[separate thread, as I didn't want to flood the main Necron tactics one with stuff that might not be as relevant in a few months]
So everyone's all about the Kill Teams at the moment.
Some of those other armies are blessed with options galore, but we metal space zombies definitely have a more limited selection (no vehicles, no squad HQ upgrades, no monstrous creatures, etc).
But that's not to say we're completely helpless.
Basically our choices are (minimums to maximums allowable in 200 points):
TROOPS (0-2):
10-15 Warriors
5-10 Immortals
ELITE (0-1):
5-15 Flayed Ones
5-10 Deathmarks
5-7 Praetorians
5-8 Lychguard
FAST (0-1):
3-5 Wraiths
3-9 Scarabs
3-10 Tomb Blades
1-5 Destroyers
Now, everyone has their own favorite mixes from the above, but the thing not all of us are clear on is which Specialist abilities would go best with which models in what kind of list?
So we ask!
What would you recommend on who?

Necron are quite honestly one of the top tier choices in Kill Team.
I'd recommend this, some very good reading and explains why Warriors and Tomb Blades are absolutely bonkers in KT.
http://www.dakkadakka.com/wiki/en/Kill_Team_Tactica_%28for_Warhammer_40,000_7th_edition%29
I also think Flayed Ones, Wraiths and Scarab Swarms look amazingly solid too.
As for Specialist choices it all depends on the units, some nice shooty Weapon Specialist choices on Warriors or Tomb Blades would be nice, Indomitable or Guerilla on another TB... If it were Flayed Ones obviously you'd take some CC related ones.
I dunno, there's plenty of decent choices from each list, can't really go wrong. +1BS is great, Master Crafted is great, Eagle Eye is great, then you have Scout, Infiltrate, Stealth, Move Through Cover, Preferred Enemy, and so on~

Nine Tomb Blades with gauss/vanes/scopes are virtually undefeated for me. My friends won't play against that list anymore. They said it's just not fun because they know they'll be completely eliminated a couple turns in.
Also, given how many of the missions are objective based, jetbikes are awesome. This is, of course, assuming you don't table the other side, which 9 tomb blades usually will do anyway.

That unfairness is probably why I'll do half Tomb Blades and then Deathmarks/Flayed Ones. Destroyers have potential to be stupidly unfair as well.

Luckily Destroyers are pretty cost prohibitive, so you can only add a few. Tomb Blades, on the other hand, you can go overboard with if you wanted.

Dude there is no 1 choice for each unit... Just, pick the best/good ones.
I covered a lot of the better choices in my post above. The majority of which will work on whatever unit. Just read what each one does and make your own decision.
Is it melee focused? Then something from combat or dirty fighter.
Is it shooty? Well take a shooty skill or perhaps something to make it tougher or move around better.

Again, the special rules are so generic, they would work on most things. ^^;;;
Why should I spend like 20minutes typing out why each ability is good for each unit? Especially when most wont see play lol.
(Though that would make a fun idea for a new thread, discussing each ability in kill team, what roles it would fill, some of the best units it's good on, etc)
Not to mention I hope it'd be kind of obvious ^^; isn't a huuuuge difference.
Would be easier if you shared your Kill Team ideas then we could comment on them and recommend skills that way.
Otherwise it's like, "pick the good ones" lol

Okay, so instead of the public discussion i was hoping this might start, looks like I'll just waffle on with my own personal thoughts on Necron Kill Team tactics.
So,
My rating on unit choices:
FAST-
A+) Tomb Blades: fast, decently tough with T5 and 3+, good weapons with nice rules (Gauss, Scopes), not too expensive.
A) Destroyers: same as above, with double the wounds and even better guns (AP3). Plus, they can jump-shoot-jump. Downside is price.
A-) Wraiths: also T5 with 2 W, plus the added bonus of a 3++ inv save. Killing power not bad. Price also an issue, especially as you're required to take 3 as a minimum.
B-) Scarabs: cheap for lots of wounds and attacks. Very weak, though.
ELITE-
A) Flayed Ones
?) Praetorians
?) Lychguard
?) Deathmarks
TROOPS-
A) Immortals
?) Warriors
Here are my picks for which Specialist rules go best on which units.
Feel free to comment if you feel another choice would be better.
Warriors:
Immortals:
Deathmarks:
Tomb Blades:
Sharpshooter (W.S... but only if you need to save a few points by not taking Scope like you normally would)
Move Through Cover (G.S)
Destroyers:
Eagle Eye/Expert Shot/Sharpshooter/Reaping Volley (W.S)
Move Through Cover (G.S)
Flayed Ones:
Killer Instinct (C.S),
Exploit Weakness (D.F.S),
Fearless (I.S),
Stealth (G.S)
Praetorians:
Move Through Cover (G.S)
Killer Instinct (C.S)
Lychguard:
Killer Instinct (C.S)
Wraiths: N/A
Scarabs: N/A
[will finish updating later]

Technically speaking, we could field a Triarch Stalker. And add 4 Tomb Blades (1 Leader + 3 Specialists), and also add a single toy (ignore cover OR 3+). The stalker takes care of quite anything in the meta and would be so hard to kill. The tombs are there for assassination and last-turn point snatching.
Just look at the face of your opponent while he realizes AV13. Still not the worst cheese (not even nearly competitive imho), but still so fun.

Tomb Blades were for me a kill team to end all kill teams - literally; I think have never played kill teams since my turn 2 win with them (the enemy was totally obliterated).
I found mobility and shooting to be most important for kill teams - this made Tomb Blades a perfect choice.
As far as I remember from my games 2 years ago, from best to worse:
- Destroyers could be very good, but a) I remember there were some problems in fitting them in a 200 point list without wasting points, and b) still not as good as Tomb Blades.
- Wraiths may be very good in close combat, but shooting remains a better tactics.
- Immortal and Warrior teams have similar firepower and survivability to Space Marines, but you can't have fun with a Rhino like marines can.
- Praetorians have potential, but cost a lot.
- Deathmarks were not that good without their teleportation - I think Mathhammer told me a simple Warriors team would be more killy against most enemies.
- Flayed Ones and Lychguard were too slow for me to matter - far too easy to outmaneuver and shoot down.
- I kinda despise Scarabs, personally.
If I were to play now, I think I would choose a combination of Tomb Blades and a weaker unit - Wraiths? Flayed Ones? Good old Warriors? That should be fun to play both for me and the opponent.
That said, it was two years ago, so I don't remember exactly (and I don't remember Specialist choices, either!).

I'd say AP3 models with good mobility, T5 and a 3+ save. You put the TB at a disadvantage since it usually hits on TL3+, wounding on 3+ and that's it. You actually make it TL3+, 4+, and then a 3+ save. A model able to quickly intercept a TB and charge-kill it, should be a good idea. Jetpack and jetbike units preferred, probably bikes could be good too. Massed units doesn't work, I had a couple of games against massed blobs of orks/guardsman, and I usually just killed 6-9 models a turn. If they risk and try to punish you, your retaliation fire could probably induce break tests, and then it's quite over.

Can't go with Tomb Blades and Wraiths, as they're both Fast Attack and you can only take a single FA unit.
Can go Tomb Blades with Flayed Ones or Warriors, though.
With a minimum FO pack you can fit 6 TB. Not a bad set.
Unfortunately, because Warriors are minimum 130, you'll only have enough left over for 3 TB if you go that route. Quite a bit of decent shooting combined, though.

Flayed Ones are nice because Infiltrate. With no DS or Pods and very little in the way of vehicles, deployment shenanigans are at a premium. And Flayed Ones are quite good for their price.
I might just run an 18 FO list for kicks.

Do you mean 15?
(18 FO would be well over 200 points).
Yeah, they'd be able to put out a lot of attacks, but then, how would their performance stack up against that of 15 Warriors?
They've both got the same survivability, but Warriors don't have to get close to kill. Plus, Gauss being able to hurt anything in the game is worth keeping in mind, even if it isn't the most effective method.
I'm thinking there might be something to that 10x Warriors + 5x Flayed Ones build.

Oh yeah, can't math.
Gauss doesn't matter much in Kill Team. FOs can hurt anything AV10 or lower, and I can't think of anything with AV11 rear armor other than Necron stuff.
Warriors are better by far just on principle of having guns, but I love FOs and it would be a good time to just swarm the board with them and see how much stuff I could claw to death.

Armoured Sentinels may be a tough cookie to break when fielding just Flayed Ones though, with AV 12 up front.

True, any Walkerspam would mess it up pretty bad. Like I said, Warriors are by and far the better unit (not as good as Tomb Blades, though), but I think Flayed Ones are fun.
