too! - there's about a dozen little nicks in my thumb that I'm pretty sure came from doing that

yeah...I kinda wish I'd ordered a few more copies of white dwarf now

ahh ok, yeah that works, I like it...the expression on his face goes with the pose nicely imo ....and I just noticed the skull codpiece!!

hmm...I'd lean towards a mangled ultramarine myself...well I mean, who doesn't love seeing a mangled ultramarine ...and the blue would probably be a good contrast to the sandy/yellowish base, green ork, and red blood splatter (of course, I might be a bit biased here, my boyz have looted 2 ultramarine rhino's to use as trukks, and an ultramarine drop pod to use as the howdah on a squiggoth )

 Moolet wrote:

the rockers themselves are still just primed, but I made a start on the wagon lastnight, there's a lot of black, and a decent amount of chequers so far ...I'm about to go do some more work on it now actualy, so I'll probably post an update on my plog in a few hours

...also off-topic...good lord, I think I've done more quotes between this and my last post, than I have this year!

I think the marine should be a Blood Angel, which would complement your other army.

Well, I went and bought the September White Dwarf, so now I have a SLAUGHTERHACK WITH PRIESTBLADE. I mean a SLAUGHTERBLADE WITH HACKPRIEST. No, I really mean a SLAUGHTERPRIEST WITH HACKBLADE! I haven't even decided yet on what I'm going to use the model for, let alone started assembling him. I may use him as a Chaos Lord, but most likely he'll be a Herald of Khorne for my KDK army. If I go the Herald route, I'll probably assemble the model stock, but paint his skin to match my Bloodletters (in other words, bright red with orange highlights). If I have a spare Bloodletter head, I might just use it as well (although it'll most likely look kinda funny on this beefy guy...).

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700
Check out my P&M Blogs: ZergSmasher's P&M Blog | Imperial Knights blog | Board Games blog | Total models painted in 2024: 40 | Total models painted in 2025: 25 | Current main painting project: Tomb Kings

Sweet work on the metals and the skin (ie everything eh?!!) best one I've seen thus far. You should enter him over on BoW; they've got a SlaughterFella with HackThingy comp running there.
Mine is still unbuilt, unloved and in its baggie o.O

Thanks so much guys :-) It really means a lot to hear some kind words, I think you can see how much hard work I put into this fella. Gonna aim to enter some Golden Demons next year (only aiming for a finalist pin, mind you) so this was my push to see what I can do right now and where I need to improve.

PS, you guys should all buy some plinths! That one cost me £2.50 or so. Spray it black and it's ready to go :-)

Feh, that ball was on-sides and he should have known better then to call the foul. Got what he deserved.

Love the mini. Not every day you see someone swinging around by their own entrails.

I've eventually got mine done, zapp-boss with splat-ball, slaughter-zapp with boss-ball, klaw-priest with hack-ball. Something like that... I'll likely use him as a warboss with powerklaw. It was my first time using the blood spatter technique, (I never dared before). I really enjoyed it but perhaps I went too far. heh

I've taken the images with the camera on my new phone and I think its compressing them too much, I need to find an alternative...

I've finished my SLAUGHTER PRIEST WITH HACKBLADE now. I entered him into a painting competition at my local GW. Came nowhere. I'll get some photos of the shameful results of my paint-slopping and post them up soon, so you can all marvel at my hubris.

The nmm is great, the smooth blending on the armour is absolutely amazing, the subtle redness around the chest scar works really well, and the base is spectacular. Quite the first post.

I can kind of sense what must have been your frustration with that stupid bit of rock under the skull. It's impossible to make it look completely right on a more scenic base, isn't it? I had problems with it when I painted my SLAUGHTERPRIESTS. I don't feel like I solved the problem. If it's any consolation, I wouldn't have noticed your rock if I hadn't walked in from trying to use all manner of washes and glazes to try and blend mine in with the base.

Yeah, that's just stunning! I think it even beats Bottle's, which I thought was going to remain untouched as the unofficial SLAUGHTERPRIESTIEST SLAUGHTERPRIEST that ever did SLAUGHTERPRIEST! Both are superb, though!

Thanks for the comments on my Slaughterpriest guys, he was a joy to paint, such a great sculpt, and glad you are liking him. Will probably put him up for sale at some point (got 3 more of them to paint yet)

All of your conversions inspired me.

So, here is my first every conversion attempt. I wanted the slaughterpriest to work in my 40k collection. I apologize for the images. This is the first time I have tried to take pictures of a miniature. Also, the first time that I have ever posted. Feedback is welcome.
