For those of you with a problem with the Rock's comments in the previous video, try his comments in the video below (at the 2:11 mark)

Ugh - that's one hell of a tone deaf comment from the Rock.

Hard to believe that he doesn't "get it" here.

Great three-way TLC match on SmackDown last night between #DIY, the Motor City Machine Guns and the Street Profits for the belts last night. I can see why people were saying this would have been a better WrestleMania match than the New Day/War Raiders match. My only question is what happened to Tomasso Ciampa's beard?

Spoiler:
Seems like he suffered a fall and had to shave his beard to gets stitches on his chin.

Yup, exactly my feelings towards the rock.

Right, hello, friends, I got through wrestlemania!

Night 1:
While the opener was OK, and Tiffany Stratton vs. Charlotte was OK, I just don't get the appeal of Tiffany Stratton. This character is throwing humanity back in its development, more so than Lacey Evans or Emmalina. The whole match was 'two blonde athletic tens in the same outfit' (nothing against Charlotte; she's class in the ring). Add to this the Grande Americano stuff (which I'm technically not against, but in combination with the other stuff on the card it was kinda exhausting. This felt like WWE 2017.This felt like a pre-show, full of unnecessary stuff. By the end, I was kinda sad. Most of the things on display made me feel nothing what so ever WTF was the entrance gear of the War Raiders? Was that some Clash of Clans thing?

Wtf, WWE acquired AAA. This is huge. Just huge.

Btw, I dislike Pat McAffee more than ever before. Not a fan of the 3 commentator booth in general, but McAffee adds NOTHING to the show, talks over stuff, mindlessly repeats catchphrases; he's what Michael Cole was in 2016, but more unnecessary.

Main event was very good. I mean look at the guys involved. Roman Reigns' facials are amazing at this point, especially in their interplay with Heyman's. Also: In Living Colour! Listen to their music, it's nice.

Night 2:
First match: great. With the CORRECT outcome. Really enjoyed the match.

As for Logan Paul . What an artless, unimaginative piece of crap. Not that we didn't know that already. Yes, the match was technically OK. Whoop-dee-doo. If I had heck-all else to do but to train, have AJ Styles carry me through a match and have months of preparation, backed up by very expensive equipment, chemicals and trainers, I might have an OK match with the greats of wrestling. This may draw me as a really sad nerd, and I'm willing to accept that, but first nicking the Buckshot Lariat and then the You Can't Escape routine..... it's just so cheap. And sure, yeah, Paul is supposed to be a 'heel' and make us angry, but the guy just disgusts me as much as his ridiculous drink, and all the other ridiculous stuff he sells, including himself. And it's not like WWE sold him as a bad guy to begin with. They thought he'd be cheered. He wasn't. He was hated from the get-go because of what he made his public persona. I don't wish anything bad on anyone, I just don't want him in wrestling or anywhere near my narrow little field of perception.

Now, let's go on to nicer things. Like McIntyre vs. Damien Priest. Lovely match. Video game ads are silly (even though I'm entirely convinced that Doom Dark Ages will be lovely. I recently played Doom Eternal again and had a LOVELY time.). One of the people I watched with was VERY impressed with the Slayer guitar man playing Priest to the ring because he adores him. Cool match.

I also enjoyed the 4-way between Penta, Breakker, Dom and Balor.

Orton's match was perfect.
Spoiler:
I used to be incredibly bored with Orton too, up until very few years ago. MIght have something to do with the fact that the two people I watch with now really adore him, much more than I do. He still looks amazing, the pose is always a nice moment and apart from that, he's an incredibly self-aware, funny guy and somehow I admire his ability of being the king of not doing much whilst being adored by everyone and getting paychecks for appearances. Joe Hendry was a great opponent, nothing bad in losing to Orton, even if you're the TNA champion. It was a funny match, very funny moment with the Hendry-turn-and-smile and getting kicked or RKO'd or whatever. Very reminiscent of the great moment of Ricochet talking on the mic when he was kicked in the head by Speedball Mike Bailey 2 weeks ago at AEW Dynasty(?).

Women's Tag championship match. I wasn't aware that Bayley was out injured. Feeling like some plans changed there. Anyway, lovely match, just right. I'm very impressed with Lyra Valkyria in general for months now; she'll be a big deal, at least I hope so (more so than other NXT call-ups of recent. Except for Giulia maybe, she's got that Japan-bonus with me. ). Those wings were amazing. I've seen many wrestlers attempt wings with entrances. Now these here were lovely. I loved the way they moved. Yes, it can be viewed as silly, but to me these were just aesthetically pleasing wings. Even better than Scurll's back in the day. So Lyra Valkyria's wings are the #1 wings in wrestling now. The feathers in her hair were a ton of fun during the match, flying everywhere with each hit.
Spoiler:
Becky Lynch return! Wee! Got spoilered on this one, but ok. And look, she returns as The Man. No stupid glasses, no stupid hair-do, no stupid make-up. Just an ass-kicker. Such a lovely change from bloody 'tiffy time'. The WWE women's roster needs ass-kickers.). Also: Liv Morgan is so bloody good. I think she carried the women's division even more so than Rhea Ripley did the past year.

Main event was very good too. That John Cena is excellent. Cody does the role perfectly as well. Not a fan of having the rapper in there, but oh hey.

So yeah, that was my experience. Bit mixed, but made up for on the second night. I never was a fan of two day events. Not for Wrestlemania, not for Wrestle Kingdom, not for Summer Slam. It's also funny how the originally pretty ingenious HHH booking on this event seemingly reverted to ...former days.

Peeked into the RAW after 'mania too.
Spoiler:
Very good Cena promo, some retconning on the women's tag titles. Maybe we get an interesting face run by Valkyria now in which she has to stand up to very strong heel adversaries. Pairing Rollins with Breakker under Heyman is a VERY good idea. I always liked Authority Rollins best, this might be a new version of that. Good to see Sami Zayn. Having a mania without Owens AND Zayn just felt wrong.

Spoiler:
Interested to see what the plan with Cody is now, and might watch more wrestling since it is on Netflix!

He is pushing 40 and been the top babyface for 3 years now (FOTC before that in AEW too), and he's said that he doesn't want to wrestle into old age like Flair!

If I was HHH and looking at my 5 year plan, I would want to resolve the storyline with Cena, potentially get the belt back on Cody (Unless he keeps getting booed!) and then have another short reign before putting over a younger guy with more long term company prospects?
Potentially we need to fit in a feud with some proxy of the Rock in there too?

Ultimately a fair amount to fit in and maybe all a bit predictable?

That doesn't preclude her from playing Black Cat in the new Spider-Man film, depending on how big the roles are for the two films.

The alternative would be the wrestlers going to a rest hold while they cut away from the match to air traditional commercials.

Fair play. He didn't do much, according to what I hear he got lots of money.

Shame about Baszler. She could be Stardom-bound, if she wants to put up with the schedule and the whole wrestling malarky still. Can't really see her anywhere else; MAYBE the New Japan Dojo in the US, if that's still a thing?

Not familiar with the NXT people to be honest.

At least it sounds like Shotzi isn't a release, as much as a "Sorry, we're not renewing your contract when it expires" - which has the advantage, as far as I recall, of no 90-day no compete clause.

Really it kinda should be the other way round if you think about it. No-competes should be void if the employing party is the one terminating the contract.

Just, nobody really has the money to fight it, and the one who did fight it (Brock when he was going to the UFC did a short stint in Japan beforehand) got WWE to settle and drop it rather than go through with the court case to enforce it in case they lost.

The Laws of Thermodynamics:
1) You cannot win. 2) You cannot break even. 3) You cannot stop playing the game.

No. The non-compete is part of the contract that if you're released, you can't wrestle for 60 or 90 days. If the contract just expires, then nothing in that contract would still apply, including non-compete clauses.

Vienna, Austria

Yeah, it's gonna be good. I'm kinda hyped again for the first time in a while. (tbh, I watched less wrestling lately. No WWE since 'mania, even missed a few Dynamites. Haven't followed TJPW for almost a year now? possibly longer? Sheesh. So much to do.)

Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford vs. Anna Jay and Harley Cameron - Yeeeaaah, tag matches! B) I assume this will end up on the pre-show. Nonetheless - I like Penelope Ford, and also Harley Cameron (as a lower card babyface). Bayne and Ford win.

Jamie Hayter vs. Mercedes Moné - Oh, if wrestlers dressed like wrestlers. I think that would help the cause. My money is on Moné winning. Then we have Moné vs Storm at All In.

The Hurt Syndicate (Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin) (c) (with MVP and MJF) vs. The Sons of Texas (Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara) - What an odd pairing. Hurt Syndicate beat the Sons of Texas (Rhodes will pull amazing things out of his hat for his age, Guevara will get tossed around and then bounce down somewhere. Then he gets thrown around again). And Hurt Syndicate will win. If only just, because MJF messes up an interference or something.

“Timeless” Toni Storm (c) (with Luther) vs. Mina Shirakawa - I'm fully on the Toni Storm train by now. It took a while, but I'm now convinced by her in-rig work (as the character; we generally know that she can do everything very well). And Ms. Shirakawa can do it too. Has the “she learned it in Japan” bonus for me anyway, but you've seen that with Dynamite the last 2 weeks; she's already much more than a funny gimmick and “great live presence” (Meltzer). Nevertheless, Timeless Toni Storm wins.

FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) (with Stokely) vs. Daniel Garcia and Nigel McGuinness - FTR win this thing, hands down. Then they get ready to do something horrible to McGuinness, Edg-.... Cope comes out, chases them off.

Mark Briscoe vs. Ricochet - this is going to be great. Ricochet is on a roll right now. I'm not a fan of all the bald jokes regarding Ricochet, because going on appearances with someone who looks like that is a bit absurd. But ok. It'll be great. Ricochet wins.
Anarchy in the Arena Match: Kenny Omega, Swerve Strickland, Willow Nightingale, and The Opps (Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Katsuyori Shibata) vs. Death Riders (Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Marina Shafir, and Wheeler Yuta) and The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson and Nicholas Jackson) - I'm hoping this will be nice and a bit more gritty than humorous for the Death Riders. It's hard to say who will win, but my money is on the Faces.

Kazuchika Okada (c) vs. “Speedball” Mike Bailey - Ooooh, very possible this will be the Match of the Night. Okada can't have a bad match. I haven't seen Speedball in a bad match yet (please watch the 3-way Omega, Bailey, Ricochet. It's really fun.). Okada wins. Bailey is Bailey, but Okada is Okada. And we'll wanna have him face Omega one last time.

The Paragon (Adam Cole, Kyle O'Reilly, and Roderick Strong) vs. The Don Callis Family (Konosuke Takeshita, Kyle Fletcher, and Josh Alexander) (with Don Callis) - Phew. Could end up on the pre-show too, right? Must be the Don Callis Family winning, right? Takeshita is perfect at everything, Fletcher has long been booed as basically indestructible, Alexander is brand new.

“Hangman” Adam Page vs. Will Ospreay
- Yep, difficult. Ospreay would be the clear favorite. Would make sense for him to win. But darn it - my money's on Hangman.

Looking forward to the show. And I hope I get to watch it in peace What are your tips for the show?

Vienna, Austria

Just got through Double or Nothing. Just magnificent.

Spoiler:

Jamie Hayter vs. Mercedes Moné - Absolutely fine match. The two are a really good match-up.

The Hurt Syndicate (Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin) (c) (with MVP and MJF) vs. The Sons of Texas (Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara) - Refreshingly short, which I have no problem with at all. The outcome was very predictable.

“Timeless” Toni Storm (c) (with Luther) vs. Mina Shirakawa - That Ms. Shirakawa is great. Debut only in 2018, but still so good. The little peck at the end might be something to get excited about on US TV, even in 2025, but it's all ok. And it makes sense with these two, other than with Mrs.Melo and Mrs. Cargill back then. As mentioned before, I like Mrs.Storm's in-ring style much more appealing now as well. Cool match.

FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) (with Stokely) vs. Daniel Garcia and Nigel McGuinness -Oh, how lovely . FTR are super heels, especially Cash Wheeler with his constant trash talking underlines his character as the hothead of the team very well. FTR are such a great outfit. Danny Garcia always seems to be on the verge of a breakthrough, but then nothing happens. I strongly assume that will be the case this time too. Very nice that Cope didn't come out.

Mark Briscoe vs. Ricochet - Possibly the match of the night (aside from the main event)? I liked this even more than I thought I would. Ricochet is phenomenal right now, and works so well with Briscoe. Excellent, how the amosphere of the match changed when Briscoe came up, bleeding from his head like crazy.

Anarchy in the Arena Match: Kenny Omega, Swerve Strickland, Willow Nightingale, and The Opps (Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Katsuyori Shibata) vs. Death Riders (Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Marina Shafir, and Wheeler Yuta) and The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson and Nicholas Jackson) - Anarchy in the arena is always its own thing, isn't it. And that's made very clear with Justin Roberts' “ooooooooooooooooh shiiiiiiiiiiiiiit -” at the beginning. Very interesting ups and downs for me. At first I wasn't so enthusiastic, then a bit, then less and then a lot. It's always and inherently a car crash, of course, but it's fun, and people know the lyrics to Let the Bodies Hit the Floor and that's fun as well. And then just a bunch of madness at the end. Not quite as over the top and absurd as the first Stadium Stampede or something, but exciting back and forth. Too long? Nah, only in the second quarter or so. But the latter half or so was really good. Also: Men hitting moves on women and the other way around was a great moment. More of that. Maybe not as the norm, but in intergender tag team matches and the likes - any time.

Kazuchika Okada (c) vs. “Speedball” Mike Bailey - Predictably great. It's hard to say anything about a lot of these matches because they're just great. Okada is always great. Scratching his back with his middle finger got me maughing . Since he's so downplayed in everything, these little but very deliberate clownesque bits are very funny, although silly. And then, when you've almost forgotten about it, he unleashes this incredible dropkick late in the match and it's clear once again why Okada is where he is and who he is. I also think Speedball is great. What a wrestler. There's only one category of wrestler I like more than a believable, flawless babyface, and that's the wrestler who can function as both a babyface and a heel without having to change much. Bailey falls into that second category. But as it is, he works great and hopefully stays with us for a long time.

The Paragon (Adam Cole, Kyle O'Reilly, and Roderick Strong) vs. The Don Callis Family (Konosuke Takeshita, Kyle Fletcher, and Josh Alexander) (with Don Callis) - Hjo. Eh.Capable people all around, two Kyles in the ring. And then the Tanahashi comes out, bless him! Yeah, he can barely move, but he's still Tanahashi. Awesome hair, awesome music, how can one not love Tanahashi.

“Hangman” Adam Page vs. Will Ospreay - Sensational.I couldn't watch it yesterday, but I've made up for it now.Simply sensational match. Story, psychology, build, characters, moves, action. 5/5.

Great PPV, which should be watched.

Double or Nothing might be my show of the year. Speedball v Okada was fantastic, Mone v Hayter was great, Briscoe v O'shay was a ton of fun, Hangman v Ospreay was incredible, and, of course, Anarchy in the Arena was just insane. watched this on discord with some friends, as usual, and people kept losing their minds the entire time. really appreciate how they paced the show, too, with matches that let me breath between the big moments, but also, the matches are still fun. the Hurt Syndicate squashing some jobbers can be fun, but without getting my heartbeat racing like Speedball and Okada did. altogether, fantastic show!
